The aim of this study is to determine the cyberbullying and cyber victimization levels and cyber security awareness of university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The universe of the cross-sectional study consists of Kutahya Health Sciences University Vocational School students. The questionnaire forms prepared online were answered by 823 students. Survey form includes; the personal data form containing sociodemographic data, questions to measure the level of possession and usage features of information communication tools about cyber security awareness, and cyberbullying scale (CBS) and cyber victimization scale (CVS). The data analyses were performed using Mann Whitney-U test, Kruskal Wallis test and Spearman correlation. Results: 3.2% (n=26) of the students reported that they were cyberbullying and 35.1% (n=289) of the students reported that they were cyber-victimized. The median values of CBS and CVS scores were detected as; 1.5 [minimum (min): 0- maximum (max): 14] and 9 (min: 0-max: 30), respectively. The CVS score was found to be higher in those over the age of 22, in female students, in those who use the Internet for more than 5 hours a day besides online classes, and in students who increased the amount of cigarette/alcohol use in the last year (p<0.05). No statistically significant correlation was found between the CBS score and some characteristics of the students (p>0.05). Conclusion: While the frequency of cyberbullying and the scale score were very low among the students, it was found that 3 out of 10 students experienced cyber victimization and the scale score was not very high. However, the identification of risk groups exposed to cyber victimization is important in terms of developing future intervention programs and taking measures at the regional level.","PeriodicalId":217673,"journal":{"name":"The Bulletin of Legal Medicine","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129812942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to investigate of blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of drivers after involved in a traffic accident or for suspected for drunkenness in the roadside traffic control in the Turkey’s four major cities. Methods: In this study, we retrospectively reviewed the laboratory registrations in university hospitals in four big cities of Turkey (Van, Manisa, Diyarbakır and Samsun) for BAC for five years (from 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2019) of the drivers. Results: In 342 cases (7.1%), BACs were above the cut-off value (0.01 g/100 mL). Of the cases sent for alcohol determination, 11.3% were women and 88.7% were men, and their mean age was 35.3±13.1. In 342 alcohol positive cases, BACs were above 0.101% in 58.8% of cases. BAC positivity of the cases was 9.4% in Manisa, 6.3% in Van, 5.3% in Samsun, and 5% in Diyarbakır. BAC was found to be positive in 4.4% (n=24) of females and 7.4% (n=318) of males (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study is one of the limited number of multicentre studies in this field; it was concluded in the study that zero tolerance should be for drunk driving in traffic, the deterrence of fines should be increased, and roadside screening tests should be used more widely.","PeriodicalId":217673,"journal":{"name":"The Bulletin of Legal Medicine","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124037284","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Especially, the domination of punishment practices over space revealed the evolution of the spatial response of punishing in the historical process. As a part of the social discipline, the organization and the typology of confinement place has paved the way for the change and development of the building typologies produced in architectural sense. However, the studies carried out on the architectural practices of the place, where the crime was committed, point out to the year of 2010 at the earliest, and the production of space with new methods on this area shows that a new branch has emerged, forensic architecture. At this point, this study deal with the importance of integrating the fictional situation of the space by considering the notions of crime, punishment and castigating from forensic architecture to prison architecture.","PeriodicalId":217673,"journal":{"name":"The Bulletin of Legal Medicine","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132730040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: A survey, trying to determine the attitudes and behaviors of the students in the face of possible scenarios including ethical dilemmas in their medical professional life, was applied on 111 volunteer participants, covering fifth semester medical students. “SPSS for Windows 17.0” package program was used to analyze the acquired data. Results: It was observed that medical faculty students taking forensic medicine internship training stated that they would present a statistically significant level of ethical approach compared to those not taking forensic medicine internship training in all six scenarios with ethical dilemma (Scenarios 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 p<0.01/Scenario 3 p<0.05). Conclusion: Ethical dilemmas are the significant issues that a physician will often encounter throughout his career. Physicians should solve these dilemmas by knowing about their ethical responsibilities and the national and international regulations on these responsibilities. Thus, teaching about the medical ethics and these regulations in medical education has a particular importance. It was thought that there should not be such a significant difference of an ethical approach among the students in the same period of their education process. Since ethic is the common ground of all medical branches, each branch should include the education of ethic in its curriculum.","PeriodicalId":217673,"journal":{"name":"The Bulletin of Legal Medicine","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129384255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study intends to discuss the concept of “the effects of bone fracture/dislocation on a person’s life functions”, considering both the legal and medical dimensions, and it provides solutions to the potential problems by addressing this issue regarding the Supreme Court’s decisions. The effects of bone fracture/dislocation in the legal literature focus on to what extent the fracture influences the victim’s daily life, whether the victim maintains his/her everyday life, whether he/she is able to do his/her job. However, in The Guideline of Evaluating Bodily Injury Offences in the TPC from Forensics Perspective, the effects of bone fracture/dislocation on life functions reflects the severity of fracture/dislocation and trauma. Although the guideline facilitates the standardization in this issue, it has noticeable limitations in legal principle of equality. There emerges a need for scale to provide objective and scientific data about the effects of fracture/dislocation. This research presents several validated and reliable scales to be used in Forensics and offers a method of calculating more than one fracture.","PeriodicalId":217673,"journal":{"name":"The Bulletin of Legal Medicine","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121866290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Probation system has been implemented in Turkey since the year 2006. The aims of this study are to examine the relationships between sociodemographic, clinical features, criminal records of individuals who have probation and treatment and to evaluate the results of the application. Methods: A hundred fourty five individuals who applied to the probation office were prospectively included in terms of their sociodemographic features, substance use, forensic medical features, and the psychiatric diagnosis. During the implementation of the probation system, substance level analysis in urine samples was carried out as three and six-visit programs. Results: Of the participants, 142 (97.9%) were male and 3 (2.1%) were female. In the study, it was observed that individuals were mostly male, single, aged between 18 and 30 years, had a low level of education and income, and used marijuana as a substance. History of multiple substance use was determined in 59.3% of the cases. Conclusion: It was concluded that individuals should be educated about the substance since primary school period and social awareness should be provided. In addition, individuals with a low educational level were more likely to commit crimes and attended the six-visit program. It was thought that both implemented programs were similarly efficient and these programs should be continued effectively. Finally, it was evaluated that better clinical results could be obtained if a detailed psychiatric examination was performed in individuals with multiple substance use.","PeriodicalId":217673,"journal":{"name":"The Bulletin of Legal Medicine","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133529250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
