While taking a data-driven approach into investigating the properties and dynamics of crowdfunding campaigns would allow the use of computational social science in investigations on crowdfunding, existing data-driven research on crowdfunding remains very limited. This is particularly true on the level of individual funder data. In this study, we contribute to the empirical body of knowledge on crowdfunding by introducing Indiegogo as a data source and, more specifically, the development and implementation of a crawler and scraper for accessing Indiegogo campaign data, and sharing this openly for other researchers. Due to the extremely dynamic and rapidly increasing amount of crowdfunding data in terms of the number of crowdfunding campaigns and the available investment and individual investor data, we believe our approach is useful for supporting public and open data-driven research, instead of providing merely a static data set.","PeriodicalId":243393,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 19th International Academic Mindtrek Conference","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132720821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal of this study is to understand the role of expectations and emotions in the evaluation of a product -- a mobile phone -- over a five-month period of use in a real-life setting. The results show that expected enjoyment has long-lasting effects on product evaluations and on behavioral intentions, e.g., recommending the product to friends. High enjoyment expectations boosted enjoyment during the first days of use, but the effect of expectations changed over time depending on initial level of expected enjoyment and whether expectations were exceeded, confirmed or disconfirmed. The results suggest that subjective evaluations after short-term usability testing may not reliably predict future satisfaction, and it is critical to measure expectations as a benchmark for interpreting the meaning of subjective evaluations. Furthermore, longer use trials are required to estimate future product success, as users need several days of usage experience in order to evaluate whether their expectations are confirmed.","PeriodicalId":243393,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 19th International Academic Mindtrek Conference","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131528213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a most popular keyword on game research papers 'game design' connects the interdiscipline of game studies. However, it is typical that notions of 'design' and 'design research' are not explicitly reflected on the research papers within the academic field of game research. The lack of onversation between game studies and general design research is visible, yet historically explainable. However, considering the maturity of the field, the presence of the theoretical frameworks of design research should be improved. Understanding game studies as design research potentially improves our understanding on game design and alleviates the bridging of the epistemic gap between the practice and academia.","PeriodicalId":243393,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 19th International Academic Mindtrek Conference","volume":"179 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128152944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The success of any software that use these services will be dependent on the quality the services it uses. Web services are provided by a myriad of different organisations and service providers with different resources and technical capabilities, which inevitably raises the question whether a developer interested in the services can trust them or not. Availability of such services is a crucial factor in service quality: it measures how reliable a service is under normal conditions. If a service is not available, the service is of no use regardless of how good quality data it may serve when functional. Therefore it can be argued that availability is the most important measure of service quality. It is however a non-trivial task to determine the level of availability. This paper revolves around the availability of spatial web services in Europe. This kind of services are used by thousands of map applications and they serve as the bedrock of INSPIRE, which is a Europe-wide effort to harmonize both spatial data and how this data is accessed. Spatial web services are implemented using widely adopted standard protocols that make data sharing and interoperability between applications straightforward. Spatineo has released a web application that visualises the availability of spatial web services in Europe. The Service Map showcases countries and organisations in Europe that provide reliable services and highlights areas that need attention. The availability data is collected by Spatineo who specializes in quality of service and the improvement of European spatial data infrastructure.","PeriodicalId":243393,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 19th International Academic Mindtrek Conference","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114407827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The vast majority of process mining applications are based on event logs with flat, keyword-based activity and resource descriptions. Many human-designed processes, however, are based on explicit workflow or lifecycle models with associated product models, both of which can be described using taxonomies or more complicated ontologies. This additional information can be used to analyze and visualize the processes with better insight of and improved formal access to the data. In this paper, we introduce a generic approach for enriching process mining using events logs with associated ontology structures. The main contribution and benefit of this approach lies in the ability to analyze the models in different abstraction levels, which greatly helps understanding complicated processes. Our main application areas are related to engineering and documentation processes.","PeriodicalId":243393,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 19th International Academic Mindtrek Conference","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122476709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The wearer experiences an alternative Virtual Reality (VR) visually through the HMD whilst their other sensory inputs experience the full sensation of real-world skiing, creating a blended virtual/real experience. To enable accurate tracking of the wearer's motion, we implemented a 'snow mouse' device, which rotates on the snow as the skier moves and enables dead-reckoning of the user's position. The prototype device was evaluated in-the-wild, on downhill ski slopes by both a skier and a snowboarder. Initial feedback suggests the level of immersion achieved is high, and particularly, users noticed the non-visual aspects of the experience.","PeriodicalId":243393,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 19th International Academic Mindtrek Conference","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124736664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Overall, we found the known negative effects of texting on lane-keeping performance, workload, and visual attention on road, suggesting that texting on the road in any manner is not risk-free. As a novel finding, we found that hand-held texting led to fewer lane-keeping errors and shorter total glance times off road compared to texting with the phone in a holder. We suggest the explanation is that the drivers had considerably more experience on texting hand-held than texting with the phone in a holder. In addition, the instability caused by the movements of the simulator was presumably easier to control while the phone was in hand compared to the holder. Surprisingly, there was a significant inverse correlation between the distance of the phone from the driving scene and total in-car glance duration as well as the number of in-car glances. The finding suggests that the participants made more inefficient but brief in-car glances towards the phone when the phone was closer to the driving scene than farther apart. The findings should be considered when planning legislation and designing novel in-car touch screen based interaction methods to replace interactions with mobile phones while driving.","PeriodicalId":243393,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 19th International Academic Mindtrek Conference","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127137019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
