The majority of children infected with chickenpox will recover. However, this virus can \"sleep\" for decades in the body and one-third of people with this virus can suddenly become active again in the form of herpes zoster or shingles. Herpes zoster or snake pox is a disease characterized by the appearance of a rash and water-filled nodules accompanied by pain on one side of the body. Herpes zoster can cause a painful rash as well as a wide spectrum of complications such as ischemic stroke which occurs when the blood supply to the brain is restricted by narrowed arteries or blocked by clots. Therefore, vaccines are needed as a preventive measure. Epitope-based peptide vaccines have advantages in terms of both selectivity and safety. The use of computational methods is a cost-effective way to develop vaccines. In this study the aim was to look at the ZVZ glycoprotein E protein sequence conservation areas using the in-silico method, to see the potential for the most immunogenic epitope of the protein sequence. Varicella zoster virus as a vaccine candidate through in-silico use. Some of the software and websites used are MEGA-X, IEDB, VaxiJen 2.0, BLASTp NCBI. Indonesia menjadi salah satu negara yang menyumbang angka kasus TB terbanyak di dunia. Vaksin BCG yang telah digunakan selama ini juga masih memiliki kelemahan dalam pencegahan kasus infeksi TBC. Penelitian ini menyajikan desain vaksin secara in silico yang dirancang berdasarkan protein Rv1973, yang merupakan outer membrane protein dari M. tuberculosis H37Rv. Analisa dilakukan dengan tahapan sebagai berikut: prediksi struktur dan lokasi protein, pencarian kandidat epitope, analisa imunologi epitop, penentuan dan pemodelan kandidat epitope, dan interaksinya dengan reseptor sel T dan sel B, dan uji toksisitas epitop. Hasil studi in silico menunjukkan bahwa protein Rv1937 terletak pada membrane dan sebagian di sebelah luar sel. Pada protein Rv1937 terdapat beberapa epitope potensial. Protein Rv1973 memiliki lima jenis linear epitop, dengan epitop ERv105-118 terprediksi memiliki interaksi dengan reseptor sel T dan sel B tertiggi. Epitop ini terletak. Epitop ERv105-118 ini memiliki karakteristik sebagai antigen, non-alergenik, berinteraksi kuat dengan reseptor sel T dan sel B, dan non-toksik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat aktivitas antimikroba, khususnya antibakteri yang terdapat pada daun sirih merah terhadap bakteri yang resisten pada 14 macam antibiotik, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode sumuran. Hasil yang didapat adalah zona bening disekitar sumuran. Penelitian yang dilakukan mengasilkan distribusi data yang tidak normal, sehingga dilakukan uji Kruskal Wallis yang diikuti oleh uji Mann Whitney untuk menganalisis hasil yang didapat. Nilai P yang diperoleh adalah 0,006 (p<0,05) dalam artian terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna antara kelompok yang diberikan perlakuan dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Hasil yang didapat sesui dengan hipotesis awal yaitu, ekstrak daun sirih merah memiliki aktivitas antimikroba tehadap Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Besaran konsentrasi yang paling tinggi daya hambatnya ada pada konsentrasi 50% dengan rata-rata daya hambat 8,7 mm (daya hambat sedang 5-10 mm). Hal ini dapat terjadi karena adanya hambatan pada fungsi dan kerja sel bakteri Pseudomonas aeruginosa akibat zat yang terkandung dalam daun sirih merah. Harapannya pada penelitian selanjutnya, dapat diperoleh daya hambat kuat atau bahkan sangat kuat guna memperoleh dosis efektif dari daun sirih merah. Plastics cannot decay easily in natural environment for example, PET took about 23 to 48 years to decay naturally in the environment. Therefore, it is urgently needed to find an alternative to these types of plastics, namely degradable plastics. One type of degradable plastic, called starch-based bioplastic can be made using starchy materials from Breadfruit peel. This, is in combination with Blood Clam shell – derived chitin nanowhiskers as reinforcer and glycerol as plasticizer. In this research, bioplastic is synthesized using starch extracted from Breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) peel waste, reinforcing agent chitin nanowhisker (CNW) made from Blood Clam (Anadara granosa) shell waste, and glycerol as plasticizer. Furthermore, the plastic was tested according to general standard plastic tests including Tensile Strength, Water Uptake and Soil Burial test. Soil burial test results showed that in the period of less than 15 days, the bioplastic was completely decomposed. Ulum","doi":"10.47007/ijobb.v7i1.166","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.47007/ijobb.v7i1.166","url":null,"abstract":"AbstractMolecular identification using short orthological DNA sequences (DNA barcoding) has been applied for the classification of orchid species which is a major step in biodiversity management, conservation, breeding, authenticating components of herbal products, and tracking the adulteration of orchid species. One of the most widely used loci for phylogenetic inference at the generic and infrageneric levels in plants was ITS located between 18S rDNA, 5.8S rDNA, and 26S rDNA. The ITS or ITS2 region has been suggested as a plant barcode in some previous studies. However, DNA barcoding using the entire ITS genome is considered less effective and efficient in the process of PCR amplification and sequencing. Besides, complete DNA barcodes are difficult to obtain from herbarium samples and herbal products because some DNA sequences have been degraded. DNA mini-barcodes were developed over the past ten years to overcome issues related to DNA barcoding. DNA mini-barcodes use shorter DNA segments for PCR amplification, so they can identify species effectively and efficiently compared to the regular DNA barcoding. Specific primers that encode the ITS1 and ITS2 regions need to be designed for the PCR amplification. DNA mini-barcoding ITS has proven useful in species identification, classification studies, and authentication of specific orchid species. Tumbuhan paku (Pteridophyta)  banyak ditemukan di daerah pegunungan daripada di dataran rendah. Tumbuhan paku (Pteridophyta) dapat hidup di tanah, merambat ataupun menumpang pada pohon inangnya. Faktor lingkungan yang dapat mempengaruhi pertumbuhannya antara lain aliran air, kelembaban udara, curah hujan yang cukup tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis keanekaragaman pterydophyta atau tumbuhan paku yang dapat ditemukan di sungai gayam Desa Walen, Kecamatan Simo Kab. Boyolali. Serta untuk mengetahui faktor yang mempengaruhi pertumbuhan Pterydophyta atau tumbuhan paku. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penlitian ini adalah metode kuadran (plot). Data yang diperoleh kemudian di analisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan penelitian, data yang diperoleh yaitu ditemukan 134 spesies yang terdiri atas 9 spesies yaitu Homalosorus pycnocarpos (3 spesies), Pteris vittate (11 spesies), Pleocnemia irregularis (29 spesies), Pteris tremula (15 spesies), Nephrolepis cordifolia (29 spesies), Thelypteris palustris (13 spesies), Pteris ensiformis Burm. f. (12 spesies), Rumohra adiantiformis (6 spesies), dan Adiantum sp (16 spesies). Keanekaragaman tumbuhan paku (Pterydophyta) di sungai Gayam Desa Walen, Kecamatan Simo Kab. Boyolali adalah 1,1101. Indeks diversitas menurut Shannon-Weiner berada pada kategori kedua yaitu Nilai 1 ≤ H’ ≤ 3. Maka, Indeks keanekaragaman spesies pterydophyta atau tumbuhan paku pada suatu transek bersifat sedang. Faktor mempengaruhi pertumbuhan Pterydophyta yaitu suhu, kelembaban, dan pH. Makroalga merupakan sumber biologi kelautan yang berperan penting dalam ekosistem perairan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keanekaragaman makroalga di Pantai Kelapa, sehingga diharapkan dapat memberikan gambaran tentang keanekaragaman makroalga di Pantai Kelapa. Metode yang digunakan adalah observasi, penelusuran sepanjang jalur pantai, dan dokumentasi. Data penelitian dianalisis untuk mengetahui keragaman, keseragaman dan dominasi menggunakan indeks keragaman Shannon-Wiener, Indeks Keseragaman, dan Indeks Dominansi Simpson. Hasil yang diperoleh sebanyak 12 spesies makroalga dari tiga divisi, yaitu divisi