This paper presents a method to compute lumped capacitance values and their distribution through 2D electrostatic finite-element simulation. The method is applied to a real machine slot with double layer. Turn-to-iron and inter-turn capacitive couplings show that negligible values appear between distant turns and turns not facing the slot walls and the iron. This reduction of the matrix size can be exploited on further high-frequency equivalent circuit representation. In addition, the influence of the insulation geometry and characteristics is studied.","PeriodicalId":250783,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121198114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The DFF method scans the “scene” by taking sequences of images with various lens settings and tries to find the best focus. This paper presents a method of measuring distances based on focus. It is used a web video camera. To achieve the autofocus, the camera lens moves to a position where the clearest image is obtained. The maximum clarity is measured from the histograms of the images on which a filter with the role of highlighting the edges was initially applied. Knowing the focal length of the lens, the distances can be found from the lens equation (1). Theoretically, for each position of the lens, in which the maximum clarity is reached, it corresponds a measured distance between the object and the camera. Because the camera used has only 16 positions of the lens, each position corresponds to a range of distances, this range being of the order of centimeters. Measurement accuracy can be improved by applying a linear and parabolic interpolation process. In this way the errors reach the order of millimeters. The distance measuring device in the present paper consists of a fixed video camera, a PC with the role of information processing and an object moving in front of the camera on its optical axis. Both the camera and the object are arranged on a graduated ruler support on which the camera is calibrated.","PeriodicalId":250783,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130447475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system we made, which we named it the Real Time Weather Location System, uses multiple sensors to retrieve weather data that it transmits to a central server and displays on a map accurate information about the weather conditions in different areas. Our system system is useful for alerting the authorities for natural disasters, such as: floods, storms, massive snowfalls, etc. Given the widespread use of motor vehicles, our system can be a viable alternative to current weather monitoring systems with a direct impact on the safety of car traffic participants as well as residents. At the same time, we designed and built the Real Time Weather Location System so that it is accessible to a wide range of car owners. The future development of our system aims at its compatibility with the means of railway and naval transport.","PeriodicalId":250783,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133863569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the rehabilitation process after e.g. a stroke any user needs a confirmation of his/her the treatment effectiveness. The Grip Force Tracking System (GFTS) is a system that helps the upper limb rehabilitative process and provide also a record of the improvements on a daily basis. The former GFTS has been only used under old versions of PC software operating systems (e.g. windows XP) and without any possibility to wireless collect relevant data. This new proposed GFTS system, which uses only the pinch and grip sensorial devices from the former GFTS system, has new facilities to operate under new operating systems, provides a new LabVIEW designed interface and wirelessly connects to a PC/laptop. This final design will be tested in a clinical environment aiming to help the patients with neuromuscular diseases to evaluate and train their grip force control.","PeriodicalId":250783,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"137 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131725602","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model developed is based on the single-period newsvendor model, which has been frequently used because both decision-making problems have the same objective, to determine the optimal capacity considering a stochastic supply and demand. The simulations were performed on different energy storage systems, taking into account the performance of both PV and ESS. Several parameters were integrated into the model in order to ensure an optimal sizing of the storage system. The results show that this approach minimizes the cost of the energy storage system and can be used to optimally size an ESS for a household, which has a rooftop grid-connected PV system.","PeriodicalId":250783,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130919968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the transition from single layer to multi-layer spiral coils is inevitable. The purpose of this paper is to determine the inductance of multilayer spiral coils of different geometries (square, circular, hexagonal and octagonal) and configurations that produce much higher performance. The use of multilayer spiral coils allows a flexibility to choose the desired size with the possibility to change both the number of turns and the number of layers. Therefore, by comparing numerous coil configurations presented in this paper, the correctness of the proposed solutions for determining the inductance of multilayer spiral coils was demonstrated by numerical modeling, experimental measurements and analytical calculations starting from monolayer spiral coils, where the inductance calculation was based on the formula developed by researcher S.S. Mohan using fundamental principles of electromagnetism.","PeriodicalId":250783,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133075639","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The methodology considers three objectives (energy-saving, power reserve, and average service availability), taking into account the weighting coefficients, having values between 0 and 1, depending on the choice of the Decision-Maker. Also, the methodology can be applied in other strategies based on the interchanging of the overloaded or underloaded transformers with different performance standards. The testing was done using a transformer fleet with 23 units from a rural distribution area belonging to a Romanian Distribution Network Operator. The optimal strategy, having the weighting coefficients equal with 0.7 for the energy-saving criterion and 0.3 for the power reserve criterion, led to an average energy-saving per transformer by 3.45 MWh/year and an average increase of the power reserve with 22.8 %, considering the same electricity supply continuity, whatever the replaced transformer.","PeriodicalId":250783,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical And Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115325601","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
