Lack of the community participation toward decision making and preparation of the planning of rural development in urban centers outside the affected villages in Sudan are factors that cause policy failure in livelihoods development. The Participatory Geographic Information System (PGIS) potential has been recognized. It can be extremely useful if it is applied to the development of sustainable livelihoods and reduction of poverty in a participatory approach. However, as result of lack information about public knowledge, data sharing, and geospatial data, Sudan has been slow to adopt this technology. In this research, by using the Participatory Rural Approach and the Geographic Information System (GIS) as a geographic database, planning and monitoring tool in qualitative methodology, we can gain an understanding of the conditions of rural livelihoods in order to enhance the rural livelihoods planning with the help of the Livelihoods-Framework and Livelihoods Enhancement Action Plan techniques.","PeriodicalId":180368,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences","volume":"398 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115829047","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aims to analyze the types of speech acts used in Jakarta Post and Jakarta Globe headlines after the Indonesian General Election 2019. There are seventy headlines selected from those two online web pages which consist of 20 headlines from Jakarta globe and 50 headlines from Jakarta post. Descriptive statistics were used. First, assertive speech acts became the highest one than other types of speech acts employed by both Jakarta Globe and Jakarta Post news websites in composing headlines. Second, the headlines employed by Jakarta Post and Jakarta Globe headlines after the Indonesian general election show that they are similar that both websites have similar percentages of using assertive and declarations as to the second rank of use in their headlines. Based on the conclusions above, it can be concluded that the study of the use of types of speech acts in news headlines could be a way to uncover hidden meanings that could influence the readers on certain issues which also could affect the belief of the reader.","PeriodicalId":180368,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123671060","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study, therefore, examines young generation, Chinese respondents, regarding their experiences of traveling in Thailand to gain a better understanding of Chinese tourist behavior, and identify motivational factors that significantly influence their satisfaction. This research has compared and measured customer satisfaction for both experience in China against experience in Thailand in six variables namely Cost of traveling, Weather, Taste of local food, Interesting places, long-distance public transportation and Quality of life. To collect the relevant quantitative and qualitative data, questionnaires were given to the respondents with Chinese language translation. The findings show that Chinese students are highly satisfied with time in Thailand because of favorable weather, the taste of local food, interesting places, and better quality of life. However, the costs of traveling and long-distance public transportation for Thailand are doubtful in Chinese students perception.","PeriodicalId":180368,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125442904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is the aim of this study to present statistical validation on the effectiveness of the implementation of the war on drugs of the President through the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as the lead government agency. Variables such as awareness, efficiency, and transparency were among the key indicators assessed by the selected Barangay officials in Quezon City, particularly those tagged as seriously affected barangays by illegal drugs. The Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime rates in the National Capital Region (NCR) from 2014-2018 were also assessed to determine if the drug war could curtail crime rates in the Metro. Data revealed satisfactory results, which are a clear validation that communities were properly informed on the procedural and legal aspects of implementing the drug war. On the other hand, it was clearly manifested that some programs that encourage the community to divulge drug activities were not effectively disseminated, and trials of drug personalities were not frequently published through media. Moreover, it was also proven that there is no direct link to claim that the drug war had a significant impact in decreasing crime rates in NCR, given the comparison of crime volume before and during the implementation of the war on drugs. This study vividly presented the strong points and weak points of the war on drugs program of the current administration hence, a powerful anchor towards the continuous improvement of its processes through its proper implementation and evaluation of its effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":180368,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124881244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
