Physical dormancy can be broken by scarification techniques. There are three scarification techniques, namely mechanical, physical, and chemical scarification. This study aimed to determine which scarification techniques were effective against the breaking of kenaf seed dormancy. The research was carried out at the Seed Laboratory of the Indonesian Sweetener and Fiber Crops Research Institute in January-May 2019. The research method used a randomized block design consisting of seven scarification treatments with four replications. The treatment consists of mechanical treatment, water soaking treatment at 70oC for 3 hours, water soaking treatment at 80oC for 3 hours, water soaking treatment at 90oC for 3 hours, H 2 SO 4 98% soaking for 5 minutes, H 2 SO 4 98% soaking for 10 minutes and H 2 SO 4 98% soaking for 15 minutes. The results showed that the scarification technique had a significant effect on increasing the viability of kenaf seeds. Scarification treatment with H 2 SO 4 98% soaking for 5 minutes effectively broke the dormancy of kenaf seed. It could improve the germination of kenaf seeds up to 6%, reduce the number of seed trichomes, and effectively exfoliate the hilum cap . The study suggest that soaking the kenaf seeds in H 2 SO 4 98% for 10 minutes could be adopted to break the seed dormancy to improve the germination. Keywords : dormancy, Hibiscus cannabinus , hilum cap , scarification, seed trichome ABSTRAK EFEKTIVITAS TEKNIK SKARIFIKASI UNTUK MEMATAHKAN DORMANSI BENIH KENAF ( Hibiscus cannabinus L.) Benih kenaf memiliki struktur permukaan yang keras, trikoma, dan penutup hilum yang menempel kuat. Hal ini dapat menghambat proses perkecambahan benih kenaf dan menjadi salah satu penyebab dormansi fisik. Dormansi fisik dapat dipatahkan dengan teknik skarifikasi. Terdapat tiga teknik skarifikasi, yaitu skarifikasi mekanik, fisik, dan kimia. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui teknik skarifikasi yang efektif terhadap pematahan dormansi benih kenaf. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Benih Balai Penelitian Tanaman Pemanis dan Serat pada bulan Januari-Mei 2019. Metode penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok yang terdiri atas tujuh perlakuan skarifikasi benih kenaf dengan empat ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari perlakuan mekanik, perendaman air suhu 70oC selama 3 jam, perendaman air suhu 80oC selama 3 jam, perendaman air suhu 90oC selama 3 jam, perendaman H 2 SO 4 98%  selama 5 menit, perendaman H 2 SO 4 98% selama 10 menit dan perendaman H 2 SO 4 98% selama 15 menit. Banyaknya benih tiap perlakuan adalah 400 biji. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknik skarifikasi berpengaruh nyata terhadap pematahan dormansi benih kenaf. Some putative sugarcane mutants originating from the PS 881 variety have been produced through mutation induction using colchicine. The study aimed to determine the effect of colchicine induced on genome size and agronomical traits, and its correlation with sugarcane putative mutants production. The experiment was conducted at the UPBUP of IAARD, Bogor, July 2018-April 2019. The research was carried out in an augmented design in randomized complete block design, using 35 genotypes of the first generation G0 (30 putative mutants from colchicine 0.03 and 0.05%, five check varieties). The genome size, agronomical traits, i.e. stem number, length, diameter, and weight per meter; internode number and length; brix, and production, were evaluated. This result showed that colchicine increased 5.03-13.64% genome size of putative sugarcane mutants compared to the original variety PS 881. It is significantly different for almost all of agronomical traits. The genome size was significantly correlated very positively with brix and significantly positively with stem length and diameter, and production. Path analysis showed that stem (weight per meter and length) has a direct effect on production, in contrast, genome size, stem diameter, internode number, and brix have an indirect effect through stem weight per meter to production. Indirect selection to obtain high production can be done through stem (weight per meter and length), consider for genome size, stem diameter, internode number, and brix. This is  experimental preliminary information, validation on field is needed among direct and indirect of production components to production. Sejumlah mutan putatif tebu yang berasal dari varietas PS 881 telah dihasilkan melalui induksi mutasi menggunakan kolkisin. