This paper compared the catalytic activity of CSA treated non-, KOH-, H3PO4-, and ZnCl2-activation\u0000 in esterification of ethylene glycol (EG) and acetic acid (HAc) to synthesize ethylene glycol monoacetate (EGMA). The catalysts were characterized using N2 isothermal adsorption–desorption, acid-base titration, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, scanning electron\u0000 microscopy (SEM), Raman spectrometer, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and X-ray diffractometer analysis (XRD). The results showed that activation treatment clearly enhanced the CSA’s specific surface area and significantly influenced the distribution of surface functional groups.\u0000 Notably, the CSA activated with H3PO4 had a markedly higher density of –SO3H groups than the non- activated, KOH- activated, and ZnCl2-activated CSA. The high density of –SO3H on the catalyst surface is advantageous for the\u0000 synthesis of EGMA from EG and HAc, making the H3PO4-activated CSA the best performer. The reaction conditions were optimized on H3PO4-activated CSA, resulting in a 74.1% conversion of EG and an 81.8% selectivity of EGMA at 100 °C for 30 min,\u0000 and the EG/HAc molar ratio of 1:2. H3PO4-activated CSA was not obviously deactivated even after five cycles, and the decrease of its catalytic performance was related to the leaching of –SO3H on the catalyst surface. Overall, these findings suggest that\u0000 H3PO4-activated CSA offers the benefits of less cost, a simpler preparation method, and greater catalytic activity compared to other catalysts, making it a desirable option for the synthesis of EGMA.

However, the feasibility of RFA in treating the tumor bed in breast surgery remains investigational. Herein, we have reported the preliminary results evaluating the effect of RFA in breast-conserving\u0000 surgery (BCS), followed by neo-adjuvant chemotherapy (NAC), and the antibacterial effect of nanomaterials. From April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2017, 22 patients received NAC followed by BCS. After the lumpectomy was complete, suspicious tumor margins were ablated with radiofrequency electrodes.\u0000 The clinicopathological features and follow-up results of these patients were collected. Furthermore, the Ag nanogel was prepared for the evaluation of antibacterial activity. RFA was successful in all 22 patients during BCS. Two patients (4.5%) got skin burns and six patients (27.3%) had\u0000 solid nodules formed in situ. The median follow-up time was 22.5 months (range, 11–34 months). No patients presented local recurrences or metastasis. Moreover, 18 patients (81.8%) were satisfied with the cosmetic outcomes. The Ag nanogel has stable morphology and good bacteriostatic\u0000 effect in Escherichia coli and Bovis aureus. The RFA techniques applied in BCS after NAC have high success rates with relatively low complication rates. RFA may improve cosmetic results after BCS and enhance local tumor control. Further applications of RFA in patients treated\u0000 with BCS after NAC must be assessed in long-term studies. Nanomaterials have good antibacterial effect and can be used on the surface of medical instruments.

In this work, the CMOS process-compatible TiW/SiOX:Al/TiW memristor with negative differential resistance (NDR) effect is explored for this application.\u0000 Nonpolar switching with a 340 on/off ratio, data retention beyond 106 s, and endurance of 106 cycles are realized. The device shows excellent analog behavior with nonlinearities of 1.69 and 0.65 of long-term potentiation and depression, respectively, under identical pulse\u0000 stimuli. The synaptic features such as long-term potentiation (LTP), long-term depression (LTD), spike-timing-dependent plasticity (STDP), and paired-pulse facilitation (PPF) are mimicked. Moreover, on the basis of the symmetry and linearity of the conductance of TiW/SiOX:Al/TiW\u0000 memristor, the neural network simulation for supervised learning presents successful pattern recognition, with an accuracy of 93.11% achieved after 20 iterations. Cardiomyocytes were isolated and cultured by adherence method and the relationship between miRNA-34b and TIA-1-SG was analyzed by dual-luciferase gene reporter assay.\u0000 The correlation between myocardial autophagy and liquiritigenin treatment was assessed along with qRT-PCR analysis of the changes of genes (TIA-1, SG, ULK1, OsATG7, FAM176A, Beclin 1). miRNA-34b expression in 32 patients with myocardial autophagy injury was higher than normal group. miRNA-34b\u0000 binds to the 3′-UTR of TIA-1 and transfection of miRNA-34b inhibitor increased the luciferase activity, which was not affected in pMIR-TIA-1-mut group, confirming the relationship between miRNA-34b and TIA-1.
