Statistical analysis used frequencies, means, and standard deviations. Association between Apgar and good obstetric practices was analyzed using chi-square and Fisher's exact tests.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>a total of 1,503 women were included. The variables referral hospital, skin-to-skin contact, and presence of a companion had positive outcomes on Apgar scores.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>despite the adversities of the pandemic, some good practices were maintained, and Apgar score was positive. Components with Content Validity Indexes below 0.80 were modified or reclassified.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>all diagnostic definitions achieved satisfactory scores. Related factors with the highest validity index were \"deficient social support\" and \"inadequate/hurried communication from health care professionals\". \"Cognitive impairment\" was the most prominent associated condition. In the at risk population category, \"immigrants and/or non-native language speakers\" achieved the highest score. Thirty-two nursing students were assigned to an experimental group (n=17) or a control group (n=15). The intervention comprised a theoretical component and a simulation-high fidelity for the experimental group and medium fidelity for the control group. Data were collected with a sociodemographic questionnaire, a theoretical test, a skills checklist, and a Debriefing Assessment Scale. Statistical analysis included the chi-square test, the Mann-Whitney U test, ANOVA, and effect size, at a 5% significance level (α=0.05).</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>both groups showed significant improvement in theoretical knowledge (p<0.05). The groups did not differ significantly in skills (p=0.853). Sociodemographic, clinical, event-related, and post-fall data were collected and analyzed using descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>among the 89 medical records analyzed, falls were more frequent among elderly male patients, presenting with psychomotor agitation/mental confusion, occurring in the afternoon period and while on stretchers. Logistic regression revealed that patients who developed complications following the fall were associated with a higher degree of harm requiring intervention (moderate, severe, or death). Overall parameters of (OR: 19.64; p = 0.007), while only female sex related to (OR: 0.16; p = 0.037).</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>in emergency settings, patients who experienced complications due to falls tended to evolve with a degree of harm that demanded more interventions and led to irreversible outcomes. {"title":"Fears and pre-colonoscopy anxiety: a scoping review.","authors":"Hugo Castro, Nelson Martins, Patrícia Pontífice-Sousa","doi":"10.1590/0034-7167-2024-0618","DOIUrl":"10.1590/0034-7167-2024-0618","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objectives: </strong>to map the scientific evidence regarding the fears and emotions of patients undergoing colonoscopy, along with associated variables.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>a scoping review was conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute Protocol, guided by the research question: \"What are the fears and emotions associated with undergoing a colonoscopy, and associated variables?\" A literature search was performed in the PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, and RCAAP databases in June 2025, including articles in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>a total of 512 references were retrieved. After applying the inclusion criteria, 24 articles published between 1990 and 2024 were analyzed. Reported fears and emotions included concerns about medical complications, diagnosis, and pain. An improvement cycle was conducted, and data were analyzed over a one-year period at a hospital in northeastern Brazil, using nine process criteria and two outcome criteria. The analysis was performed using point estimates with a 95% Confidence Interval. Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests were performed, with a p-value <0.05.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>there was a significant increase in compliance with perioperative criteria. The study was conducted between February and July 2024. The Content Validity Index was used for analysis, with values above 0.80 considered valid.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>the 12-page booklet provides guidance on performing and interpreting HIV self-tests. It was validated by 13 experts and seven participants, achieving Content Validity Indexes of 0.92 and 0.95, respectively. Twenty-eight professionals, including physicians, nurses, and public administrators, participated. Data collection was carried out through participant observation, documentary research, semi-structured interviews, and workshops. {"title":"Precision Nursing: The Personalized Future of Care and Revolution in Clinical Practice.","authors":"Luís Carlos Lopes-Júnior","doi":"10.1590/0034-7167-2025-0423","DOIUrl":"10.1590/0034-7167-2025-0423","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objectives: </strong>to discuss the foundations, applications, challenges, and perspectives of precision nursing in contemporary practice, with an emphasis on the incorporation of genomic technologies, biomarkers, artificial intelligence and symptom science.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>a theoretical-reflective study based on recent scientific evidence.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>nurses occupy a strategic position to lead the translation of precision medicine knowledge into clinical practice, especially in symptom management and personalized decision-making. Ongoing studies on inflammatory biomarkers, gastrointestinal disorders, symptomatic distress, and the use of digital devices in self-care stand out. Ethical, structural, and training challenges persist, such as curricular reformulation, professional training, and equity in access to innovations.</p><p><strong>Final considerations: </strong>precision nursing can transform care by enabling more effective, safe, and person-centered interventions.
