Blok in the formation of his own poetic system. The work of the outstanding artist of the Silver Age is discussed in Shalamov’s essays (in more than twenty works), as well as in “Kolyma Tales” and unpublished notes about Blok (The Russian State Archive of Literature and Arts). Shalamov emphasizes that Blok is a great poet, at the same time very little studied. It is precisely taken poetic lines of Blok that serve as the epigraph for “Kolyma notebooks”. The article analyzes parallels in the worldview of the two poets (a feeling of the closest relationship of personal fate with the turning points in Russian history); in the imagery (in particular, various levels of interpretation of the snowstorm motif, which has special significance in the work of both poets, are discussed in detail. Shalamov’s succession in relation to Blok in comprehension of this image is shown, as well as cardinal differences in its explication in the lyrics of the two poets). The unanimity in understanding the challenges of art is analyzed (Blok’s idea of combining “beauty and benefit” in artistic work is close to Shalamov’s thinking); in verse technique (special significance of phonetic component). Not only published texts are involved in the study, but also materials stored in Shalamov’s archive at the Russian State Archive of Literature and Arts.","PeriodicalId":217516,"journal":{"name":"Philology & Human","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113993352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper starts with the definition of realia, specified according to the authors’ point of view. The research is concentrated on the comparison of the classifications of «our» and «their» culturally specific units in the Russian rapper’s creative texts. The hypothesis consists in the assumption that foreign realia prevail in the singer’s lyrics. The lexical units under discussion are divided into eleven classes: geographical names; words referring to science, art and the media; names of historical events; realia naming various organizations etc. The charts with a detailed quantitative analysis of the selected realia are presented in the article. The results of the qualitative analysis of the considered lexical units are given in the concluding part. The authors form the opinion that the formulated hypothesis proves right. Thorough research into the song lyrics marked with realia is considered to facilitate a better understanding of the cultural component in these songs, as well as the influence of the author’s personality on their creative product.","PeriodicalId":217516,"journal":{"name":"Philology & Human","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115709436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It reveals the author’s idea of “earthly heaven” and “earthly hell” in his short stories as reflection of his worldview, morale and attitude to people. There have been discussed poetic techniques significant for D. Kainchin, such as dream and related states (delirium, hallucinations, and quick views under some external influence) which help the author to give an insight into a person. The author of this article uses comparative historical, structural and semiotic methods and the method of complex analysis of fiction. The author of the study describes and systematizes the ways by which metatextuality reveals itself in a literary text. The material under analysis is English religious metaphors which are studied in quality and popular British newspapers (The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror). According to the traditional point of view, modern research of sports discourse is inseparable from the analysis of media texts, as media do not only cover sports events most effectively but also determine their assessment. Metaphors are considered to provide informative accuracy necessary for effective communication, they create images that affect the attitude of the reader to events covered by the media.","PeriodicalId":217516,"journal":{"name":"Philology & Human","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122659981","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cantemir to his Russian translation of Conversations on the Plurality of Worlds. The content, the language and the genre of the footnotes prove them to be addressed to the Russian reader. On the linguistic level, it is expressed by actualization of modus categories and metatextual means that do not only point at the addresser indirectly, but also highlight the reader’s figure in the footnotes’ text. Actualization of modus categories allows Cantemir to bring him closer to the reader in the same textual space and time, whereas metatextual units control the reader’s attention by structuring information. Interaction of these linguistic means within the text of footnotes provides interaction between Cantemir and the Russian reader: their common space and time increase the persuasive effect of explanations and examples introduced by metatextual means.","PeriodicalId":217516,"journal":{"name":"Philology & Human","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116141480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, the theme of suicide is also brought up in connection with the overwhelming task of interpreting the event. However, the writer ultimately changed his writing strategy to produce “A Gentle Creatureˮ. Basing the story on an actual case of a suicide committed by a young woman amplified with autobiographical details, Dostoevsky develops a narrative model with complexity exceeding that of the original interpretation of the fact while in its essence being equivalent to the complexity of reality itself. The images of a straight line and a dot, employed by the author to interpret the event and the text of the short story, demonstrate that the author sees as a problem converting true-life information into a compressed narrative. Thus, in his short story “A Gentle Creatureˮ Dostoevsky offers the reader a model as complex as the life itself.","PeriodicalId":217516,"journal":{"name":"Philology & Human","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125631910","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
