It takes into account one of the manifestations of change taking place at the time, namely a dynamic development of male and female religious orders. The article shows the connection between the intensification of religious life and the development of ascetic and mystical theology resulting from the general renewal of Catholic theology. The influence of the Jesuits on the spirituality of female orders as well as their role in introducing the practice of methodical mental prayer is highlighted. The impact of Spanish spirituality on Polish religious life after the Council of Trent is also emphasised, with special attention drawn to Saint Ignatius of Loyola and the Jesuits, Saint John of the Cross and the Discalced Carmelites, Saint Theresa of Ávila and her Discalced Carmelite nuns, Louis of Granada with the Dominicans, and Saint Peter of Alcántara, one of the founders of the Franciscan Friars of the Strict Observance. Polish Catholic religious literature of the post-Tridentine era is also reflected upon, including ascetic and mystical writings adopted from Italian and Spanish religious literature.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121417008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Word of God has the central position in the spirituality of the Founder of the Congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of the Agonizing Heart of Jesus. Mother Ledóchowska is the author of Meditations, that contain considerations based on specific fragments of the Gospel, intended for each day of the year. Her Testament is also full of biblical references and permeated with the evangelical logic. According to Saint Ursula Ledóchowska the meditation of the Word of God in the spirit of faith enables us to learn more and get to know better the person of Jesus Christ and to deepen the relationship with Him. Mother Ledóchowska, by her attitude to the Holy Bible, was ahead of the Second Vatican Council’s time. All her life was an active exegesis of the words of Christ.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125207671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, in the face of ever increasing feeling of ‘spiritual orphanage’, manifested by the disappearance of closeness and tenderness, he calls for Christians to go out and meet with people. At the same time, he points to Mary as the promoter of the culture of encounter. This very article is devoted to Her. I follow in the Pope’s footsteps, who distinguishes three elements of a meeting in the Gospel scene of Mary’s visit to Elisabeth: ‘Mary goes, Mary encounters, Mary rejoices’. These elements define the fundamental structure of the reflections presented here. This is about showing that Mary inspires us to go out to others, to show them closeness and tenderness, which restore the true joy of life.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124021030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Writing from a feminist perspective, Magdalena Środa claims that she associates the word “patriotism” with aggression or great boredom. Among those who have discussed this topic, there is a lack of consensus not only on the substance of the matter but even regarding how many kinds of patriotism there are. “There is but one patriotism, just as there is one honesty, one morality, one dignity, and one honor […]. There is but one patriotism, or one’s attitude towards his or her fatherland, one’s attitude towards values, one’s attitude towards the nation, and one’s attitude towards the state” (Władysław Bartoszewski). Among the many questions that patriotism and its understanding give rise to in the twenty-first century, it is worth recalling the teaching of Karol Wojtyła, who was unquestionably a great Pole and patriot. The centenary of the Polish Pope’s birth in 2020 is conducive to such an effort. On the basis of the sermons that Karol Wojtyła preached before his election to the Chair of St. Peter, we can indicate that his patriotism was shaped by the material monuments of Polish history, the figures of great national heroes, and love of one’s nation, language, tradition, and culture.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125614776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

He points to the need for the formation of all those who are responsible for teaching the truths of the faith, that is, pastors, catechists and all those who have expressed their willingness to help proclaim the Good News. Lack of adequate preparation among those who undertook catechizing leads to small effects and lack of required fruit in catechized people. The broadly understood intellectual formation is intended to deepen the life of faith of the person who serves in catechesis. However, besides the theological knowledge itself, it is important that the catechist is able to develop his own catechetical style. This article analyses the current indications of the Universal Church and the Church in Poland relating to theological education of lay and clerical religion teachers, which is carried out within the framework of studies and later in continuing formation.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122638033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most important of these are mentioned in the document entitled The Interpretation of the Bible in the Church. More than 25 years have passed since this act was published. This article wants to commemorate this event. It proposes an approach to the Bible through fables. The application of the proposed approach undoubtedly enriches the interpretation of the Scriptures. This thesis is demonstrated by the application of two fables motifs: fish and laughter. In fables, fish and laughter quite often mark the beginning of a new stage in the life of a certain protagonist or even become the causative agent of pregnancy, i.e. a new life. Paying attention to these ideas enables a better understanding of those biblical texts that also contain themes of fish and laughter.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116122028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the first point of this article, the author underlines connections of Hebrew words with other Semitics languages in terms of naming this feast. The controversial issue is the translation of Lev. 23:23–25, in which many scholars see not the New Moon Festival, but the New Year Festival. The author sets himself the task, using synchronous methods of work on the biblical text, to present his translation proposal of this disputed fragment. Also, he deals with the problem of the Hebrew expression , which leaves some interpretative freedom as to how to celebrate this festive day. An important point in the presented analysis is an attempt to outline the difficulties associated with placing the examined fragments in one of the layers. However, the author does not intend to solve this issue. In his last point, the author analyzes the fragments mentioned in the title, often juxtaposing them with each other or referring to biblical texts that come from a different layer (Deuteronomist) or extra-biblical testimonies.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124786551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For over 2,000 years, both Jews and Christians — including Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox Christians — have been reading it. It is worth emphasizing, however, that this is not an easy book. It was created in a culture foreign to us, in a foreign language (Hebrew — biblical) — it was written by people with a different mentality than ours. Therefor to understand it, you need the right knowledge. Unfortunately, this can only be obtained at theological faculties. It is known, however, that not all Bible readers feel called to study theology. Many exegetes understand this and write comments for them on Bible books, including the Book of Psalms. One of these exegetes is Fr. professor Tomasz M. Dąbek, the author of the book: To pray with Psalms, which was published in 2019 in Tyniec–Krakow. He divided his dissertation into several parts, which he titled: Introduction (pp. 7–8), Psalter as a prayer book of the People of God of the First Covenant (pp. 9–44), Psalms in the New Testament (pp. 45–58), Psalter as a prayer book to monks, consecrated persons and clergy (pp. 59–68), Psalter in the liturgy and in the personal prayer of a Christian (pp. 69–74), Thoughts about some Psalms (pp. 75–94), Summary (pp. 95–96) and Bibliographic proposals (pp. 97–98). They focused on the evangelization of the Huron and Iroquois tribes which remained in constant conflict with each other. In their work they cut themselves off from the commercial interests of colonial countries, especially of France. After a dozen or so years, they were already able to convey evangelical values in tribal languages, being firmly immersed in the local culture. Thus, they were precursors of the inculturation of the Gospel. The missionaries were characterized by deep Christological spirituality, founded on contemplation of the cross, and, therefore, able to endure boldly the hardships of evangelization. As the result of the vile strategies of colonial powers stirring up tribal disputes, they faced numerous misfortunes, and, ultimately, many of them suffered martyrdom. Consequently, their missionary effort became a path to personal holiness and an irreplaceable contribution to the strengthening of the newly established Church communities on the American soil.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134557629","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
