Its dynamic performance and service reliability have a direct effect on the performance of the locomotive. Gear failures, such as tooth crack and the induced tooth breakage, are likely to deteriorate the dynamic performance of the locomotive or make the train out of control, or even cause disastrous derailment. Fortunately, these failures will also vary the vibration responses of the locomotive, which enables the possibility of vibration-based fault detection for locomotives. In this study, vibration features of a locomotive when a tooth root crack fault is in presence in one of its gear transmissions. Here, the results for a healthy locomotive and a gear tooth cracked locomotive are compared to reveal the fault vibration features. Also, effect of the rail geometric irregularity excitation is also considered. It is proven that the rail geometric irregularity could slur frequency structure which brings a challenge to the fault feature extraction. Application of the time synchronous averaging (TSA) technique is proven to be effective for solving this problem.","PeriodicalId":202597,"journal":{"name":"2016 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-Chengdu)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122040950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, SEEs mechanism and process was summarized. Then Monte Carlo method was used to calculate the neutron energy spectrum distribution at different height of the near space (20 ∼ 100km). Secondly, NMOS transistors was confirmed the sensitive structure cell through mechanism analysis of SEEs. And TCAD software is used to set up the three-dimensional model of NMOS. The effectiveness of the proposed simulation design has been evaluated and compared by performing three different LET on six-transistor cell. Results have been validated against radiation-beam testing using atmospheric neutron and show that the effect of LET is mainly concentrated on the peak of the current pulse, not the maintenance time.","PeriodicalId":202597,"journal":{"name":"2016 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-Chengdu)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124027570","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, they often run under non stationary conditions, which accelerate the mechanical deterioration and meanwhile result in time-varying characteristics which can barely be identified through time or frequency domain analysis. Time-frequency analysis is often utilized to provide intuitive presentation of time and frequency information concurrently, yet limited time-frequency resolution and cross-term/inner interferences hinder the accurate fault identification by conventional linear or bilinear methods. In this paper the reassigned wavelet scalogram, which has merits of fine time-frequency resolution and cross-term free nature, is applied to reveal potential gear fault under non stationary conditions. Its advantage over traditional time-frequency representations is demonstrated using a numerical simulated gearbox vibration signal, and results of lab experimental evaluation indicate that real-world gear fault is successfully diagnosed.","PeriodicalId":202597,"journal":{"name":"2016 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-Chengdu)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127228464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposed a novel media access control (MAC) protocol for massive wireless sensor networks which are served by the distributed antenna system (DAS). First, the sensor nodes around each remote antenna unit (RAU) of DAS are grouped together and assigned IDs to form a virtual token ring according to the one-hop neighborhood relationship between sensor nodes. An ID allocation algorithm is designed to reduce the size of a token ring, which results in the throughput improvement. And then, each sensor node transmits one-by-one according to the virtual token ring to eliminate potential collision. The performance of proposed MAC protocol is verified through the OPNET simulation. The simulation results reveal that the proposed MAC protocol achieves higher throughput than traditional distributed coordination function (DCF) and point coordination function (PCF) under heavy traffic.","PeriodicalId":202597,"journal":{"name":"2016 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-Chengdu)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127503428","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to ensure the safety of aircraft, it is critical to predict the remaining useful life (RUL) of EMA. And the RUL prediction can be implemented by utilizing Gaussian Process Regression (GPR). However, the GPR algorithm is extremely complex. Hence, a weighted bagging Gaussian Process Regression (WB-GPR) algorithm is presented in this article. To be specific, the significance of RUL prediction of EMA is analyzed, and the variable which can represent the degradation progress of EMA failure is selected. Then the framework to predict the RUL of EMA is realized, with the proposed WB-GPR. Finally the performance of RUL prediction based on WB-GPR is validated by utilizing the sensor data sets from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Ames Research Center. Furthermore, the comparison of RUL prediction with GPR and bagging GPR has been achieved. Experimental results demonstrate that the WB-GPR is effective in the RUL prediction with low error rate and standard