In the last decades, the discussion on how agricultural practices need to be changed has raised awareness on more sustainable products for consumer. Consumer demands for more sustainable products are increasing in the recent year. This trend encourages producers, companies, and even governments to change the way of farming practices. Bondowoso is one of the regions in East Java that has a high rate of poverty. Moreover, the majority of the society work in agricultural sector mainly rice paddy. In 2008, the district government of Bondowoso started a program to develop a region of an organic rice producing area. This program aims to improve the environmental condition and rural economy in Bondowoso. However, the environmental values is far away from the economic motive of the farmers. Applying good agricultural practices needs higher operational costs and more effort from farmers which will be difficult for them to follow. The research is evaluative and designed using the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, and Product). Conservation values internalized in the village law include the regulation about management areas, protection areas, prohibitions, sanctions, duties and responsibilities. The internalization of conservation values can be seen from the use of friendly fishing gear called \"bubu\". The impact of the village law toward the conservation in Betahwalang Village is the sustainable fisheries as a changing process in which exploitation, technological development orientation and institutional changes are the harmonious processes that guarantee the fisheries potential resources at present to the future. It is about the existence of the concept of the holy mountain as the center of the universe. In ancient Javanese society, there is a belief that the kingdom of the gods was at the peak of the sacred mountain called Meru/Mahameru. Mountain in the Hindu doctrine is believed to be the main pillar of the world called axis (axis mundi). Mount as a pivot (axis mundi) to the stairs is up to the world of gods located on top of the mountain (Meru/Mahameru). (Meru/Mahameru) as the top of the mountain is where the kingdom of the Gods is located. King of all gods was Indra living the mountain peak, and he is also called the Kaindran. There are archaeological remains in the form of Watu Gajah, and the local community, Gajah Indra in Wonotunggal largest village in Kupang. The term Watu Gajah is called as Gajah Indra, so it is interesting to be further discussed in relation to the role of Mount regarding the religious life of the Ancient Batang community. The magical religious behavior of the ancient Batang community in the VII-IX century that made the mountain as a holy place is also evidenced by the existence of the archaeological remains in the form of Punden Berundak buildings with terraced courtyards as a symbol of the ladder leading to the dwelling place of the gods. Punden Berundak in Silurah, namely Punden Batur and Punden Wali Ajar Pendek are nothing other than Karsyan Patapan where the worshipers perform ritual worship on the mountain as a place for the Gods to dwell. The target is the State and Private High School Teachers in the Tegal Regency. This location was chosen because Tegal Regency is a district far from the central government of Central Java, thus require more attention including training activities for local teachers. The tools and materials used are Landsat 8 and Quickbird Satellite Imagery. Both images have different spatial resolutions, so they can be used as learning media in accordance with the expected competency standards. The results showed that: 1) Participation, response, and activeness of participants during the lecture and practice were very good, 2) There was an increase in knowledge of digital audience sensing material of the participants based on the comparison of the results of the Pre-test and Posttest, and 3) The outcomes in the form of image maps is still less than the expected target. The growth of new housing in rural urban fringe is inseparable from the increasing number of people accompanied by an increase demand for residential land. The development of residential areas or new housing in rural urban fringe could lead to various impacts on the environment. This study aims to examine changes in land use (built area) in the rural urban fringe of Semarang, namely in Gunungpati District. The methods used was digital image interpretation with multispectral classification method and pattern comparison analysis to get a frame of land use in 2005, 2010 and 2015. Interpretation results were tested for validity through field observation. The results showed that the dominant land use change occurred for settlement. The change from 2005 to 2010 was 122.33 ha. While from 2010 to 2017, there has been an increase in the area of settlements by 297.54 ha. The non-settlement-built area expansion was from 10.65 ha in 2005 to 51.87 ha in 2017. Environmental impacts that occur include the reduction of water absorption area and rising of surface temperatures in the area which may further affect the pattern or lifestyle of the community Keywords— built area; environmental impact; rural urban fringe; Semarang; settlement","PeriodicalId":247554,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Rural Studies in Asia (ICoRSIA 2018)","volume":"133 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134160046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mangrove Tapak has provided enormous potentials and benefits for the Tapak community; one of which is tourism. The tourism that has been developed in Mangrove Tapak area is called eco-edutourism. It is a community-based tourism developed by Tapak community. Based on these conditions and potentials, Tapak, in Tugurejo Village has a great potential to be developed as an eco-edutourism village. However, to become an eco-edutourism village, Tapak still needs a lot of developments. This study aims to find out the potential development of the village for eco-edutourism in Tapak, the supporting and inhibiting factors, and the strategy to develop eco-edutourism village. The study was conducted by using descriptive methods with a qualitative approach through interviews, observation, and documentation. The analysis of the data was conducted by qualitative analysis with interaction method based on the theory of Miles and Huberman. Based on the research, the results showed that the potential of Tapak eco-edutourism village consists of: Tapak mangrove forest, mangrove forest tour using cruise boats, Tirang Island, edutourism and fishing in fish farms, culinary tours, edutourism mangrove parks, and mangrove processing edutourism. The factors supporting the development of the eco-tourism village include: the potential characteristics of eco-edutourism, local community participation, large market share, accessibility, and strategic tourist location. The inhibiting factors were: lack of financial support and low tourism infrastructure, inadequate quality of human resources, the threat of environmental sustainability and less clean tourism environment. Thus, the strategy in developing Tapak eco-edutourism village includes: making tour packages, improving the quality of human resources, strengthening organizations, institutional reform and improving infrastructure, and intensive and efficient tourism promotions.
