Less known is, to declare the best-fit management strategy for the grassland ecosystem. The present study was performed to search for the best-fit management system for the grassland ecosystem in northern China by evaluating the consequences of grazing and mowing on soil physiochemical properties like soil moisture, bulk density, electrical conductivity, pH, and total concentrations of C, N, and P. We found that compared to mowing, grazing significantly increased soil moisture, bulk density, and N concentration by 12%, 7%, and 14%, respectively. However, no significant effect of grazing was observed on soil C and P concentrations and C: N, C: P, and N: P ratios. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of air pollution results from the Erbil steel factory on oxidative stress markers, blood erythropoietin hormone (EPO) concentration, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. The study included 250 male samples (150 workers worked in different locations in the Erbil steel factory and 100 healthy males were used as a control group which was selected in the rural area away from the steel factory). A significantly higher concentration of the oxidative marker malondialdehyde MDA and EPO hormone was observed in the serum of workers who work near the furnace part of the factory when compared with control, manager, and scrap parts of the factory. The higher concentration of the MDA and EPO hormone was found in the groups of more than 11-15 years working when compared with the groups of less than 6-10 years working. The results found a significant positive correlation between Pb (r = 0.85<0.01), Co (r = 0.70<0.01), Hg (r = 0.74<0.01) and As (r = 0.60<0.05) with MDA. The workers in different locations parts of the factory showed significantly lower values of red blood cells (RBC), hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit, and forced vital capacity (FVC) and higher red cell distribution width (RDW), systolic blood pressure (SBP), and heart rate as compared with the control group. The decrease and increase of the above-mentioned studies’ parameters are time-dependent and differ according to the years of working.","PeriodicalId":20363,"journal":{"name":"Polish Journal of Environmental Studies","volume":"73 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.8,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139151916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"环境科学与生态学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we first measure the carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions of 282 cities in China from 2006 to 2020, and clarify the theoretical mechanisms and transmission channels of EID affecting CO 2 . Subsequently, the Time-varying difference-in-differences (DID) and the mediation effect model are used to assess the impact of EID on CO 2 and its transmission mechanism, respectively. The study shows that although EID is a voluntary environmental regulation, the policy significantly reduces CO 2 , and this reduction effect has regional and low-carbon policy intensity heterogeneity. The study also shows that green technology innovation and energy intensity mediate the carbon reduction effect of EID. This study has important reference significance for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the quality of economic development.","PeriodicalId":20363,"journal":{"name":"Polish Journal of Environmental Studies","volume":"231 3‐4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.8,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139152630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"环境科学与生态学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main factors affecting land-use efficiency were assessed using qualitative and quantitative fact-finding, correlation analysis, and Geographic Information Systems tools. Accordingly, 14 major influencing factors were identified. A correlation and regression analysis was performed to resolve the modelling task. Using the correlation analysis methodology, the impact of each factor on the required indicator was quantified. The model developed shows that the land structure and production volume mainly influence land-use efficiency in agriculture. This finding fits well with pan-European studies. There is an annual trend towards more efficient use of farmland. In general, mountainous regions may provide high indicators of agricultural production under conditions of warm climate, sufficient moisture content, soil fertility and/or moderate fertilization, control of erosion processes, and predominance of low hypsometric heights. The developed model allows for optimizing the utilization of land resources, improving soil fertility and crop yields, and finding the right decisions for preventing the development of unfavourable processes.","PeriodicalId":20363,"journal":{"name":"Polish Journal of Environmental Studies","volume":"344 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.8,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139148970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"环境科学与生态学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, knowledge of shifts in soil extracellular enzyme stoichiometry and nutrient limitation within forest plantation chronosequences remains limited. This study sampled soils from Illicium verum plantations of different ages in a tropical mountain area in southern China. Here, we determined the activities of four extracellular enzymes (β-1,4-glucosidase, β-1,4-N-acetylglucosaminidase, leucine aminopeptidase, and acid phosphate), C:N:P acquisition ratios, and soil physicochemical properties. Results showed with increasing stand age, the soil total N (STN), soil available N (SAN), soil organic carbon (SOC), and soil C:N:P ratios increased significantly, while the soil total P (STP) and soil available P (SAP) showed no significant changes. Furthermore, as stands age increased the activities of the four enzymes increased, the enzymatic N:P and C:P ratios decreased significantly, and the enzyme C:N ratio showed no significant changes. Additionally, the activities of the four enzymes and their stoichiometry were significantly