deviation.","PeriodicalId":202597,"journal":{"name":"2016 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-Chengdu)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129976574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The optimal design for ADT is to propose the test plan based on the performance degradation process with a reasonable optimal criteria and the constraints of test resources. Both the traditional ADT optimal design and Bayesian ADT optimal design are similar that the historical data is needed to determine the initial values or the prior distributions of the model parameters. However, it may be inaccurate to estimate the parameter values or the prior distributions only according to the historical information, which will result in large deviations between the parameter values or the prior distributions and the actual ones. Therefore, the optimal plan could not meet the statistical accuracy. In this paper, we propose a Bayesian ADT dynamic optimal design method with sequential stress. The degradation information under the most recent stress level will be treated as the prior of the next stress level. Under the assumption of Wiener process, an optimal model with the objective of quadratic loss function is built with the decision variables, e.g. stress levels and inspection times. Finally, the simulation study is introduced to illustrate the proposed method, and the results show that Bayesian ADT optimal design with sequential stress can adjust the test plan dynamically to improve the test efficiency.","PeriodicalId":202597,"journal":{"name":"2016 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-Chengdu)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126968893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

System function failure model is established firstly, and then the minimum cut sets are obtained through the fault simulation. System task reliability can be calculated based on the minimum cut sets. With the proposed method, the actual operation of the system can be described more realistic, and the system reliability can be analyzed more accurate with less workload because the existing system functional model is used to model and analyze system reliability. This research designs a classifier based on deep belief networks to classify the data which is collected from bearings. We use stacked Restricted Boltzmann Machines (RBM) to pre-train the networks and avoid the local minimal. The first three layers of the networks are non-linear and the last two layers are linear. The reason is that non-linear methods are capable of fitting the complex relationship of the data. When it comes to the training process, we pay much attention to the training times. Training too many times could lead to over-fitting while less training would cause under-fitting. In the proposed model, we choose the performance of all data as the criterion of training times. Upon getting the best performance, we stop the training and record the parameters. After training, we use back propagation (BP) algorithm for fine-tuning the weights of the networks. In the experiments, five types of bearing data including four fault data and one normal data are used and they can be classified by the proposed model.","PeriodicalId":202597,"journal":{"name":"2016 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-Chengdu)","volume":"217 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128822092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is easy to be damaged which can cause mechanical fault. Thus, it is significance to study fault diagnosis technology on rolling bearing. This paper presents a Deep Boltzmann Machines (DBM) model to identify the fault condition of rolling bearing. A data set with seven fault patterns is collected to evaluate the performance of DBM for rolling bearing fault diagnosis, which is based on the health condition of a rotating mechanical system. The features of time domain, frequency domain and time-frequency domain are extracted as input parameters for the DBM model. The results showed that the accuracy presented by the DBM model is highly reliable and applicable in fault diagnosis of rolling bearing.","PeriodicalId":202597,"journal":{"name":"2016 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-Chengdu)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128872471","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among data-driven approaches, one can distinguish between (i) degradation-based approaches that predict the future evolution of the equipment degradation and (ii) direct Remaining Useful Life (RUL) prediction approaches which directly predict the equipment RUL. In this work, we compare two direct RUL prediction approaches one based on Back Propagation-Artificial Neural Networks (BP-ANN) and the other one on Extreme Learning Machines (ELM). The two approaches are compared on data from turbofan engines. We consider different prognostic metrics such as RMSE, Accuracy Index, Steadiness Index, a-I metric and the time necessary to train and execute the model. The obtained results show that the ELM-based model is performing only slightly worse than the BP-ANN-based model in terms of accuracy and stability, but it requires a considerably shorter training time.","PeriodicalId":202597,"journal":{"name":"2016 Prognostics and System Health Management Conference (PHM-Chengdu)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114153421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
