The research is based on data collected from a market research contract in the tourism sector in Alba County and the period submitted for analysis is 2013 – 2015, when there have been identified 365 tourists. Regarding the methodology, one can notice that into Equation Estimation, Least Squares Options, we selected “White” for Coefficient covariance matrix. Also, we pointed out Standard deviation for Type weights options, and for Weighted series we selected Log(Expenditure). According to log-log regression model estimation output, 18 predictors determined a decrease (i.e. almost 55% from total predictors) and 15 independent variables determined an increase in the tourists’ number of visits. In terms of the dichotomous variables related to tourist satisfaction, it was highlighted that ten of exogenous cause a positive reaction in Number of Visits and ten of them a negative one. The elasticity of Number of Visits with respect to Log(Expenditure) is about -0.0959, suggesting that if the level of expenditure goes up by 10 percent, on average, the tourists’ number of visits goes down by about 1 percent. Thus, Number of Visits is very responsive to changes both variables related to tourist satisfaction and in personal tourist’s expenditure.","PeriodicalId":243710,"journal":{"name":"Progress in Economic Sciences","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122211338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is connected to the need to analyse the network structures in the organisation through the prism of the triumvirate of management roles consisting of the following archetypes: the entrepreneurial, leadership, and managerial roles. This means the implementation of modern organisational, technological, market, and social innovation solutions. The purpose of process management is to standardise the organisation’s activities in order to anticipate changes in production processes, services, and environmental variability. These processes are currently based on knowledge which can strengthen the financial, organisational, social, technical and technological efficiency of the enterprise. Its theoretical and practical application is included in this article.","PeriodicalId":243710,"journal":{"name":"Progress in Economic Sciences","volume":"361 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115932141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its implementation, however, has its supporters and constructive opponents. Because most authors have a positive attitude towards sustainable development, the aim of the study is to present critical views regarding this concept. The article is based on The analysis of Polish and English literature. The most important critical opinions formulated against the idea of sustainable development include: contradictory, too general and vague definition of sustainable development; abuse of the concept of sustainable development, which has led to the devaluation of the term; and the lack of effects of the implementation of sustainable development and the ever deepening of the problems it was supposed to solve. In order to break the United Nations deadlock, it is necessary to formulate measurable guidelines and to take concrete actions, which require significant financial resources.","PeriodicalId":243710,"journal":{"name":"Progress in Economic Sciences","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127363576","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other hand, it has the opportunity to develop the other types of tourism, such as: mountain tourism, spa tourism, rural tourism, etc. Serbia has to improve its tourism infrastructure in order to achieve better quality and meet tourists’ requirements. In that sense, it is necessary to enhance the number of the accommodation facilities that will meet set standards. The selection of the type of the accommodation facility, as well as its location, is a very delicate issue because the right choice influences future operations and revenue. Making a decision without considering the problem from every available aspect could lead to making the wrong decisions. Multiple Criteria Decision Making methods are imposed as the logical approach to solving problems in an effective manner. In this paper, the ranking and selection of the optimal resort project focused on the tourism development of Backa and is performed using compromise programming.","PeriodicalId":243710,"journal":{"name":"Progress in Economic Sciences","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129078991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The key issue for the economics of education is to analyse the efficiency of education funding by defining a relationship between effects and expenditures. This paper outlines the problems of measuring the efficiency of education funding (from public funds in particular) based on a critical literature review and the results of the author’s previous analysis. The author presents an original concept of research into the efficiency of education funding (intended direction, scope, hypotheses and methods), announcing a series of publications about the conditions for its measurement.","PeriodicalId":243710,"journal":{"name":"Progress in Economic Sciences","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132931804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the data from the Food Banks, 1.3 billion tonnes of food is wasted every year around the world. This represents a third of the total food production. In Europe, there are almost 100 million tonnes and in Poland there are some 9 million tonnes per annum (Food Banks 2016). The data on Europe do not include losses in agriculture and fisheries, which, in fact, make this figure much higher. However, the scale of waste in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia is much lower and there is a chronic problem of malnutrition and even starvation. As reported by UNICEF, malnutrition is the cause of death of over 5 million children annually (UNICEF 2016). It is therefore necessary to develop strategies to effectively combat this phenomenon. Such attempts are taken by the European Union, which pays attention to the problem in the strategy ‘Europe 2020’. In 2011, the European Parliament adopted a resolution ‘How to avoid food waste: a strategy for improving the efficiency of the food chain in the EU’. At the same time a large part of the EU population (including Poles) declare that they are not aware of the situation, do not notice information campaigns and programmes that aim to reduce food waste. Struggle with this twenty-first century problem should therefore start from building attitudes and awareness of individual households and firms engaged in food production and distribution. The purpose of this article is to point to the problem of food waste, its causes and manifestations, and to identify possible strategies to combat this phenomenon. Research methods used in this work include a critical literature analysis and meta-analysis with elements of deductive reasoning based on available literature and reports.","PeriodicalId":243710,"journal":{"name":"Progress in Economic Sciences","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121945466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Housing is one of the most acute problems of the elderly. However, solving this issue is by no means an easy task as the population of seniors is highly heterogeneous. The great diversity means that the housing offer for this group should also be wide and comprehensive. Independent living forms, adjusted to the needs of the elderly, are among many potential dwelling options. The aim of this paper is to explain the meaning of gerontechnology as part of the silver economy concept. The issue is of special importance in the light of the ongoing demographic changes. The basic method applied is case study – the author presents the model example of an apartment for seniors in Warsaw, Poland, where many gerontechnological solutions have been applied.","PeriodicalId":243710,"journal":{"name":"Progress in Economic Sciences","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116563048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Great potential for development of both economic and protection of natural values lies in using up renewable energy resources. Serbia is the country rich in renewable natural resources, which are not used enough. The focus of this paper is the ranking of sustainable development projects in Eastern Serbia, the city of Zajecar, the resort of Gamzigrad spa and its thermo-mineral wells. Development projects are ranked by application of the ELECTRE method and by application of the AHP method, as an ancillary method to determine the weights of criteria. Both of the methods are in the field of Multiple-Criteria Decision Making. The ELECTRE method I is often used for determining partial orders of alternatives. This way of ranking projects is contributing to sustainable development and sustainable management of natural resources in Serbia. Sustainable management of natural resources contributes to raising the quality of life of the citizens of Serbia, and in the Eastern region of the country.","PeriodicalId":243710,"journal":{"name":"Progress in Economic Sciences","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124637417","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It originally referred to natural environment, yet currently it covers more and more areas, including economic and social layers. The aim of this paper is to discuss the role of social housing in sustainable development. The issue of affordable housing within this context has been rarely addressed (e.g. Zaniewska, Thiel, IRM reports) and is thus an interesting field of research. Based on the available literature and statistical data, the authors show the importance of social housing for sustainable development. It is crucial to provide equal access to housing, counteract social exclusion and curb energy consumption by improving thermal efficiency and renovating residential buildings.
