However, the format chosen for this process doesn't always reach all teachers of an educational institution. Moreover there are situations where teachers want to deepen some themes but don't find a space to develop this activity. Based on this scenario we present the communities of practice (CoP) as an important feature of interaction between teachers, developing communication, exchange of experiences, collaborative implementation of activities and professional development. In order to illustrate, we present a case study of a Community of Practice in Innovation and Education at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre Campus. The conclusions of this experiment point to the importance of a position change of the teacher in relation to his continued education.","PeriodicalId":191188,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Computers in Education","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116490277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, there are several technologies that provide support for distance learning. Before this scenario, there are millions of users with an huge amount of educational data, which evaluation burdens teachers and consume their time, leaving the students waiting for the evaluation of their performance. With the use of automatic correction technics performed by computers, there is a bigger fluidity of activities and a relevant decrease of work for the teachers, leaving them free to evaluate others activities. This paper presents a lexical-Syntactic Analyzer for automatic evaluation of written Activities in Portuguese using Genetic Algorithms and Natural Language Processing – NLP. The proposed system was evaluated by experiment, about 20 written activities and it found and evaluated the mistakes previously identified by human correctors. The results demonstrated a high rate of appropriate suggestions for the errors detected.","PeriodicalId":191188,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Computers in Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125865407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite the advances in digital technologies aimed at treating learning errors, few concrete results have been accomplished. More recently, official Brazilian institutions that evaluate school performance concluded that maths learning is insufficient in high school level. Thus, the development of innovating methods and software tools for pedagogic support that help both teaches and students in revisiting errors is a relevant research perspective. The paper presents a new method and a web-based, authoring-learning tool (FARMA) that focuses on the ideas of learner-error context backtracking as well as of tech-educational mobility. The metaphor behind learner-error context backtracking consists of the cognitive approach that guided the design and implementation of FARMA. With it, teachers and students can communicate in and out of the classroom for analyzing and understanding the nature of an error. Experimental results show that there are statistically relevant educational benefits in applying the proposed method in authoring problems statements as well as the solution of such problems through FARMA","PeriodicalId":191188,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Computers in Education","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114306595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is due to the physical characteristics of each instrument and their particular way of generating sound. With new computer technologies, such as ubiquitous computing, other ways of generating sound allow for new approaches in musical creation and education. This article describes an investigation of the use of ubiquitous computing in the context of an elementary school classroom with the intent of promoting the learning and experiencing of musical concepts. In an exploratory case study, done in 2 municipal public schools in Rio de Janeiro with 2 elementary school 7th grade classes, the school environment was transformed into a sound laboratory, whose sounds were activated using body movements that the students were already familiar with, such as clapping hands. Thus, the classroom is presented as a collective musical instrument, lessening the technical barriers that are necessary to musical execution.","PeriodicalId":191188,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Computers in Education","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124735270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several studies have been conducted exploring the specifics of Augmented Reality and gamification technology. However, most are focused on the treatment of people with motor disabilities. Thus, this article proposes the AR-G Educational Activities, an Augmented Reality with gamification application to assist the learning process of students with intellectual disabilities. The results of quantitative and qualitative tests show that the application contributed to the improvement of skills that, the traditional teaching methods used so far by students that had not been seized by them in a conventional way. It is an easy to learn tool and provides satisfaction from potential users during use. As for learning material, it provides individual knowledge construction facility or collective and presents evidence of motivation of the students while conducting their activities, as well as more active behavior of the same.","PeriodicalId":191188,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Computers in Education","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129473035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Particularly, the identification of contents related with each other, in large repositories, has been the focus of considerable efforts by researchers in the field of computing in pursuit of the automation of this process. However, previous approaches have extended or altered the metadata defined by SCORM standard. In this paper, we present experimental results on our proposed methodology which employs ontologies, automatic annotation of metadata, information retrieval and text mining to recommend and aggregate related content, using the relation metadata category as defined by SCORM, without extending these metadata, or changing SCORM, or even developing specific implementations on a Learning Management System. We developed a computer system prototype which applies the proposed methodology on a sample of learning objects generating results to evaluate its efficacy. The results were analyzed and evaluated with the support of educators, who work on the development of content for e-Learning, demonstrating that the proposed method is feasible and effective to produce the expected results.","PeriodicalId":191188,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Computers in Education","volume":"152 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114517669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even existing a wide literature about project management – manly regarding concepts and methods, it is not found many information related to the teaching of the usage of these tools. Aiming to understand how this competency is been taught, this research aims to characterize the teaching of the usage of these tools in superior computer courses in Brazilian educational institutions. Hence, it was carried out a survey to identify: (a) Which project management tools are been taught; (b) how the instructional units are been defined; and (c) how they are evaluated. We have invited 590 teachers of Project Management and Software Engineering disciplines, and obtained 92 responses. The collected data are synthetized, presenting the panorama of Brazilian educational institutions. The results may be useful for teachers in their disciplines and also for researches, pointing out the improvement opportunities for teaching this content more efficiently.","PeriodicalId":191188,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Computers in Education","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130340563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
