According to a research from the Health Research Funding organization, between 10–30% of pharmaceuticals in underdeveloped nations are counterfeit. The primary problem is not in counterfeiting per such, but rather in the fact that these pharmaceuticals have distinct adverse consequences on human health when compared to regular drugs. The WHO estimates that over 30% of all medications sold in Latin America, Asia, and Africa are fake. This is the main issue facing the entire world, and things become worse in underdeveloped nations where one in ten medications are either counterfeit or do not adhere to drug standards. It is becoming increasingly challenging to standardize drug safety due to the growth of online pharmacies. It is challenging to identify fakes. The safety of the pharmaceutical supply chain is becoming a serious public health concern, a process that affects all of us. In this work, we present a new approach to medication supply chain management that handles safe drug supply chain data using Hyperledger Fabric, a blockchain-based platform. By implementing drug record transactions on a blockchain, a drug supply chain and smart healthcare ecosystem may be constructed. The suggested method addresses this issue. To allow for time-limited access to patient health information and electronic prescription records, a smart contract has been introduced.","PeriodicalId":21141,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology","volume":"258 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140448193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four electronic databases were chosen: PubMed (US National Library of Medicine, USA), Scopus, EBSCO, and ProQuest. The databases were chosen to be comprehensive and to span a wide range of fields. There is no year limit. The languages of English and Bahasa Indonesia were considered, and the subject or type was entered into the database search. Two independent reviewers extracted the data and assessed the study's quality. The 661 initial data were identified from 4 electronic databases, of which 5 made up the final data. Healthy human and animal patients underwent active orthodontic treatment with fixed orthodontic equipment. Local or systemic biologic drugs (prostaglandins) are employed to accelerate orthodontic tooth movement.. The results revealed that prostaglandins can enhance the rate of orthodontic tooth movement. There are two methods to enhance orthodontic tooth movement using prostaglandin. First, using PGE2 injection with the dosage of 0.1g - 1.0g showed effectiveness. Second, using peroral with an optimum dose of 10-25g/kg/day.","PeriodicalId":21141,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology","volume":"203 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140446032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our study aims to determine incidence of occurrence of NEC in preterm neonates after red blood cell transfusion with different feeding protocols and to assess the value of withholding feeds around the pRBCs transfusion in decreasing the incidence of transfusion associated necrotizing enterocolitis (TANEC). Methods: The study was done on 90 preterms who received packed red blood cells (pRBCs) during their admission in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Theywere divided in two groups according to different feeding protocols; Group (A): 45 preterms where only one feed was withheld during pRBCs transfusion and Group (B): 45 preterms where feeds were withheld 4 hours before till 4 hours after pRBCs transfusion. Results: The incidence of transfusion related NEC (positive TANEC) in preterm neonates and other complications of prematurity such as (intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and pneumothorax in group (A) were relatively higher than those of group (B). Conclusion: The modulation of feeding protocol and necessity of keeping nothing per oral (NPO) before, during and after blood transfusion. Significant risk factors for NEC occurrence are feeding preterm before and after pRBCS transfusion, low birth weight, low gestational age, low APGAR score.","PeriodicalId":21141,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology","volume":"101 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140446571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aurothioglucose serves as a pharmaceutical intervention for the management of rheumatoid arthritis and can be potential as a potential pharmacological agent for mitigating neuronal toxicity. Objective: The current study was planned to explore the neuroprotective potential of aurothioglucose-loaded poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) nanoparticles against aluminum chloride (AlCl3) induced Alzheimer's Disease. Method: In the in vivo study, AlCl3 (100 mg/kg, 21 days) was orally administered to rats, while, Aurothioglucose (ATG) and ATG NPs (Nanoparticles) (5, 10 mg/kg and 2.5 and 5 mg/kg, s.c.) were administered sub-cutaneous for a duration of 2 weeks. Following the treatment regimen, neurobehavioral evaluations were conducted utilizing the Open Field Test (OFT), Morris Water Maze (MWM), and