After years of contemplating Charlotte Bronte's Creole madwoman Bertha Mason, Jean Rhys set out to give voice to what is mute in Bronte’s Jane Eyre. Rhys lets Antoinette narrate her tale, revealing the \"other side\" of Bronte's story: what occurred in the years before and after Mr. Rochester's first marriage in Jamaica. As a twentieth-century West Indian writer, Rhys was able to expose implicit assumptions and ideals in Bronte's writing, such as imperialist England's attitude toward her colonies. The natural environment is a mirror of interior states of being and emotion, a remark on the novel's characterization and action. Even though the two books seem to be identical, they are not. Rhys flips Bronte's Victorian Romantic symbols, Wide Sargasso Sea appears more contemporary and realistic. This paper aims to highlight the victimized characters in both novels and gives a real comparison of the most victimized ones. Both works, respectively, show women fighting patriarchy and injustice at any historical time. From a feminist standpoint, this study compares, Bertha Mason, in the two narratives. Even though Wide Sargasso Sea is a forerunner to Jane Eyre, Rhys expressed a more progressive and revolutionary feminist viewpoint. Bertha Mason is a more victimized female than Jane of the patriarchal system and colonization. These feminist works have left an indelible effect on literature. Most literary commentators have concentrated on Jane, the protagonist of Charlotte Bronte's narrative, on the other hand, there is Bertha Mason, the insane lady on the upper floor imprisoned, as just Jane's evil twin. Bertha has received much less attention than Jane, not as an evil side of Jane, but as a stand-alone figure. This study compares Bertha Mason's representation in Jane Eyre and Wide Sargasso Sea. Bertha, who acts as an impediment to Jane's pleasure in Jane Eyre, is recognized as a victim of society.","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116103326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reading level was measured using the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) tool where word recognition and comprehension are the variables used. On word recognition, mispronunciation, repetition, substitution, omission, insertion, reversal and transposition are considered miscues while the comprehension level was determined by the scores in the comprehension questions. Reading level is determined by their level in word recognition and comprehension taken from the Phil-IRI formula. The researcher used experimental group of respondents in teaching reading using the DRTA. The respondents are the grade 7 learners of Mindanao State University-Maguindanao who experienced modular learning for the last two school years in elementary, 2020 – 2022. The study was conducted in September to October 2022. The instruments are the reading selection consisting of 134 words and the 10 comprehension questions. Results revealed that there is a significant difference on respondents’ reading level in terms of word recognition with the t-value -8.388 and comprehension with t-value -14.357 after the use of Directed Reading-Thinking Activity (DRTA). It is therefore concluded that DRTA has a positive effect in improving the reading skills of the grade VII.","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"367 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115965822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal of this sentiment analysis was to describe students' opinions about teachers' teaching performance in online classes. It sought to ascertain the most frequently occurring words in relation to their sentiments, as well as the emerging clusters derived from their sentiments. This study used a descriptive qualitative method employing sentiment analysis of Orange text mining software. Sentiment analysis extracts information from positive and negative words in text, from the context of those words, and from the linguistic structure of the text. The 237 college students were the participants of this study. The findings show that the emerging clusters derived from the sentiments of the students were the teachers facilitate learning and motivate students to learn. Teachers act as facilitator and motivator of students to learn in online classes. The teaching performance of the teachers can be manifested in how they facilitate the teaching-learning process and how they give feedbacks and motivations to students. Consequently, the teaching performance of the teachers in online classes is one of the indicators of the students’ sentiments. This implied that, once the teacher performed very well in the class, students become satisfied and perform better in the class.","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122667728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Throughout its long history, this movement wanted to overthrow the patriarchal system and eliminate the rule of gender discrimination. Feminism officially began its activity at the end of the 18th century and has gone through a period full of ups and downs since then. The three important waves of this movement are considered to be one of its most important activities, whose basic goals are \"preserving the right to vote for women, and emphasizing protest against gender, social and economic differences and inequalities.\" After the feminism movement, feminist criticism emerged followed the reflection of women's voices and their experiences in literature and started its activities from the second half of the 20th century. The works of famous writers such as “Virginia Woolf” and “Simon de Boir” are eminent examples of this movement. In this article, we have reviewed the methods that can be used to study literary works from the perspective of feminist criticism, as well as the things that a literary critic can do to write a good and interesting critique of a work based on the theory of feminism. The result showcased that Critics who take a feminist approach in criticizing literary texts do not deny the existence of differences between male and female characters in the works. It may be said that the view that women are different from men basically corresponds to patriarchal ideology, but it must be said that the third wave feminists do not deny the existence of a difference between men and women, and in their opinion, the difference between women and men can even be seen in the readiness or potential ability of women to establish interpersonal communication and recognize it as a symbol of compassion, empathy and kindness. In addition, we have also stated that it can be a good guide in the field of writing feminist criticism on literary and artistic works.","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124715185","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ones who criticize are usually mullahs and slightly educated ones. They assume that Sufis’ acts and views do not have any place in Islamic Sharia. The acts and views which are criticized by them are the raqs (dance) and sama (singing), going to shrines and considering it a way of being close to Allah and of accepting prayer, respecting their Pirs and Murshids to the rank of worship, giving a special dhikr to his murids and specifying a special number to it by the Pir, and etc. This article is written in the light of holy Islamic Sharia aiming to answer such criticisms and objections, so they also reach the true and original reality based on it. The contents and conclusion of this article prove that various criticisms and objections, which they have against Sufism, have no base and origin of Islamic Sharia. In fact, the source of the mentioned criticisms and objections comes from personal complexes and beliefs. Therefore, this article tries to analyze and clarify this issue in the light of first hand references of Islamic Sharia, so they take the message that the evidence that they try to use as proof, the Sufi and theosophist also use it as proof; however, the only difference is that they and the Sufis draw different conclusions from it. Researching this issue is important because people are going away from the spirituality and coming closer to materiality at this time and they should not do this because love with materiality causes the destruction of life in the world and the hereafter. This is a library research and its method is analytical and descriptive.","PeriodicalId":185155,"journal":{"name":"Randwick International of Education and Linguistics Science Journal","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133463467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