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kolkisin terhadap ukuran genom dan karakter agronomi, serta hubungannya dengan produksi mutan putatif tebu. Percobaan dilaksanakan di Unit Pengelola Benih Unggul Pertanian (UPBUP), Badan Litbang Pertanian, Bogor, Juli 2018-April 2019. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan augmented dalam rancangan acak kelompok lengkap, dengan 35 genotipe generasi awal G0 (30 mutan putatif tebu hasil perlakuan kolkisin 0,03 dan 0,05%, serta lima varietas pembanding). The research was conducted at the PT. Pemalang Agro Wangi in Jonggol - Bogor Regency in April 2019.  Analysis of the cost of production was carried out by the full costing method. The feasibility test was carried out with several investment feasibility criteria, namely B/C ratio, NPV and IRR.Data collection was done by interviewing key informants, namely: producers and farmers of organic citronella using snowball sampling. The results showed that price cost of seeds, herbs and oil of organic  sitronela were Rp.103,00/cuttings, Rp662,00/kg and Rp205.757,00/kg. The Organic sitronela nursery and herbs were feasible, at 7% / year interest rates,  each  produced Net B/C ratio were 4,7% and NPV Rp289.386.802,00 per ha, and B/C ratio of 1.05, NPV of Rp49.024.781,00 and IRR 17,92% for eleven ha Organic citronella cultivation produced essential oil content of 0.35% to 0.7% lower than inorganic cultivation >1%, thus impact on higher cost of product. In order for the cultivation of organic citronella to develop, the selling price of oil should be more expensive than inorganic citronella oil.Keywords: Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendl, organic, cost price, business feasibility AbstrakANALISA BIAYA POKOK DAN KELAYAKAN AGRIBISNIS SERAI WANGI ORGANIKPerhitungan harga pokok dan kelayakan usaha sangat bermanfaat dalam menetapkan harga jual, dan pengambilan keputusan untuk pengembangan usaha serai wangi organik. Penelitian dilakukan di kebun PT. Pemalang Agro Wangi di Jonggol – Kabupaten Bogor pada bulan April 2019. Analisis harga pokok produksi dilakukan dengan metode full costing. Uji kelayakan dilakukan dengan kriteria kelayakan investasi yaitu B/C ratio, NPV dan IRR. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode wawancara kepada informan kunci yaitu: produsen serai wangi organik dan petani penggarap menggunakan metode bola salju (snowball sampling). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan usaha agribisnis serai wangi organik menghasilkan harga pokok benih, daun dan minyak masing-masing sebesar Rp103,00/stek,  Rp662,00/kg dan Rp205.757,00/kg. Usahatani benih dan daun serai wangi organik layak diusahakan, pada suku bunga 7%/tahun. Untuk usaha benih diperoleh B/C 4,7 dan NPV Rp289.386.802,00 per ha, serta untuk usaha daun diperoleh B/C 1,05, NPV Rp49.024.781,00 dan IRR 17,92 % per delapan ha. Budidaya serai wangi organik menghasilkan kadar minyak atsiri 0,35-0,7% lebih rendah dari pada budidaya anorganik (>1%), sehingga berdampak pada harga pokok produk yang lebih tinggi. An experiment to determine the effect of thermal (steam heat) and non-thermal (immersion in ozone water) re-processing on microbial and off-flavor contamination of white pepper, had been executed in Laboratory of the Indonesian Center for Agricultural Postharvest Research and Development work during February – November 2019. The experiment was arranged in a Complete Randomized Design with 7 treatments and three replications. The seven treatments were: control (no reprocessing), thermal treatment steam heat at 90 - 100°C for 0, 30, 60, 90 minutes and non-thermal immersionin ozonized water for 0, 20, 40, dan 60 minutes. The result showed that thermal and non-thermal reprocessing of white pepper could increase the physical characters, reduce microbial contaminant, as well as off-flavor contamination in produced white pepper. Thermal treatments for 30 minutes was identified as the best treatment. The process had been able to improve the quality of white pepper to meet SNI quality class II, reduced the microbial contaminant and reduced the chemical compounds producing off-flavor. GC-MS analysis showed that the ability of thermal treatment in reducing those compounds, such as hexanoic acid, p-cresol and 3-methyl indole. Meanwhile, propanoic acid and heptanoic acid were undetected. Keywords:   White pepper, hot water vapor, ozone, off-flavor Abstrak PENGARUH PENANGANAN ULANG SECARA TERMAL DAN NON-TERMAL TERHADAP TINGKAT KONTAMINASI MIKROBA DAN BAU MENYIMPANG PADA LADA PUTIH Lada putih (Piper nigrum ) hasil olahan petani secara tradisional sering menghasilkan biji lada putih yang berbau menyimpang ( off-flavor ) menyerupai bau kotoran dan cemaran mikroba melebihi ambang batas menurut SNI. Penelitian telah dilakukan di Laboratorium Balai Besar Penelitian dan Pengembangan Pascapanen dari bulan Februari - November 2019. