The results suggest that the small cities harbour the epicentre for adulteration in milk and milk products as the consumers are ignorant of new sophisticated method used by the manufacturer or the retailer at these places. Adulteration in milk and milk product was significantly high in Allahabad city (55.56%) in the year 2010–11. Agra was found to be centre of adulteration in Khoya (41.53%). The remedy, then for this type of fraud is the awareness of the general public to such an extent that it can detect any case of adulteration or substitution.","PeriodicalId":227852,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Man - An International Journal","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125781512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is a need to better understand the beliefs and attitudes of members of the general population. The present study has been undertaken to study the environmental attitude of school-college, male-female students of Surguja district. The first question of the present study was to examine whether male and female respondents would show significant difference in their environmental attitude. The second question of the present study was to examine whether the school and college students would show significant difference in their environmental attitude. A total of 100 students-50 male and 50 female (age groups 10–15 and 21–25 years)-were randomly selected for study. Environmental attitude scale developed by Dr. N.N. Shrivastava and Ku. Shashiprabha Dubey was used. The data were analysed by using CR. Results show that CR for the gender and age towards environmental attitude were found to be insignificant.","PeriodicalId":227852,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Man - An International Journal","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134515848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Agricultural lands are believed to be a potential sink that can absorb huge quantity of carbon if trees are reintroduced into these systems and judiciously managed together with crops and/or animals. Soil organic carbon (SOC) pools are important in maintaining soil productivity and influencing the CO2 loading into the atmosphere. Agricultural soils can mitigate the problem of carbon concentration increase in atmosphere if proper management practices are involved. Agricultural activities can influence the changes in SOC both in the short and the long terms. Soil carbon sequestration in agricultural ecosystems can prove to be a near-term option to mitigate the enhanced level of CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. Agriculture may not compete with forestry or agroforestry system based on its high carbon sequestration capacity but it can enrol itself significantly in this field if some better management practices can be involved.","PeriodicalId":227852,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Man - An International Journal","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123968525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Owing to the impact of modernisation, the Juangs are expanding (highly rich) into different cultural activities from the mainstream society. They practice unique traditionsas well as retain social, cultural, economic and political characteristics that are distinct from those of the other dominant societies in other parts of the state. To preserve their cultural identities, the Juangs have been allowed to have an institution in accordance with their traditional customary law and practices. They have their own youth dormitory system called majanga; this traditional institution has helped in the preservation of their culture and customs and also in the maintenance of their separate identity. This paper is focused on the Juang majanga system and on grain bank-storing practices, which is anintegral part of their cultural and economic domain.","PeriodicalId":227852,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Man - An International Journal","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126162817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The major objectives of the study are to assess the condition of basic amenities, awareness, socio-economy and 0–59 month children's morbidity during two periods and its changes in India, Central India and two states of Central India-MP and Chhattisgarh, and also to assess the important factors which are responsible for changing the morbidity pattern among the children. For this study, national level data of two periods that is National Family Health Survey (NFHS)-2 and NFHS-3 have been used. The sample sizes used in NFHS-2 are 30, 970 for India, 6, 608 for Central India and 2, 631 for MP. In NFHS-3, the sample sizes are 48, 656 for India, 10, 750 for Central India, 2, 801 for MP and 1, 471 for Chhattisgarh. Morbidity status has been judged through diarrhoea, cough and fever. It is seen from our study that, at present, occurrences of morbidity is more or less same in India, Central India, MP and Chhattisgarh, and the changes are more or less in same magnitude from its previous time period. A very peculiar observation is that, in India, morbidity rate is high in rural areas than in urban areas, but in Central India, MP and Chhattisgarh, the picture is completely reverse that is in urban areas, morbidity is higher than in rural areas and among the illiterate persons, morbidity is the lowest. The probable reason of this may be that, the morbidity status has been judged from self-reporting method. If the reporter is not properly aware about the condition of illness, how can he or she will be able to judge the level of illness correctly; i.e. why, due to the differences in understanding, the reported morbidity differs. In general, it can be said that morbidity depends on socioeconomy, awareness and basic development strategies of the community and the individuals.","PeriodicalId":227852,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Man - An International Journal","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129418901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the fundamental issues of population ageing is the living arrangement of the elderly because the societal values declined due to the impact of urbanisation and industrialisation. People like the Muslim's elderly is the more vulnerable group for lack of literacy, economic dependency, structure of household and so on and the vulnerability is more prone for those who are living in rural areas. There are more studies documenting the living arrangement of elderly except Muslims. Therefore, keeping these backdrops in mind, the present study attempts to explore the present nature of living arrangement and its determinants of the 133 elderly Muslim people from both sexes living in the villages. This research work analyses the socio-economic, demographic, household characteristics to determine their living arrangement. The study revealed that majority (90%) of them were living with their spouse and surviving sons and only 05.26% were living alone. In view of the changing socio-economic and demographic condition there is a higher proportion of the elderly living alone in the future.","PeriodicalId":227852,"journal":{"name":"The Asian Man - An International Journal","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129866020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
