Pyrethroids are specially recommended insecticides as they have low mammalian toxicity, but they are known to cause an alteration in biochemical parameters and affect the oxidative status of the body through producing free radicals. However, it has been found that some herbal extracts can ameliorate the toxicity induced by the pesticides and other chemicals but the search for such compounds will always be an urgent need to achieve the optimum degree of amelioration. For this purpose, the present study was designed to evaluate the oxidative stress produced by lambda cyhalothrin, a synthetic type-II pyrethroid and ameliorating effect of green tea extract in albino rats.","PeriodicalId":217255,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biological Innovations","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116744589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our ancestors imparted this knowledge to us through various folktales, mythological stories and events in the epics. Lots of religious practices and worship in houses and temples on various festivals and ceremonies are still followed right from the birth to death, all associated with plants. These associations can be traced from prehistoric age to present so called civilized age without interruption. This submission discusses 36 plant species which are used in socio-religious ceremonies in and around Gonda and Balrampur districts of Terai region of U.P., India.","PeriodicalId":217255,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biological Innovations","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125151317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Halver's synthetic diet (H440) was supplemented with graded levels of vitamin C at 0, 250, 500, 600, 750 and 1000 mg/kg. In present investigation, Labeo rohita fed with 600 mg/kg vitamin C, gain maximum ash (4.16%), carbohydrate (2.94%) protein (16.87%), fat (5.09 %), SGR (2.92 %), survival rate (100 %) with least moisture content (77.10 %) as compared to control and other graded level of vitamin C. Supplementation of vitamin C beyond 600 mg resulted in decrease in protein, fat, carbohydrate and ash values with an increase in moisture content. The results also indicated that Halver's synthetic diet of fish without dietary vitamin C had lower weight gain (WG) and specific growth rate (SGR) than those fed the diets supplemented vitamin C. WG and SGR did increase with dietary vitamin C levels increasing from 250 mg/ kg to 600 mg / kg. However, no significant increase was observed with further increase in dietary vitamin C levels beyond 600 mg / kg. The deep wound so created leads to mortality of the fish resulting in negative impact on broodstock population and farmers' income. Attempts made for post-surgical revival of the fish (weight 110.0-190.0 g/fish) by performing the incision with minimum injury revealed that the fish had amazing capacity of wound healing by regeneration of lost tissue with 83.9-92.6 % (average 87.8%) post-surgical recovery. The incision (4.0-4.5 cm in length) had completely healed within 30-35 days without any medication or stitching. There was post-surgical regeneration of the testicular tissue after 190±10 days in 90% of the randomly sampled fish. Fully developed testes were observed in 86.9% of the samples after 280-310 days of post-surgery rearing. These findings pave the way to address the inherent problem of mortality of male broods vis a vis to explore possible biomedical application of the regenerating capacity of the fish.","PeriodicalId":217255,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biological Innovations","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125580914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Germplasm of its 10 varieties were biochemically analysed for seed soluble protein content and their electrophoretic characterization. In electrophoretic characterization of seed proteins, Native PAGE and SDS PAGE were performed, respectively. Native PAGE and SDS PAGE were analysed by preparing a zymogram. An UPGMA dendrogram showing the genetic relationships among selected Vigna germplasm obtained by using the SDS-PAGE pattern of seed storage proteins was prepared. The germplasm was characterized biochemically by analysing protein polymorphism profile through Native and SDS PAGE. The soluble seed protein content values ranged from 36.23 to 57.53 mg/g. The protein polymorphism revealed a wide variability with respect to the number and mobility of bands. The seed proteins of Vigna species studied on Native PAGE exhibited the existence of 42 protein bands located in three zones namely A, B and C. All the selected species of the Vigna evaluated by SDS-PAGE exhibited a considerable genetic variation and hence the results obtained could be of broader spectrum.","PeriodicalId":217255,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biological Innovations","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116254026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dust affects the photosynthesis, respiration, transpiration and allows the penetration of phytotoxic gaseous pollutants. The present exploration was undertaken to study the seasonal variation in dust deposition on leaves and its impact on chlorophyll content of two common tree species namely Azadirachta indica and Bauhinia variegata. This research was conducted during March 2019 to February 2020 on both these plant species in the region of JP cement plant. Authors found that cement dust had a significant effect on the photosynthetic pigments such as chlorophyll 'a', chlorophyll 'b' and total chlorophyll content. Maximum dust deposition occurred during winter followed by summer and rainy season in both plant species. The authors reported a significant negative correlation between dust load and chlorophyll content in all the three seasons. Azadirachta indica showed more dust deposition rates in comparison to Bauhinia variegata. Thus, plants can be used in the abatement of dust pollution as they act as natural filters.","PeriodicalId":217255,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biological Innovations","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123805401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