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh penanganan ulang biji lada putih secara termal (pemberian uap panas) dan non-termal (perendaman dalam air mengandung ozon) terhadap sifat fisiko-kimia, penurunan kontaminan mikroba dan penekanan bau menyimpang. Percobaan dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 7 perlakuan dan tiga kali ulangan. Perlakuan tersebut meliputi: kontrol (tanpa perlakuan penanganan ulang), perlakuan termal dengan pemberian uap panas pada 90-100 o C selama 30, 60 dan 90 menit serta perlakuan non-termal yaitu perendaman dalam air berozon selama 20, 40, dan 60 menit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penanganan ulang lada putih secara termal dan non-termal telah mampu memperbaiki mutu fisik, menurunkan kontaminan mikroba dan menekan bau menyimpang pada lada putih. Percobaan dilakukan dari bulan April sampai September 2002. Percobaan lapang pada tanah tegal di Desa Guluk-guluk, Kecamatan Guluk-guluk, Kabupaten Sumenep. Per¬ lakuan tcrdiri dari sembilan kombinasi dosis (0-7 000 kg/ha) dan tipe pupuk organik (POD dan pupuk kandang) dengan empat ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa POD lebih unggul dalam kandungan hara dan pengaruhnya pada tembakau dibanding pupuk kandang. POD dapat meningkatkan kadar air tanah pada kapasitas lapang dan konsentrasi K dalam tanaman. Perlakuan terbaik adalah POD dosis 5 000 kg/ha dengan bobot daun rajangan kering 1 156 kg/ha, indeks mutu 73.4 dan indeks tanaman 77.2. POD dosis 1 000 kg/ha menghasilkan daun rajangan kering 849 kg/ha, indeks mutu 76.8 dan indeks tanaman 60.0. Dosis POD tersebut lebih baik dibanding pupuk kandang yang sama. Respon tembakau terhadap dosis POD 7 000 kg/ha lebih jelek dibanding 5 000 kg/ha.Kata kunci : Tembakau, Nicotiana tabacum L., pupuk organik, pupuk kandang, hasil mutu ABSTRACT Responses of madura tobacco to two types of organic fetilizersThe research was conducted to find out the effect of the Enriched Organic Fertilizer (POD) of industrial by product and Farmyard Manure (FYM) on soil physical properties, nutrient uptake, plant performance, yield, and quality of madura tobacco. Field experiment was conducted from April to September 2002 in upland ield of Guluk-guluk village, Guluk-guluk sub district, Sumenep. The research used randomized completely block design (RCBD) with 9 combinations of organic fertilizer kinds and dosages and 4 replications. The results showed that the POD gave higher effect and nutrient contents than that of FYM. The POD could increase the field capacity soil moisture and K biomass concentration. The best treatment of the POD was 5 000 kg/ha, which gave yield I 156 kg, dried sliced leaves/ha, quality index 73.4 and crop index 77.2. The application of the POD 1 000 kg/ha produced 849 kg dried sliced leaves/ ha, quality index 76.8, and crop index 60.0, which was better than that of FYM 5 000 kg/ha. Penelitian dimulai dari April sampai Oktober 2001 di Laboratorium Fisiologi Hasil dan Keteknikan, Balinro dan Laboratorium Entomologi, Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan, IPB Komponen formula terdiri dari ekstrak piretrum, minyak serai wangi, minyak wijen, naftalen, pine oil, pclarut pertasol CB dan LAWS. Perlakuan formulasi yaitu dibual variasi konsentrasi ekstrak piretrum ( 0.041% dan 0.052% ), penambahan/tanpa pine oil (0%, 0.1%) dan natalen (0%, 1.0%) serta jenis pclarut (LAWS dan pertasol CB). Uji effektivitas dilakukan terhadap serangga rumah tangga yaitu lalat, nyamuk, semut dan kecoa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa dua formula yaitu Fi dan F, adalah formula paling effektif terhadap lalat Musca domeslica dan sebagai formula terpilih adalah Fj. Formula ini effektif terhadap nyamuk Culex qumquefasciatus dengan mematikan 92% pada menit ke dua sangat efektif terhadap semut t'onera sp. dengan angka kematian 100% pada menit ke dua, dan kurang effektif terhadap kecoa Blatella