positively correlated with the soil water content, SOC, STN and SAN but negatively correlated with the STP and SAP. The enzymatic C:N:P ratio was 1:1:1.4, indicating that the soil P availability limited the growth of microorganisms in I. verum plantations. Results provide important insights into the sustainable management of I. verum plantations in southern China.","PeriodicalId":20363,"journal":{"name":"Polish Journal of Environmental Studies","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.8,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139150722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"环境科学与生态学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study analyses the mechanisms at play between ecological preferences, place attachment and place identity in urban green spaces in the Yangtze River Delta based on SEM. AHP and entropy-weighted and TOPSIS were used to analyse the influence relationships and spatial differentiation structure of the health benefits of green spaces in the study area. The study shows that, firstly, environmental preferences have a significant positive impact on place attachment, place identity and health benefit evaluation. Place attachment mediates the positive influence of environmental preferences on health outcomes. Second, the focus should be on improving the activity spaces and services in urban green spaces. Attention should also be paid to increasing the density of interactive spaces and the richness of interactive space types. Third, the health indices in the Yangtze River Delta region are roughly proportional to the urbanization rate and the degree of urban development. Emphasis should be placed on the development of urban green spaces in Anhui, strengthening exchanges between cities in the Yangtze River Delta, and standardizing and improving the construction of green belts.","PeriodicalId":20363,"journal":{"name":"Polish Journal of Environmental Studies","volume":"8 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.8,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139150676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"环境科学与生态学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results show that the output value of households that have transferred farmland is increased by about 27% more than those that have not. In addition, the transfer of farmland has a more significant impact on the agricultural production efficiency of young and middle –aged families. The transfer of farmland from grain production areas has an increased tendency to household output value. The mechanism analysis shows that the transfer of farmland affects agricultural production efficiency in the following two ways. On the one hand, the transfer of farmland can help realize the effective replacement of labor by machinery, increase the mechanization degree of agricultural production, and realize the scale effect of farmland. On the other hand, based on the maximization of their own interests, farmers prefer to plant cash crops and improve agricultural production efficiency through the selection effect. By comparing the above two effects, we found that the planting selection behavior of compacting grain and expanding economic growth is more prominent. Therefore, this article proposes to promote the development of the farmland transfer market and make use of scale advantage. Meanwhile, the self-selection behavior of transferred farmers in planting crops should be valued and young people with advanced concepts to engage in agricultural production activities should be introduced, which inject “fresh blood” into agricultural modernization. However, we should also keep the red line of farmland and alert the phenomenon of “non-agricultural” and “non-grain” in the transfer of farmland.","PeriodicalId":20363,"journal":{"name":"Polish Journal of Environmental Studies","volume":"283 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.8,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139152813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"环境科学与生态学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the integrated framework of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Normative Activation Model (NAM), taking farmers in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province as the research sample, the formation mechanism of INT-CE is empirically analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). INT-CE was influenced by both self-interested and altruistic motives, with self-interested motives having a greater impact. The results show that: (1) Subjective attitudes and perceived behavior control have significant positive effects on low-income farmers' transformation intention, the influence coefficients are 0.170 and 0.331, respectively. (2) Perceived behavior control has a significant positive impact on the transition intention of middle - income farmers, the coefficient is 0.155. (3) Subjective norms have significant positive impacts on the energy transition intention of high-income farmers, the coefficient is 0.261. Attitude has the greatest influence on INT-CE. The effect of past habits on INT-CE was not significant, but was controlled by attitudes and perceptual behaviors. Outcome awareness and responsibility attribution indirectly enhance INT-CE through personal norms. The government should consider farmers' self-interest and altruistic motives when motivating INT-CE. On the one hand, positive concepts of energy conservation should be fostered and farmers' knowledge of energy conservation should be enhanced. On the other hand, the education of farmers should be strengthened to make them realize the ecological damage caused by non-clean energy. At the same time, the influence of relevant groups on INT-CE should be further emphasized to play the role of demonstration and leadership,","PeriodicalId":20363,"journal":{"name":"Polish Journal of Environmental Studies","volume":"352 11‐12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.8,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139149084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"环境科学与生态学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