Object Recognition Test (ORT). Subsequently, the rats were euthanized, and hippocampal tissue samples were procured for the assessment of biochemical and neuroinflammatory markers. Results: In the in-vivo experiment, the administration of both ATG and ATGNPs elicited a noteworthy reversal of cognitive impairments, biochemical perturbations, and neuroinflammatory markers induced by AlCl3. These observations suggest that ATG NPs demonstrate superior neuroprotective capabilities compared to ATG alone. Conclusion: The observed therapeutic outcomes imply that ATG and ATG NPs conferred amelioration against AlCl3-induced neurotoxicity in rats through mechanisms involving antioxidative and anti-inflammatory effects. Hence, ATG NPs could be a potential drug for correcting Alzheimer’s disease.","PeriodicalId":21141,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology","volume":"5 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140446684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials and methods: Chromatography-mass-spectrometric analysis was performed on an Agilent Technologies device. For the model evaluation of antioxidant activity, the aerometric method for measuring the total antioxidant activity was used, implemented in the TsvetYauza-01-AA device. Tonic activity was studied in terms of the duration of swimming of laboratory animal (male mice) with a load of 7% of the animal's body weight until complete fatigue - \"The mouse forced swim test\". The discussion of the results. When studying the chemical composition of medicinal plant raw materials of peppermint leaves of menthol, linalool, carvone types, more than 50 compounds were identified. A comparative analysis showed that the content of menthol in peppermint leaves of the menthol type can exceed the content of menthol in other chemotypes by ten or more times. At the same time, the tonic effect of an aqueous extract from peppermint leaves is mostly associated with the menthol. It should be taken into account when using this type of raw material in the manufacturing. Findings. The raw material of peppermint leaves may have a different degree of pharmacological activity depending on the chemotype, which should be taken into consideration when using this type of raw material.","PeriodicalId":21141,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology","volume":"411 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140447905","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To overcome drug resistance, new drugs need to be developed that are target specific. Previously designed ten steroidal chalcone derivatives were assessed for their pharmacokinetic profile and toxicity. The present study describes the evaluation of these derivatives for their ADME profile and toxicity using Swiss ADME and OSIRIS web tools. Structures of designed steroidal chalcone derivatives and progesterone (standard) were converted into canonical SMILES format by using Swiss ADME web tool. These structures were submitted to the Swiss ADME web tool that provided physicochemical and pharmacokinetic properties of the compounds. The OSIRIS web server was mainly used for predicting toxicity properties of all derivatives. OSIRIS results on toxicity showed that all compounds were slightly toxic. Based on Swiss ADME analysis, compounds 4, 9 and 10 have an acceptable bioavailability and comply with Lipinski's rule of five. By evaluating their drug score and ADMET properties, it was concluded that compounds 4, 9 and 10 could potentially have favourable characteristics of oral drugs, and further research could be carried out to evaluate them as anticancer agents by performing in-vitro and in-vivo cytotoxic studies.","PeriodicalId":21141,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology","volume":"1029 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140445753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It becomes important to identify factors which can shift the balance towards acute leukemia. So, what is new? There are already a good number of prognostic factors standardized by WHO. What is less realized is this process of standardization is an ongoing one. In the present study we found three factors which had a poor prognosis. We did an in-depth study covering the clinical and morphological profile of 30 cases and the cytogenetics profile of 13/30 cases of MDS over a period of 5 years. In the present study we found 3 factors which were associated with poor survival and include polymorphic variant of chromosome 9, CD34 positive megakaryocytes in the bone marrow biopsy, and eosinophils with basophilic granules. There are occasional articles on high-level of CD34 expression on megakaryocytes associated with adverse outcome (223), but there is no literature on polymorphic variant of chromosome 9 and eosinophils with basophilic granules in association with MDS. We intend to ignite an interest on this and add to the literature.","PeriodicalId":21141,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology","volume":"175 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140445822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
