Members of the party joined the establishment of schools, libraries, reading halls, and organized courses: Polonistics, teaching, courses with an elementary and secondary school curricula, theatre and vocal groups, party schools, and universities. Founded by the members of the Polish Socialist Party, the Society of the Labour University with its educational activities played an important role in combating the illiteracy of the population and in formation of the national consciousness of Poles. It was shown that the Polish Socialist Party paid due attention to the protection of the cultural, linguistic and educational rights of the national minorities. These problems repeatedly appeared on the agenda of the party congresses, however they were violated by the parliamentarians from the Polish Socialist Party in the Sejm. There were analysed the party's projects, designed to provide territorial autonomy to the non-Polish population which was compactly inhabiting the south-eastern province of Poland. While defending the rights of the national minorities, the members of the Polish Socialist Party spoke in favour of the development of schooling with education in their native languages, the opening of a separate Ukrainian university in L’viv. They protested against the persecution of students and teachers of the Secret Ukrainian University in L’viv, introduction of utraquism in the school, numerus clausus, and the «ghetto benches» in the higher education institutions for the Jewish students.\u0000\u0000Keywords: Polish Socialist Party, Poland, educational activity, educational institutions, national minorities

Despite his public and political activism as a participant in Canadian Ukrainians' cultural and educational events, he devoted a lot of effort and time to educational work in Winnipeg and other settlements in Canada. His cooperation as a teacher and author of scientific-methodological works on various aspects of physical education and sports with the «Ridna Shkola» and the Ukrainian Institute «Prosvita» is considered. Describing the activities within the Organization of Ukrainian Teachers of Canada, the author highlights I. Boberskyi's teaching of various subjects at teacher training courses and performances at various events, parties, and celebrations by this authoritative organization. I. Bobersky provided counseling to many people and organizations living and operating in Canada. Within the St. Raphael Society for the Guardianship of Ukrainian Immigrants in Canada and the Ukrainian society «Sokil-Batko» in Lviv carried out publishing and editorial work. The author notes, while in the diaspora, I. Boberskyi did not sever ties with the «Sokil-Batko» society, helped it in publishing, consulted, reviewed, gave, and raised funds for various needs. In various publications, he explained the tasks of the Ukrainian «sokil» movement in Halychyna and Europe, the importance of physical education and sports for Ukrainians.\u0000\u0000Keywords: Ivan Boberskyi, Canada, educational-training activities, Organization of Ukrainian Teachers of Canada, «Ridna Shkola», «Prosvita», St. Raphael Society for the Guardianship of Ukrainian Immigrants in Canada, «Sokil-Batko», Ivan Boberskyi Canadian Library.

The Western Ukrainian Society of the League of Nations (ZUTLN), pursuing the idea of reviving Ukrainian statehood, tried to influence the solution of the "Ukrainian issue" in the format of the Union of Societies of the League of Nations (STLN). The author considers the program principles of activity, the status of ZUTLN in STLN, the impact of international factors on the evolution of its activities, shows the relationship of ZUTLN with the ZUNR (Western Ukrainian People's Republic) government-in-exile, Ukrainian parties, organizations, institutions. The attitude of ZUTLN to the policy of the Polish authorities on the "Ukrainian issue" is also illustrated. The formation of the society is associated with the Ukrainian political emigration, and its ideological platform was based on the idea of non-acceptance of the Versailles system of treaties (on the dividing of Ukrainian lands between the USSR, Poland, Romania, Czechoslovakia), the Treaty of Riga 1921 between Poland, the Russian SFSR, and the USSR, as well as the decision of the Council of Ambassadors of the Entente States of March 15, 1923. To implement the statutory tasks, ZUTLN kept close contacts and cooperated with the ZUNR government-in-exile, political parties of Western Ukraine, as well as with the UPR (Ukrainian Parliamentary Representation) and other public and political organizations.\u0000Keywords: ZUTLN, STLN, Poland, the Western Ukrainian People's Republic, statut, Galicia, League of Nations.