germanica menyebabkan kematian 90% pada menil ke 30. Komposisi formula F> terdii dari ekstrak piretrum dengan kadar piretrin 0.041%, minyak serai wangi 0.1%, minyak wijen 3%, natalen 1% dan pelarut LAWS. Pelarut terbaik untuk formula ini adalah LAWS.Kata kunci: Fly spray, Piretrum, formulasi, uji effektivitas, serangga rumah tangga ABSTRACT Fly spray formulation of pyrethrum extract and its effectiveness on housefliesThe production of ly spray formula with active ingredient pyrethrum extract and its efficacy on houselics were conducted from Apil to October 2001 at (he Research Institute for Spice and Medicinal Crops, Bogor and at Entomology laboratory of FKH - IPB. The formula was made from pyrethrum extract, citronella oil, sesame oil, natalein, pine oil and solvent, i.e pertasol CB and LAWS. The parameters observed were the variation concentration of pyrethrum extract (0.041% and 0.051%), added with pine oil (0%, 0.1%), natalein (0%, 1.0%) and solvents (LAWS and pertasol CB). The eficacy lest was conducted on houselies which included housely, mosquito, ant and cockroach. The result showed that F> and Fi were ihe most effective to M. domeslica and Fi is the selected formula. Fi was effective to Cx. qumquefasciatus mosquito which killed 92% of the mosquito in two minutes, and very effective to Ponera sp ants which killed 100% in iwo minutes, and less effective to B. germanica cockroach which killed 90% in half hour. Bahan lanaman yang digunakan adalah 19 populasi kelapa lokal hasil koleksi dan beberapa pulau di Indonesia, ditanam di Kebun Percobaan Pakuwon, Jawa Barat pada tahun 1978 dan 1982. Tinggi tempat 450 m di atas permukaan laut dengan tipe iklim Bl menurut Oldeman. Jumlah tanaman 100 pohon, dengan jarak tanam 9 m x 9 m scgi empat untuk kelapa Dalam dan 60 pohon kelapa Genjah dengan jarak tanam 7 m x 7 m scgi empat sciiap populasi. Pengamatan dilaksanakan dalam dua lahap Mei-Agusius 1996 pada 14 populasi dan Juni-Agustus 2000 pada 5 populasi saat tanaman kelapa berumur 18 tahun. Tanaman yang diamati 4 pohon diulang 3 kali setiap populasi sehingga total tanaman yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 19x4x3 « 228 pohon. Sifat yang diamati meliputi sifat-sifat morfologi batang, daun dan rangkaian bunga Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variabilitas genetik sifal-sifal morfologi kelapa umumnya sempil. Beberapa sifat seperti: diameter batang 1,5 m dai permukaan lanah, panjang batang 11 bckas daun, langkai bunga tanpa bunga betina, dan jumlah bunga betina menunjukkan variabilitas genetik yang luas Pada umumnya hcritabilitas dalam am luas dan kemajuan genetik dalam persen untuk semua sifat tinggi, kecuali hentabilitas sifat tangkai bunga membawa bunga betina bemilai sedang. Terdapat korelasi genetik positif yang nyata pada sifat-sifat morfologi batang dengan daun dan rangkaian bunga, kecuali dengan jumlah bunga betina/tandan dan jumlah tandan/ph/lh. Dari 15 sifat yang diamati, hanya 6 sifat yang mempunyai korelasi genetik nyata dengan sifat jumlah bunga betina/tandan yaitu: diameter batang 1.5 m dari permukaan lanah (rg = -0.5215*), panjang batang 11 bckas daun (rg • -0.5369*), lebar anak daun (rg ■ -0.5961**), tebal tangkai landan (rg = 0.5802**), panjang rangkaian bunga (rg ■ -0,6143**), dan panjang tangkai bunga (rg = -0.4907*), sehingga sifat-sifat tersebut dapat digunakan sebagai kiteia seleksi untuk memperoleh jumlah bunga betina banyak per mayang pada lanaman kelapa.Kata kunci: Kelapa, parameter genetik, korelasi, sifat morfologi ABSRACT Estimation of Genetic Parameters and Correlation Between Morphological Traits in Coconut (Cocos nucifera, Linn)The objective of this experiment was to determine genetic parameters and correlation between morphological trails on the coconut population. A total of 19 local coconut populations were collected from some islands in Indonesia, planted at Pakuwon Experimental Garden, West Java in 1978 and 1982. The altitude is 450 meters above sea level with climate type Bl Oldeman. The total number of sample is 100 palms for each tall coconut with planting distance 9 x 9 m and 60 palms for each dwarf coconut with planting distance 7 x 7m. The observation was done in two steps i.e.: May - August 1996 on 14 populations and June - August 2000 on 5 populations when the coconut population was 18 years old. Penelitian ini bertujuan unluk mem¬ peroleh galur-galur unggul jarak bcrproduktivitas tinggi, dan spcsiik di Kawasan Timur