During thes oscillations, transformer windings are subject to voltage stresses. For the analysis of such transient phenomena, lumped networks consisting of R, L, C parameters calculated from the geometric dimensions of transformer windings have been used. In this paper, a new method is described for modelling of transformer windings by their terminal impedance characteristics. It is shown that, by the use of the given models the transient oscillations occuring on the transformer windings can be examined through the state equations. Examples are given for a reduced scale model transformer and an industrial supply system.","PeriodicalId":188957,"journal":{"name":"1985 EIC 17th Electrical/Electronics Insulation Conference","volume":"130 40","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1985-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113939951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the last fifty years, the technology for electric motor repair in the united States has remained virtually unchanged. Nearly all of the electric motor repair companies have been and still are using the same machines and methods that were used when motors first came into existence. These methods have proven to be outdated, wasteful, time consuming and, in most instances, damaging to the electric motor laminations. In the last sixteen years, new technology has given birth to a whole new method of repairing electric motors.","PeriodicalId":188957,"journal":{"name":"1985 EIC 17th Electrical/Electronics Insulation Conference","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1985-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130469193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The insulated magnet wire has good flexibility and meets the requirements of high speed winding equipment. The bondable magnet wire is also being examined for electrical brake and hermetic applications. The new bondcoat is superior to previous systems with respect to bonding and resoftening temperatures, chemical resistance and mechanical properties. The laboratory and field results obtained verify the unique properties of the coated wire and manufactured units. A movie has been made depicting the use of the new bondable magnet wire in a factory producing fans.","PeriodicalId":188957,"journal":{"name":"1985 EIC 17th Electrical/Electronics Insulation Conference","volume":"5 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1985-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133268893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The magnetic and other physical properties of appropriate subgrades are listed for applications. Hard ferrite and samarium-cobalt magnets are compared to the newest and, in some ways, the best material in production today—the neodymium/iron/boron. The magnetic and physical properties, availability and relative costs of appropriate subgrades are presented. High coercivity SM2TM17 performs better at elevated temperature than SmCo5 or Nd-Fe-B—performance is generally improved by designing with higher operating slope in the magnet application.","PeriodicalId":188957,"journal":{"name":"1985 EIC 17th Electrical/Electronics Insulation Conference","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1985-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114730303","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that such transients produce severe interturn insulation stresses in machine windings. Factors which need consideration when drafting the necessary test standards for ensuring that interturn insulation will withstand such severe stresses are discussed. Techniques necessary for the correct implementation of such standards are explained. Results of interturn insulation tests on the coils of a large induction motor are presented and it is shown that steep-fronted transients voltage tests may be readily carried out if due care is taken in the test procedure.","PeriodicalId":188957,"journal":{"name":"1985 EIC 17th Electrical/Electronics Insulation Conference","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1985-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132415022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