The aim is to present and properly evaluate the events of the first cholera epidemic in Halychyna, which played an important role in the history of Ukraine and the whole of Europe, but which has so far received little attention.\u0000\u0000The paper examines the events of the first cholera epidemic, the measures taken against it, the structure of the defense, and the social consequences of the epidemic. The research was based on a number of unpublished archival sources and literature on the topic. The Kingdom of Hungary, which also belonged to the Habsburg Empire, was the first country to join the fight against the epidemic as an area adjacent to Halychyna, so the archival data of Transcarpathia and Hungary contain an abundance of the relevant source material. The history of the epidemic was studied in the earliest times by such renowned researchers, as August Hirsch, Heinrich Haeser, Nottidge Charles Macnamara, and Georg Sticker. But there are also excellent contemporary works on the subject, such as the research by Richard S. Ross III or Irene Poczka, which provide important resources for this research.\u0000\u0000The cholera epidemic first reached this part of Europe in the late 1830s. With the spread of the disease, almost everyone blamed the Russian troops that came to quell the Polish uprising. The Viennese court acted as a supporter of the Russian Tsar in the system of the Holy Alliance, which caused a significant wave of protest among the Hungarian nobility, who sympathized with the Poles. Although the Habsburg Empire’s defense against the epidemic was considered the strictest in all of Europe, the disease still made its way into the territory of the empire from Russia and took its first victims in Halychyna. After the plague, it was the largest epidemic in all of Europe. Its tragic consequences are well illustrated by the fact that nearly a quarter of a million people became ill in Halychyna and almost half of them (almost a hundred thousand) died of the disease.

The resolutions of the Galician Assembly with a clear subtext are considered. The idea of convening caused sharp criticism among the KPU, which accused the leadership of the Lviv Regional Council in general and V. He was a leading person of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists' Youth department in Stanislaviv region (now - Ivano-Frankivsk region), a political educator at the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UIA), one of the leaders of the OUN's armed underground in Zakerzonnia, the commander of a courier group that provided communication on the «Carpathians-Zakerzonnia–western zones of German occupation» line, and the Zolochiv district leader. By the Ukrainian Supreme Liberation Council's decision and the Main Team of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, I. Chervak was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit because of selfless work and struggle for the Ukrainian state. Particular attention is paid to forming the future leader's personality, family upbringing, and education. I. Chervak's administrative workin the OUN, UIA divisions, the OUN's armed underground, his career growth from an ordinary member to the head of one of the most important structural units of the Ukrainian liberation movement of 1940-1950 in Western Ukraine was analyzed.\u0000\u0000The author determined pseudonyms and cryptonyms used by I. Chervak, being in an illegal position and acting in the UIA ranks and the OUN underground, under which he was noted by the USLC, which he signed memoirs and journalistic articles. Activities of the Soviet repressive and punitive system to identify I. Chervak and attempt to liquidate him with agents and military-chekist operations were recreated. The main approaches to explaining the term «Zakerzonnia» and related with it the notion of Curzon Line in encyclopedic articles are defined. In a brief historiographical review emergence and application of the term Curzon Line to the formation of the Polish-Russian and Polish-Soviet border are observed. The settlement's names through which the demarcation line went, its use's political contexts are given. Both the informational and analytical articles in the press of Ukrainian emigration in Europe and proclamation of the leadership of OUN of «Zakerzon Territory» of the late 1940s are considered. These materials highlight the problem of the Polish-Ukrainian border, the forced displacement of Ukrainians. It is noticed, that generally the first description of «Ukrainians living beyond the Curzon Line» was used in these publications. It is confirmed that this interpretation was later transformed into the term «Zakerzonnia» in periodicals of foreign units of OUN of the late 1940s-early 1950s, that is, the territory of the «Western Ukrainian lands», from which the Ukrainians were deported. It is shown that in the Ukrainian centers of the Lemko community of Canada and the USA in the early 1960s, in particular on the pages of periodicals of the Organization of Defense of the Lemkivschyna, the term «Zakerzonnia» is used less frequently than names of historical and ethnographic regions: Lemkivshchyna (Lemko region), Kholmshchyna (Kholm region), Pidliashia, Nadsiannia (Posiannia, Sian region). It is claimed that the active use of the term «Zakerzonnia» occurred in the 1990-2000s due to the activities of social-cultural organizations of deported Ukrainians from Poland.\u0000\u0000Keywords: Curzon Line, «Zakerzonnia», concept, Ukrainian-Polish borderland
