Although there are a wide range of chemicals being used today to control white flies, the flies have developed resistance to them. Tomato seedlings were raised in nurseries in triplicate. Seven modified green houses were made using two cartons that were cat to give supporting frames that gave support to polythene papers. Twelve tomato seedlings were placed in each modified greenhouse. Two hundred white flies were introduced into each modified green house. A noisy radio was placed in six of the modified greenhouse while the seventh greenhouse acted as a control. The number of eggs lied and those that subsequently hatched were determined for 2 months. The data obtained was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25 software. There was no significant difference in the germination percent between the plots (F=0.250803859 P=0.782154004). There was a significant difference between the number of eggs laid in the experimental greenhouses and the control greenhouse (P=0.040140971). There was a significant difference between the number of eggs that hatched in the experimental greenhouses and the control greenhouse (P=0.017298).Tomato seedlings were raised in the nursery for 6 weeks. Acoustic vibrations produced by the radio affected the number of eggs laid by the white flies and subsequently their hatching. Use of Acoustic noise as a way of controlling whiteflies is highly recommended to both small scale and large scale farmers all over the world.","PeriodicalId":228982,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Bio Innovation","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121961944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over 1 billion people worldwide have hypertension, 40% of whom are adults older than 25years, which implies its prevalence increases further with age [6]. Our study focused on (hypertensive emergencies) HTN-E only, with general objective to describe how health factors influence the evolution of geriatric hypertensive emergencies in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Yaounde emergency center. Materials and methods : This was a quantitative, descriptive, prospective, and cross-sectional study. The study lasted for 06 months, from January to June 2018. Data collection spanned from April to May 2018. The inclusion criteria were: the patients aged 60 years and above, admitted in the ICU for hypertensive emergencies within April to May 2018, the patients who consented to the study, the elderly patients with complete medical records. Results : Our sample was dominated by young-old patients, with a percentage of 73.3% (n = 22). we find a and cardiovascular deficits (43.3%). Our results revealed higher chances of death with higher APACHE II scores and more chances of discharge in case of low APACHE II score.","PeriodicalId":228982,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Bio Innovation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130599734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kurtz belong to a Family of Lecythidaceae, is a species native to mangrove habitats in the tropical with a pinkish grey stem bark. It has been commonly used in traditional medicine for a range of ailments and is consumed as raw vegetable in Malaysia. The aim of the study was to synthesis and to evaluate the antibacterial activity of ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) from organic extracts of Barringtonia asiatica stem-bark using zinc chloride (ZnCl2) and zinc acetate dehydrate [Zn (CH3COO)2∙2H2O] as precursors on selected Gram positive and Gram negative bacterial: Escherichia coli (Gram–ve), Staphylococcus aureus, (Gram +ve), Pseudomonas aeruinosa (Gram –ve), Bcillus anthracis (Gram+ve) and Klebsielia Pneumonia (Gram +ve). Obtained was a Spherical and flake-like nanostructures recorded by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) for B.asiatica for the two precursors used. The average particle size and crystallite size determined by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) for B: asiatica were in the range of 31.868.0.26 nm and 31.6-67.7 nm respectively. To observe the purity and surface functional groups of the samples, Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), UVvisible spectroscopy (UV-vis), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) techniques were used and the Spectra peaks at 440-458 cm-1 and 364-370 nm confirmed the presence of ZnO in the samples by FT-IR and UV-vis, whereas AAS at 214.8 nm wavelength further confirmed elemental zinc with a percentage atomic weight of 72.16% as against 65.78%, 16.38%, 11.86% and 70.49%, 15.32%, 12.26% for Zinc, Oxygen and Carbon by EDX. The result from the antibacterial activity studies show an increase in inhibition rate as concentration of the ZnO NPs increases in concentration from 25-1000 μg/ml. ZnO NPs from B. asiatica stem-bark extracts recorded the highest inhibition rate in Staphylococcus aureus recorded the highest inhibition of 3.99 ± 0.17 mm at 1000 μg/ml of Barringtonia asiatica stem-bark of ZnO precursor.","PeriodicalId":228982,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Bio Innovation","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124664712","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
