Therefore, the authentic interpretative communities of these allusions in Pynchon’s narrative are both overwhelmingly definite and entropic. The Cryings sole protagonist, Oedipa, is loaded by a chaotic information overflow that yields anarchy and uncertainty. She also cannot find convincing answers to the mysterious yet realistic questions, hence, she gets alienated in the hyperreal puzzling world of uncorrelated information. Oedipa becomes mentally disoriented and indifferent as a result of the dominant hyperreality in the postmodern world. To trace this novels confusing symbols and allusions, which trap Oedipa as the most significant hyperreal source of this paper argument. There is a significant thematointertextual analogy between Baudrillards America, with the notions of sign-based hyperreality and postmodernism and Pynchon’s The Crying of Lot 49, for the latter portrays a modern society full of codified signs and simulation. This study used qualitative research method to trace and explain the various analogies and commonalities between the two authors and their postmodernist texts.","PeriodicalId":180368,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124834039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Updates are received via social media, and people encourage keep-up with public health measures to stay safe. Using best practices in crisis communication theory as the theoretical framework; this article investigates how social media is used in informing people during the COVID-19 pandemic and its possible impact. This study employed an online survey to investigate whether social media platforms helped to educate and prevent the COVID-19 pandemic or have instead caused panic among the Ghanaian migrants in Beijing, China. The statistical population of this study consisted of the entire 472 members of the WeChat groups of Ghanaian migrants while purposive sampling was used to select 460 Ghanaian migrants. The findings from this study indicated that the utilization of social media has dramatically caused panic among the Ghanaian Migrant community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Public educations regarding pandemics are done through social media; therefore, there is a need to monitor social media usage. From a critical search of the literature on studies on social media and COVID-19, this article happens to be among the very few papers on how many social media has caused panic during the COVID-19 global public health crisis. Also, this study will contribute to both academia and policymaker’s knowledge of how information disseminates on similar future public health crises.","PeriodicalId":180368,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117100654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As elucidating epistemological framework in each theory helps us to clarify dark angles of that theory, this paper focuses on the epistemological approach conveyed from Avicenna’s philosophy to Sadra’s transcendent theosophy. Under the influence of Avicenna’s and Mulla Sadra’s different ontological approaches, i.e., essentialism and existentialism, their epistemic theories are transformed from the theory of abstraction into the unity of the known-object and the knower-subject. The required data for this study have been collected mainly through library research from secondary and primary sources. Library research is a method by means this research focuses on relevant sources in three languages: original works such as books, data bases, theses and articles which are mostly in Arabic and some are in English and Persian. The two scholars relying on a common base stone, realism, present two different theories to interpret the relationship between the human mind and the external world. As the border between the mind and external world determines the degree of realism in each theory, the paper examines their epistemic theories, which explain the relationship between the mind as the knower-subject and the external world as the known object. However, as their epistemology and ontology are two sides of a coin, such research is bound to fail without considering this cohesion. Hence, the present article is to focus on two fundamental issues as the problem statements of research: first, how their ontologies influence their epistemological theories, and, second, what weak and strong points imply the limitations of the two thinkers’ realistic attitudes.","PeriodicalId":180368,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130338244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Heritage resources must be valued and mobilized in tourism development projects. Existing heritage thus represents assets and potential to develop tourism in Morocco in general and in the hinterland in particular. The development initiatives undertaken through territorial projects of tourism mobilize various territorial and heritage resources. We therefore find it interesting to focus our thinking on the logic of building these touristic territories and the heritage processes affecting their resources. Heritage is a social construction and the implementation of territorial projects is a pillar for heritage dynamics. This leads us to believe that there is a synergy between heritage and development. In this context, the objective of our research focused on the forms of heritage processes affecting heritage objects, focusing on the different territorial and heritage resources mobilized in tourism development in the Souss hinterlands. The aim of this research was to study the interrelationships between heritage, tourism and territorial development by determining the conditions under which heritage can be a vector for sustainable development.","PeriodicalId":180368,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131114485","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was comparatively easier for teachers and students to connect with each other in UAE, with over 98% of the population connected to high quality internet. This study is an attempt to evaluate the online experience of both teachers and the students;during the emergency switch amid COVID19 lockdown;compared to the traditional physical classes. A quantitative rating survey was used to collect data from teachers and students of only current Grade XII at 3 private schools delivering the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum in the UAE. A total of 110 subjects responded and registered their feedback. The study found that while both teachers and students rated the overall physical class experience substantially higher than online. The online teaching successfully delivered and achieved the core academic objectives. Teachers rated online classes rated marginally higher than students, indicating a high level of commitment and readiness to learn and adapt. Though there was a clear concern on students’ engagement during online classes and their physical wellbeing during the period.","PeriodicalId":180368,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126539031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to investigate the general public knowledge, attitude, and behavior regarding COVID-19. One thousand three hundred and eighty participants completed the study, one-third of them were female, and two-thirds were male. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted to collect responses from three developing countries (China, India, and Pakistan). The IBM SPSS version 23.0 was used for descriptive and regression analysis of the study. The study’s findings include the intermediate knowledge and attitude of the general public compared to practices regarding COVID-19. Marital status is significantly linked with knowledge, whereas country and marital status are significantly linked with attitude, gender, and country significantly linked with behavior. Moreover, the correlation between knowledge, attitude, and general public behavior were significant (correlation coefficient = 0.322, p < 0.05). The study’s findings proposed that the general public should follow the instructions of government and health agencies to stay home stay safe. And future studies should focus on motivating factors for governments to impose lockdown.","PeriodicalId":180368,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122577019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Huge and complicated construction projects contain a lot of risk factors, and the completion of these projects relies on the proper management of the main risks. This paper identifies the critical risk factors associated with construction projects along with the most commonly used risk identification techniques and methods of classifying risks. For this study, a total of sixty-seven risk factors were identified through an in-depth content analysis of the literature. The method used for ranking critical risks, risk identification techniques, and classifying risk was based on the number of articles considering that particular risk, technique, and method. The top five identified risks were unavailability of funds, design errors & poor engineering, poor site management & supervision, contractual risks, change in laws and regulations. The most commonly used risk identification technique and method of classifying risk was the questionnaire survey and nature of the risk. The research findings are helpful to engineers, supervisors, project managers, and construction practitioners for early assessment and proper management of risks present in construction projects. of risk in the construction projects. The assessment was done on multi-attribute decision-making methods. In this paper, the risk was divided into three groups- external, project, internal. Only those risk attributes were selected that affect the construction and real estate industry. TOPIS grey and COPRAS-G methods were used for ranking and determining the optimality of different attributes. The proposed model can be used for avoiding negative impacts and increasing the chances of positive outcomes. Decision making has an significant role in construction management. The results of the research show different levels of construction projects and if a risk assessment is done properly, loses can be minimized.","PeriodicalId":180368,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131973955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
