Context of instruction where e-learning is commissioned can bear implications for the scope and instances of application. The present study addresses the major challenges faced in this respect by Iranian practitioners and also offer some practical solutions to these challenges. As a descriptive study in nature, the data population comprised 350 Iranian citizens from various social, economical and educational backgrounds aged between 16 and 53 who were asked to prioritize six major challenges Iranian people face regarding the e-learning arena on a standardized Likert-type scale. The challenges were selected from among those earlier cited in the related literature. Six major challenges to be prioritized were: lack of government support, lack of public awareness, high costs of e-learning, collectivist society of Iran, low-speed internet, internal filtering and external sanctions. The results indicated that lack of public awareness, lack of government support and collectivist society of Iran were chosen by the participants as the main hurdles in the path of e-learning development in Iran, respectively. Further solutions and implications of the study are discussed in the study.","PeriodicalId":247415,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Research in Education Methodology","volume":"471 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120940092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, this study aims to investigate how teacher assists the students in learning to write, and following that, this study then aims to understand how teachers assistance affects students writing skills. The participants of this study consisted of three fourth former students and their English teacher. In order to gather information about the teachers assistance and its effect on learners writing skills, two types of data were collected. Firstly, non-participant classroom observation was carried out for six months where the researcher observed and recorded each activity in the classroom. Secondly, all of the students written works during each activity were compiled and the content was analyzed to see the changes. One essay entitled My father will be used for the discussion of this paper. Finding showed that students managed to improve their sentences in the essay once the teacher assisted them through class discussion and individual comments.","PeriodicalId":247415,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Research in Education Methodology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131385996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increase of the diversity of the audience present in the school has brought forth policies and differentiating school responses which aim to build a school for all. In this paper we seek to understand how the growing social tensions which are observed in the form of indiscipline at school are managed, whether towards other social professionals or only towards teachers. This paper presents a comparative study between three educational contexts which comprise socio-pedagogic mediation practices: Educational Context of Early Intervention (Terririo Educativo de Interveno Prioritria - TEIP) and two Support Offices for Students and their Families (Gabinetes de Apoio ao Aluno e Famlia - GAAF). In the three cases, there are senior social workers (tcnicos superiores de trabalho social - TSTS), social educators, youth workers and social assistants who work with teachers on a daily basis. The research done in this paper focuses mainly on the teachers opinion concerning the emergence of these new professions and their socio-pedagogic contribution in the school.","PeriodicalId":247415,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Research in Education Methodology","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115038171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the last two decades, technology has dramatically penetrated into almost all walks of life and education was not an exception to it. The task of educating the young persons and students is not easy to perform. It needs large numbers of schools, colleges, universities and different kind of educational institutions, lots of funds and many other things. Universalization of elementary education is a cherished goal before our nation. Same is the case with our secondary education. In the age of globalization, our educational institutes need to be overhauled. New web-based technologies are becoming part and parcel of our education system. In this study, the Malaysian stakeholders industries, government agencies of Malaysia and HEIs are the interveners who create the best solutions of the problematic situation of poor professional communication skills amongst the graduates. By using SSM, it is anticipated that stakeholders involved would reach a common ground in defining Professional Communication Skills (PCS), which will decrease the problem of skill mismatches. It is discovered thatSSM was able to examine the requirement from all parties by offering them a proper and equal stage to voice out their opinion. It is believed that SSM can help instructors and policy makers of Malaysian HEIs in making a sound judgement in teaching PCS in classrooms, and help to develop our graduates potential to bemore marketable employees.","PeriodicalId":247415,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Research in Education Methodology","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114067292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, their weak English production has encountered educational system with this serious question why students are not able to speak English despite a six-year instructional period at school. Since one of the effective factors in teaching a language is the textbook, this study focuses on the content of textbooks and teachers' attitudes toward the newly-published English textbooks. The study evaluates the quality of the Seventh Grade English language textbook, Prospect 1 , for Iranian junior high school students, which was introduced first by the Ministry of Education in 2013. This research project evaluates the new textbook that is considered to be a fundamental shift in the English language schoolbooks in Iran. A questionnaire was used in this study to elicit the perspectives of 44 English language teachers. The questionnaire consisted of 40 items grouped under 7 main categories: Practical Considerations, Layout and Design, Activities, Skills, language type, subject and content, and conclusion . The data was subjected to analysis through descriptive statistics. The data were analyzed quantitatively. For the analysis of the responses to the questionnaires, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 19.0) was used, and necessary calculations were carried out. The data in the questionnaire were analyzed using mean scores and standard deviations. The findings were generally in favor of the textbook except for the skills. The findings also revealed despite usual teachers' resistance to new changes, they have positive views toward the newly- published book. Moreover, although teachers' satisfaction in Conclusion, Layout and design, and Language Type is rather high, it seems they need more attention in comparison with Practical Consideration, Activities and Subject and Content.","PeriodicalId":247415,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Research in Education Methodology","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114221586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Yet others tend to ignore the importance of human values which must be an integral part of any innovative design process. In this paper, We would first disaggregate design capabilities into its constituent capabilities, namely, exploring, creating and converging capabilities, which we need to master to produce better products and services, and then show how the cognitive and affective skills proposed by Benjamin Bloom, and Anderson and Krathwohl in their educational models can directly and significantly contribute to these constituent capabilities. With an improved understanding of the eco-system needed for better design solutions, we suggest that the present education systems, especially in developing countries, be critically reviewed and reoriented from the perspective of producing quality innovative designers, regardless of the problem area.","PeriodicalId":247415,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Research in Education Methodology","volume":"20 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125840853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Drama work offers possibilities for creative group processes and aims for deeper conceptual understanding by preparing students to create new knowledge. Having said this, it is difficult to determine whether this is true, and in what way if it is true. This article seeks to answer the following research questions: Can the principles of theatrical improvisation be used as an analytic tool to examine the collaboration and emergence of creative ideas between pupils during drama work? To what degree do teacher trainees succeed in supporting pupils group creativity in drama lessons? The potential complexity and diversity of creative group processes in drama education is challenging for teacher trainees and novice teachers at the beginning of their careers. In this study teacher trainees specializing in drama were observed. Eight lessons were recorded and analyzed using the core principles of improvisation as an analytic tool. The scenes were then interpreted to recognize the characteristics of group creativity (improvisation, collaboration and emergence) defined by Sawyer (2003, 2006, 2012). Both authors analyzed and made their interpretations separately. The findings were compared and the few situations where the authors opinions differed were reconciled by discussion. The research results show that the analysis method based on the principles of improvisation was moderately usable for both exact and more general analysis. Within the restrictions of the case studies, our conclusion is that drama teaching supports pupils group creativity.","PeriodicalId":247415,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Research in Education Methodology","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130544911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
