However, only a small fraction of that information is easily available and formatted to conduct further phylogenetic analysis. It is necessary to develop software tools to extract, integrate and publish this information. In this work, we have developed a process to a) obtain species descriptions in separated documents from a book about Chagas disease vectors (Triatomine kissing bugs) and b) extract morphological characters of Triatominae species. 131 documents from different species and their characteristics and values have been obtained to build a pedagogical tool. These obtained data will also be used to infer phylogenies of this important group of disease vector. In the future, we will expect to extent our approach to extract morphological data of any group of biological organisms. This work is an application of TICs for education.","PeriodicalId":211092,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133181478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sample consisted of 87 university students (12 men (13.8%) and 75 women (86.2%) between 19 and 55 years of age $(mathrm{M}_{age}= mathrm{26.51, SD=7.82})$, of which 67 were born in Lima (77.0%) and 17 (19.5%) of provinces. The results showed that men have more student efficacy than women and that provincial students have a higher level of dedication than those in the capital. In addition, it is concluded that the dedication predicts negatively to emotional exhaustion and indifference; but it positively predicts academic self-efficacy and student efficacy. Finally, the mediation model confirmed significantly with the Sobel Test that dedication predicts student efficacy when mediated by academic self-efficacy.","PeriodicalId":211092,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125066318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It consists of 3 stages and each stage will focus on students of certain ages. The first stage corresponds to the grades from 1st grade to 2nd grade of primary school. The bases of computational thinking will be developed through dynamics and games, in this way children will not get bored and learn by playing. The second stage is aimed at students from 3rd grade to 6th grade. It consists in introducing the basic concepts of the computation and the use of Scratch once the computational thinking was developed when they were smaller. Finally, in the third stage the programming languages will be taught. This stage is developed throughout high school and will start with the Python language to finish with C ++.","PeriodicalId":211092,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132506179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model is based on Project-Based Learning (PBL), a scenario is configured that evidences a problem or a problem situation; students work on their information management skills, complementing them with the knowledge and experience of the teacher. The teacher plays the role of tutor, advises students and guides them in the process of autonomous learning; in such a way that they achieve significant learning and gain experience in very close or identical conditions to those that occur in the scope of their professional performance. The proposal is materialized in the subject “Maintenance, configuration and evolution of software” of the Professional School of Systems Engineering of the National University of San Agustín of Arequipa.","PeriodicalId":211092,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132959917","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With this proposal, students can immerse themselves in virtual and interactive environments for the learning of concepts related to Electric Charge, Electric Field and Power Lines. In addition, you can interact with the elements of the environment and observe what happens when you change parameters or variables of it. We experimented with a group of students from the Tecnologico de Monterrey Campus Morelia in order to evaluate the simulator. From results it was observed that this tool helps the student to learn concepts that are non-tangible. In addition, given the total immersion in the virtual environment, the student focuses his attention completely on the activity, improving his learning.","PeriodicalId":211092,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115259958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This same basic problem exists within the Engineering School at the University of Pittsburgh, thus over the past years we took on the task of removing all the old equipment and replacing it with small bench top scale experiments. This paper will describe the concepts behind the design of the experiments as a result of moving from a few large experiments to a large number of small scale experiments.","PeriodicalId":211092,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121671925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The traditional didactic approach is limited and discouraging since the students are only attentive to what the teacher develops. The students do not interact with each other and less with the teacher. Using Facebook as a teaching tool for communication, participation and collaboration in the teaching-learning process breaks the traditional, passive and monolithic didactic scheme that discourages and alienates students from their classrooms and, on the contrary, generates interest and motivation. Thus, allowing participation between the teacher and students at any time without having to do it during class hours. Facebook was used as a didactic tool in the programming course at the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria, achieving a high percentage of motivation, interest, and participation in the teaching-learning process.","PeriodicalId":211092,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132945096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
