As a result, demanding for DSP's calculational capabilities is growing and general purpose DSPs is incompetent for the works. In addition, general purpose DSPs' power and cost are not satisfying while using in software radio. Based on researching various kinds of arithmetic together, this article presents a novel dynamically reconfigurable instruction set for software radio encoding and coding. The application-specific system supplies high computational performance. The instruction set economizes area and reduces power consumption by dynamic reconfiguration. The system is aimed at satisfying requirements of software radio.","PeriodicalId":203066,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Multimedia and Ubiquitous Engineering (mue 2008)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125718254","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, we define three states based on the current load of a multimedia server, and then analyze the load balancing from the narrow sense and the broad sense so as to introduce the migration arithmetic of \"state balancing\" which can provide a hierarchic load balancing and the fault tolerance. The experimentation shows that the accessing failure rates and the load variance of this algorithm are the same as the results of the REM, but the ability of fault recovery is much better than REM when the sys is under the normal state, which indicates that this arithmetic can not only provide load balancing within a multimedia server and \"state balancing\" among the multimedia servers, but also enhance the fault tolerance of the multimedia service system.","PeriodicalId":203066,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Multimedia and Ubiquitous Engineering (mue 2008)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125861976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most existing Inter-working solutions are made at the terminal side. It requires mobile phone or PC users to install multiple client-side applications, such as, Google talk client, Skype client, and MSN client, etc. In order to avoid too many client applications running on mobile terminals, a network solution is desired. An IMS based Inter-working solution for multimedia services is proposed. It enables an IMS subscriber make use of a single SIP user agent to communicate with the other users who might have communication means other than IMS based devices. The solution consists of two parts: one is the conference like service; the other is the Inter-working gateway service. The detailed technical description of the proposed solution is described hereafter. The corresponding use cases are present. The solution can also be applied to \"group communication\", e.g. ad-hoc group or predefined group multimedia service (chat, instant messaging, voice/video conference, etc.). The benefits of the proposed solution for end users and operators are discussed.","PeriodicalId":203066,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Multimedia and Ubiquitous Engineering (mue 2008)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123815276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is crucial to codify methodologies to fit mobile-specific demands, e.g. regularity. Subscription-based mobile services require the analysis of regularity to capture and retain easy-come, easy-go users. The author proposes a method called the \"time slot count in window\" method (TCW-method) to efficiently capture regular users, while relaxing the explicit splits among time slots with visits. The author shows the case study result from 2001-2002 commercial service logs. A case study conducted in 2001-2002 with commercial news service subscribers shows that the relaxation in the proposed method loses 2-3 % in the recall rate of regularity, but still obtained 88-91 % recall rate. Considering the trade-off with the on-the-fly nature of coping with limited storage capacity, the author considers this method to be very promising for the mobile Internet.","PeriodicalId":203066,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Multimedia and Ubiquitous Engineering (mue 2008)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130417257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The future Wireless Internet is expected to consist of different types of wireless network with different coverage ranges. The integration of Wireless Metropolitan Area Network (WMAN) and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) technologies seems to be a feasible option for better and cheaper wireless coverage extension. This hybrid network can take advantage of the benefits of both technologies to provide ubiquitous services with high quality of service (QoS). In order to improve the bandwidth utilization and reduce the interference in heterogeneous WMAN/WIAN networks, this work applies genetic algorithm-based bandwidth allocation techniques along with space division multiple access (SDMA) to manage the precious bandwidth resource in the heterogeneous wireless networks. The simulation results show that our scheme is effective in terms of performance metrics, including dropping probability of handoff calls, new call blocking probability, and bandwidth utilization.","PeriodicalId":203066,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Multimedia and Ubiquitous Engineering (mue 2008)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124327031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For adapting the changeability in a UHAC system, we propose a technique of assigning independent time-token which is distributed by a trusted agency server to reply an authorized user for once secure access request. The key feature of the technique is to adapt some secure parameters in distributed time-token for responding to each legal access request.
