There are several techniques to mitigate each and enhance the noise floor level of CMOS imagers, such as readout bandwidth limitation, Correlated Double Sampling, Correlated Multiple Sampling, among other techniques. The limiting factor in achieving low output noise at low-light levels is known to be due to flicker noise, since the thermal noise contribution is nowadays well controlled by proper circuitry design. This paper presents a mean to further decrease output noise due to flicker noise by means of reducing time for the correlated samples, as well as to further reduce thermal noise contribution through the usage of a high order Incremental Sigma-Delta converter. In addition, the paper presents a small study on how to approach the design of such ADC type, namely finding the ADC modulator coefficients for a stable operation. The proposed analog-to-digital converter is verified by means of behavioral and extensive transistor-level simulations, done with Cadence Virtuoso 6.15 and using models from Image Sensor Tower Jazz 0.18um Process Development Kit, TS18IS module.","PeriodicalId":250863,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference in Engineering Applications (ICEA)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122716689","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the setup, it is possible to specify an arbitrary architecture of couplings between oscillators and to vary the coupling coefficients during the experiment. Using the constructed setup we carry out an experimental study of the complex dynamics of coupled oscillators. It is shown that the using of an adaptively controlled delayed coupling between oscillators coupled into a ring allows one to achieve the in-phase synchronization of all oscillators in the network.","PeriodicalId":250863,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference in Engineering Applications (ICEA)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116426082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, researches have consistently shown that there are several problems related to materials used for the practice of this sport, mainly, the use of artificial targets (i.e., Clay pigeon), that are molded from petroleum pitch and are very toxic to the environment. Other researches have shown that Shotgun could also be a source of anxiety for under-elite and beginner shooters. Consequently, there was a growing demand for smart electronic solutions using tools and devices able to simulate the Shotgun training situations. The aim of this paper could be demystified in three steps: First is to demonstrate a leading validation of an experimental process using $text{B-percept}^{circledR}$ Zigbee-based system to simulate and to assess Shotgun sport. Second is to validate the consistency and applicability of using $text{B-percept}^{circledR}$ system for measuring visual reaction time in shooting sports training conditions. Third is to value the strategic environmental goals of using wireless simulator systems to reduce contamination caused by waste of Clays.","PeriodicalId":250863,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference in Engineering Applications (ICEA)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114847699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the work with Pypot, the control library in charge of controlling the Poppy robots, several limitations have been detected. One of the main problems found in the library is the low number of sensors implemented out of the box. Since both software and hardware are open source, a series of modifications were introduced on the control library, to fulfill some specific requirements and start using the Poppy humanoid robot in some research projects. One of the main requirements was the ability to use and control new sensors and actuators added to the robot, via Pypot. The library got improvements in the image processing module, communication with IMU and Arduino boards, implementation of facial recognition, use of proximity sensors in simulation, use of custom motors in simulation, simultaneous execution of instructions in multiple robots, display of animations through the LCD screen, and a module called “behavior controller” that executes one or more functionalities in order to create behaviors.","PeriodicalId":250863,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference in Engineering Applications (ICEA)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123891499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its symptoms are ambiguous, which leads to late diagnoses, reducing the patients' chances of survival. In most countries, routine screenings are not usual, which also contributes to the detection of this gastric malignancy in later and more dangerous (and often fatal)stages. One of the main focus of improving healthcare services related to gastric cancer relies on increasing the survival rates. This and predicting if a patient will suffer from any complication following the surgery can aid the healthcare professionals in selecting better and more efficient treatment strategies. Thus, this constitutes as the aims of this study which will test and compare a set of classification models in order to improve the prediction accuracy. Data mining techniques will be put into use, since it's been proved they are one of the best ways of producing useful information for many businesses, including healthcare.","PeriodicalId":250863,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference in Engineering Applications (ICEA)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127936961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main purpose of this study is to define the improvements and updates that can optimize and increase the quality of the existing tools. It also seeks to increment the usability of the software by adding new tools and functionalities. For data collection, a comparison with other CAQDAS (Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis Software) and their capabilities and a webQDA® user's online survey answered by 84 participants was undertaken. After a qualitative analysis of these data it was noticed that the webQDA®, in a global way, is at the same level as the other main CAQDAS. Improvements and updates were made to optimize and increase the quality of the existing tools. In this way, the coding process was simplified in order to improve the user's usability, and the cooperative work was enhanced by adding the tools “Notes” and “Comments” that allow other users to validate the results. However, as far as inputs, data visualization and licenses are concerned, some suggestions for improvements were made. It is our belief that the introduction of these improvements will make webQDA® one of the best CAQDAS in the market.","PeriodicalId":250863,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference in Engineering Applications (ICEA)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123153095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this sense, the prediction of global change scenarios that may affect them is an issue of high scientific and social relevance. One of the elements that indicates the quality of the water is the concentration of Chlorophyll-a. It is well known that Chlorophyll-a is related to the sea surface temperature and other variables such as the presence of nutrients and wind. All of them have been monitored with remote sensing satellites for more than a decade ago. Thus, researchers have available temporary series of these data. In this work, the prediction of Chlorophyll-a concentration is addressed from data on sea surface temperature and the aerosol optical thickness. For this, a shallow neuronal network is designed and trained, whose performance is contrasted with other approaches. The results show that the tested methodology can be used to model predictors with the discussed climate variables.","PeriodicalId":250863,"journal":{"name":"2019 International Conference in Engineering Applications (ICEA)","volume":"144 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134465345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Every user has their own specific nutritional needs and requirements. An appropriate nutrition policy can therefore help the patient's recovery process and alleviate possible symptoms. Food recommender systems are platforms that offer personalised suggestions of recipes to users. However, there is a lack of usage of recipe recommendation systems in the healthcare sector. Multiple challenges in representing the domain of food and the patient's needs make it complicated to implement these systems. The present project aims to develop a platform for an intelligent planning of the user's meals, based on their clinical conditions. The application of machine learning algorithms on nutrition, in healthcare services and continuous care is thus a key topic of research. This platform will be tested and deployed at the Social Cafeteria of Vila Verde (Cantina Social da Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vila Verde).
