In this context, with this social descriptive study, it was aimed to reveal the sociodemographical characteristics, adaptation problems, suicidal attempt and self-harm behaviors, synthetic cannabinoid (SC) use histories, patterns and effect expectations as well as the perceptions of SC users. Methods: The present study is based on the form containing structured and semi-structured questions created by the researcher and it was conducted through one-to-one interviews with 70 male patients who were receiving substance abuse treatment. Results: Based on the results of the study, 41% (n=29) of the participants were unemployed and 60% (n=42) of them dropped out of school. They encountered problems such as being invalid out of the army (7.1%) and discipline (17.1%) during their military service. And it was observed that there were 71 crimes that 51 of the participants were associated with. The first drug used by the 12.5% (n=9) of the participants was SC. 24% (n=17) of them applied to the emergency department due to negative side effects they experienced due to SC use. 5.7% of the participants had little or no hope that they would be able to stop using SC. As a result, it was observed that the participants had problems in adaptation to education and military service processes, experienced intense legal problems, and had health problems due to substance effects. It is believed that both the improvement of preventive/therapeutic studies and inform health and legal pesonelle about the users and effects of synthetic cannabinoids is substantial.","PeriodicalId":217673,"journal":{"name":"The Bulletin of Legal Medicine","volume":"57 39","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131471657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: The research was carried out as descriptive. The sample consisted of 140 students studying at the faculty of engineering-architecture, the faculty of science and literature, and the school of health sciences. Data collection tools consisted of two parts. In the first part, there were questions about sociodemographic characteristics and sexuality. In the second part, there were 15 myths about sexual myths and sexual assault myths created by researchers with the aid of literature. Results: The mean age of the students participating in the study was 21.98±1.70 years, and 48.6% (n=68) were female and 51.4% were male. 32.1% (n=45) of them were in the nursing department of SBYO, 25.7% (n=36) were in the departments of the engineering-architecture faculty, and 42.1% (n=59) were in the departments of the faculty of science and literature. It was observed that the students got information about sexuality mostly from communication tools (44.2%) and 48.6% (n=68) had negative thoughts about sexual intercourse before marriage. It was concluded that men, nursing and engineering-architecture faculty students and those who had a negative opinion about sexual intercourse before marriage were significantly more likely to agree with some sexual myths/sexual assault myths. Conclusion: There are those who accept these myths as true, albeit at a low rate, among university students. This may be due to gender roles, restrictive cultural norms, and the inadequacy of education and information on sexual assault and sexuality in the education system. Shaping the education system will provide university students’ awareness about sexual myths and sexual assault myths and will help students acquire and internalize correct information.","PeriodicalId":217673,"journal":{"name":"The Bulletin of Legal Medicine","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132912406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Apart from forensic medical evaluations, the importance of multidimensional evaluations of patients draws attention. In this context, the effectiveness of physical therapy and rehabilitation gains importance in the treatment of physical limitations. In our study, we aimed to examine the participation of patients who applied to Department of Forensic Medicine for the determination of the rate of disability due to injuries caused by an accident, to physical therapy and rehabilitation programs for sequelae and treatment. Methods: The data of 114 cases were examined in a prospective, descriptive study. The average age of the subjects participating in the study was 36.25±13.38 years and their gender distribution was 43 (37.7%) female and 71 (62.3%) male. Results: While 42 (36.8%) of the cases participated in the physical therapy and rehabilitation program at least once due to traffic accident injury, 72 (63.2%) did not. As a result of the statistical analysis, it was found that there was no significant difference in participation to the physical therapy and rehabilitation program according to age, gender, education level and injury site. Conclusion: We think that participation in the physical therapy and rehabilitation program will increase the quality of life with the contribution it will provide at a functional level.","PeriodicalId":217673,"journal":{"name":"The Bulletin of Legal Medicine","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122260281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study examines the pandemic’s risks on forensic medicine physicians’ health, changes in forensic medicine service, and physicians’ opinions about the non-forensic medical duties. Methods: We applied a survey with 31 questions to 220 physicians, including specialist and assistant positions in the field of forensic medicine. We surveyed changes in daily and working life conditions. Results: 52% of physicians stated that their occupation increased their worries about COVID-19. The rate of the participants, who changed their accommodation sites during the pandemic, was 19%. They also declared a diminishing number of weekly working days. Of 154 people performing a forensic clinical examination, 87% stated that the number of cases decreased, and 23% specified that family violence cases increased. One hundred twenty-eight physicians (58%) were redeployed to non-forensic medicine services. COVID examination room and COVID clinic were the most assigned departments (60 and 26 participants, respectively). The rate of those who did not consider themselves sufficient for these tasks was 27%. Conclusion: The lockdown period has reduced the workload of forensic medicine for a while. In this period, forensic medicine physicians have highly employed in COVID services, especially residents. As there were notable changes in examination and living environments, the rate of feeling inadequate for non-forensic medical duties has approached one fifth. Structuring postgraduate or on-site education of the physicians will keep these skills alive.","PeriodicalId":217673,"journal":{"name":"The Bulletin of Legal Medicine","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133283713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
