They communicate via multi-hops to one or more sinks over a shared wireless medium. Code division multiple access (CDMA) allows many sensor nodes to transmit simultaneously over the common shared medium without excessive collisions that often result in packet loss and lowered throughput. However, this requires the proper assignment of orthogonal codes to the sensor nodes to minimize interference among adjacent neighbors. Due to the distributed and autonomous nature of sensor networks, CDMA codes cannot be assigned in the same way as cellular networks. We propose a distributed methodology of assigning CDMA codes to the nodes, which has low message overheads, allows for spatial reuse of the channel and does not depend on the availability of neighbor information. Our approach is also able to handle topological changes that could be induced by nodes entering or leaving the network. Two effects of proposed STPS were confirmed through the field tests. One of them is that inter-AP interference decreases by the proposed scheduler, and a high-quality communication is possible even if access terminal is present in the environment of strong inter-AP interference. The analysis facilitates to obtain simple-to-evaluate and accurate error probabilities based on Holtzman's simplified improved Gaussian approximation. It is shown that despite having the same processing gain, which is some multiple of the multiplication of the number of frequency bands in use, frames per bit and chips per frame, different combinations of the parameters result in different performances. In addition, the UWB system using TH pulse train is shown to perform better than the one using uniform pulse train. System performances are presented for various system parameters investigating tradeoffs among them and the validity of the standard Gaussian approximation is examined. We modeled the exact structure of coaxial cable and antenna. The antenna, coaxial cable and ground plane are modeled as surface electric currents, but the dielectric resonator and internal dielectric of coaxial cable are assumed as a volume polarization current. The dielectric resonator (DR) is treated via a set of combined field integral equations. The associated coupling is then formulated with sets of integral equations. The coupled integral equations are solved by the method of moments (MoM). The effects of air gap and finite ground plane on resonance frequency, input impedance, E-plane and H-plane patterns and moment current of the objects are presented. Finally, we demonstrate some important conceptual issues for designing and analyzing of RDRA in communication circuits such as mobile systems, IF-amplifiers and phase detection. Distortion analysis of two-tone and four-tone random phase signals demonstrates the in-band distortion characteristics of multi-tone signals. Software defined radios (SDR), enabling multi-standard wireless terminals, provide the necessary flexibility for seamless wireless communications. A key challenge in such systems is to have one reconfigurable frequency synthesizer, acting as the local oscillator (LO) and covering all the frequency bands of the considered standards. In this way, silicon area, hence cost, is reduced. To address this need, a novel frequency synthesizer architecture is proposed enabling the generation of quadrature LO-signals over an extremely wide frequency range from one state-of-the-art voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) only . This paper first examines the operating principle of this novel architecture. Then, the key specifications for the individual building blocks are derived, for a representative, large set of standards. Thus specified, the frequency synthesizer covers I/Q LO generation for frequencies ranging from 174 MHz to 5.825 GHz, based on a single VCO with a center frequency of 3.9 GHz and tuning range of /spl plusmn/ 15%, and followed by programmable dividers and a reconfigurable, 8-delay cell delay locked loop (DLL). Finally, estimated power consumption numbers for 130 nm CMOS are given as examples. With this new proposed memory effect identification approach, the contribution of the electrical memory effects to the out-of-band emission can be distinguished easily. Furthermore, a Hammerstein and a memory polynomial pre-compensator are used to pre-correct the dynamic nonlinearity of the transceiver. Their corresponding pre-compensation performances are compared in terms of suppression level of the out-of-band emission caused by the electrical memory effects. The same circuit can be used to achieve pulse position modulation (PPM), pulse amplitude modulation (PAM), on-off keying (OOK) and phase shift keying (PSK) by making changes in the baseband data. The method does not require the use of potentially expensive components like mixers, variable attenuators, switches or variable delays. The circuit employs a pair of anti-parallely mounted step recovery diodes (SRD) coupled to a pulse forming network. With high dynamic-range/low-power sigma-delta analog-to-digital converters (ADC) and digital signal processing functions locally on the radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) a receiver with relaxed requirements for the analog part and a flexible bandwidth channel filtering in digital domain can be realized. Furthermore, the architecture introduces a digital interface between RF and digital baseband IC. Since analog building blocks have limited reconfiguration capabilities by nature of their implementation, the extension of the conventional analog signal processing blocks by a digital front-end (DFE) greatly enhances the flexibility of the RFIC.