Indonesia. Galur yang diuji sebanyak 9 galur harapan yaitu RC.67, RC.74. RC.86, RC.104, RC.106, RC.220, RC.221, RC.64, KF.VIII dan sebagai pembanding digunakan 3 varietas komersial yaitu Asembagus 22, Asembagus 60 dan Asembagus 81. Penelitian mengguna¬ kan rancangan acak kelompok dengan ulangan 3 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 3 galur unggul yaitu RC.67, RC.221 dan RC.64, yang sama potensi dengan varietas Asb.81, mempunyai adaptasi luas (varietas stabil). Dua galur lainnya yaitu RC.74 dan RC.104 beradaplasi sempit (spesiik lokasi) sesuai untuk daerah Bayan Nusa Tenggara BaratKata kunci : Ricmus commums, stabilitas hasil, spesifik lokasi ABSTRACT Yield Stability of Castor LinesThe experiment was conducted in two locations at Sandubaya (East I-ombok) and Bayan (West lombok), in planting session 1998/1999 and 1999/2000 from November 1998 to September 2000 This experiment was aimed to ind oul superior lines of castor, high productivities, that can be developed in speciic dry area in easten pat of Indonesia. The trial was arranged in randomized block design with 3 replications. Nine lines, RC.67, RC.74, RC.86, RC.104. RC.106. RC.220, RC. 221, RC6I, KF.VIII and 3 control varieties, Asembagus 22, Asembagus 60 and Asembagus 81 were used as treatment. Results of this experiment found out 3 superior lines: RC 67, RC.221 and RC.64, which have the same potential with Asb.81 variety, have broad adaptation (stable lines). Two other lines : RC.74 and RC.104 have narrow adaptation (speciic location) just for Bayan. Salah satu usaha untuk mengatasinya adalah dengan menanam berbagai jenis tanaman sela di antara kelapa atau disebut polatanam campuran. Untuk mengetahui penggunaan dua model pola¬ tanam padi dan kacang tanah di antara kelapa yang lebih produktif dan menguntungkan telah dilakukan penelitian di Desa Caringinnunggal, Kecamatan Ciracap, Kabupaten Sukabumi, Propinsi Jawa Barat dengan jenis tanah podsolik merah kuning, tipe iklim Cl (Oldeman), dan kctinggian tempat 250 m dpi. Penelitian dilaksanakan secara on farm dengan menggunakan mctode observasi dimulai dai bulan Juni 1999 sampai dengan Maret 2000. Perlakuan yang diuji adalah dua model polatanam yaitu : (1) padi dan kacang tanah (75% : 25%); (2) padi dan kacang tanah (50% 50%) dengan dasar kelapa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan dua model polatanam (padi + kacang tanah) campuran berpengaruh positif terhadap tanaman pokok kelapa, khususnya pada karaktcr jumlah daun, jumlah bunga betina, setting buah dan produksi nira. Produktivitas tanaman sela padi pada dua model yang diuji sangat rendah. Produktivitas padi pada model satu adalah 798 kg dan model dua 496 kg gabah kenngpanen atau masing-masing setara dengan 1 064 kg dan 992.0 kg gabah keing panen/ha petanaman kelapa. Produktivitas tanaman sela kacang tanah pada dua model yang diuji cukup tinggi. Produktivitas kacang tanah pada model satu adalah 670 kg dan model dua I 220 kg polong basah atau masing-masing setara dengan 2 680 kg dan 2 440 kg polong basah/ha petanaman kelapa. Hasil. analisis finansial menunjukkan, bahwa model polatanam satu memberikan keuntungan Rp. 904 300/ha/th, B/C ratio 1.12 dan LKM 0.0495, sedang model dua membei keuntungan Rp. 1 367 800/ha/th, B/C ratio 1.17 dan LKM 0.0333.Kata kunci: Cocos nucifera, Oryza saliva, Arachis hipogea, polatanam campuran, Sukabumi ABSTRACT Two model of rice (Oryza sativa> and peanut (Arachis hipogea) cropping system on coconut land in Sukabumi Regency -West JavaThe productivity of coconut smallholder's income, in general, is still low. One of the solutions to overcome this problem is to introduce some intercrops in the coconut land. This study was conducted in Cainginnunggal Village, Ciracap, Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province, rom June 1999 to March 2000. The soil is red yellow podsolic, the climate is C (Oldeman), the altitude is 250 m above sea level. This research used on-farm method with two models, namely (1) ice and peanut 75%: The results of the research showed that the intercropping of rice and peanut on coconut land had good effect on coconut as the main crop, particularly on the coconut leaf number, female lower number, ruit setting, and toddy production. The productivity of ice as the intercrop was very low. On the first model was 798 kg and on the second model was 496 kg harvest dry seed or eqivalent to 1.046 kg and 992 kg harvest dry seed/ha of coconut land.