Rhodophyta 9 spesies, Phaeophyta 2 spesies, dan Chlorophyta 1 spesies. Sedangkan hasil analisis indeks keanekaragaman diperoleh 2.066 dalam kategori sedang, indeks keseragaman berdasarkan perhitungan diperoleh 0,687 termasuk kategori sedang, dan indeks dominasi 0,12304 diperoleh dalam kategori rendah. The rice field landscape ecological data was extracted from Google Maps. Types, rice production, farmer profiles and selection of rice straw utilization practices were known through interviews. Results showed that elongated fragments (70%) were common in paddy fields and the rest (30%) were hexagonal in shape. Corridors in dry rice fields are bunds with a width of 40-50 cm, while in wet rice fields the bunds are wider (60-80 cm). Farmer average ownership is ±3.917.6 m2. The most widely grown local rice varieties are Siam Pandak Laut (straw yellow lemma and palea, stem height ±145 cm) and Siam Cantik (golden yellow lemma and palea on straw yellow background, stem height ±160 cm). The level of local rice production reaches 1.5 – 3.1 Ton/Ha per growing season. Estimated production of rice straw is 2.1 – 4.4 Ton/Ha. Gender farmers are mostly women (76%), compared to only about 24% of men. The status of land ownership is smallholder farmers as much as 80%. The highest respondent's age (48%) is 40-50 years old and the least is over 50 years old (24%). Most of the farmers (84%) stated that they did not use rice straw, arguing that the practice had been passed down (64%). Kandidiasis vulvovaginalis merupakan penyebab keputihan yang paling sering, prevalensinya sebesar 40%, dengan karakteristik cairan yang keluar biasanya kental, putih seperti susu, bau, dan disertai rasa gatal yang hebat  pada kemaluan. Berdasarkan kajian fitofarmaka, diduga tanaman kesum memiliki aktivitas antiviral, antibakteri, antijamur, antioksidan, antikanker dan antiulcer. Tanaman daun kesum dapat digunakan sebagai obat yang diakibatkan oleh jamur.  Daun kesum (Polygonum minus Huds.) mengandung senyawa-senyawa metabolit sekunder yang dapat digunakan sebagai antifungi. Metabolit sekunder tersebut berupa flavonoid, aldehid, terpenoid, gerniol dan senyawa fenolik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui jumlah koloni jamur Candida albicans pada plate  yang diberikan perasan daun kesum (Polygonum minus Huds), aktivitas air perasan daun kesum (Polygonum minus Huds) dan menganalisis pengaruh air perasan daun kesum (Polygonum minus Huds) terhadap daya hambat pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans metode dilusi. Metodologi penelitian ini merupakan Quasi Experimental Design. Salah satu obat yang telah diterima untuk pengobatan AD diisolasi dari tanaman Galanthus nivalis berperan sebagai inhibitor acetylcholinesterase (AChe), galantamine, yang memiliki efek yang singkat. Penerimaan terhadap senyawa herbal semakin luas karena kebutuhan obat baru dengan efek samping lebih sedikit dibandingkan obat sintetis. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi piperine (PIP), piperlongumine (PL), dan thymoquinone (TQ) yang berasal dari Cabe Jawa (Piper retrofractum), Sirih Hitam (Piper betle var. nigra), dan Jinten Hitam (Nigella sativa) sebagai obat AD. Struktur senyawa diperoleh dari PubChem, kemudian struktur 3D-nya dibangun menggunakan Chimera agar kompatibel untuk docking molekular dengan Autodock, PyRx, dan Biovia Discovery Visualization. Aktivitas biologi ketiganya diprediksi menggunakan PASS way2drug, sedangkan sifat fisikokimia dan farmakokinetiknya dengan Swiss ADME dan pkCSM. Berdasarkan prediksi sifat fisikokimia dan farmakokinetik, ketiga senyawa tersebut memenuhi syarat sebagai obat. Docking molekular menunjukkan bahwa ketiganya dapat berinteraksi dengan reseptor. Untuk interaksi dengan AChe, PIP paling baik, disusul dengan PL dan TQ. PL Untuk interaksi dengan butyrylcholinesterase (BChe), PL paling baik, disusul dengan PIP dan TQ. Walaupun nilai binding affinity TQ lebih rendah dibandingkan kedua senyawa lainnya, namun TQ lebih mudah menembus blood brain barrier (BBB) dan memiliki aktivitas biologi yang berpotensi aktif (nilai Pa > 0.7) terkait AD lebih banyak dibandingkan kedua senyawa lainnya.
