Its prevalence is increasing worldwide as a result of global warming and about one-third of the world land area is prone to drought. Droughts are also common in Pakistan that affects the agriculture. Wheat is the most important cereal crop in all over the world, but in Pakistan its yield is much lower than other countries. So, under this scenario there is a need to develop environment friendly approaches to mitigate the effects of drought stress for sustainable agricultural productivity. Use of organic matter can enhance soil moisture holding capacity and allow penetration of plant roots to access soil moisture and nutrients for higher crop yield. So, it is important to keep soil organic matter at reasonable levels to preserve the healthy soil. Cow dung manure and press mud both are good source of organic matter that can enhance nutrients and water holding capacity of soil. Silicon application can also improve the plant resistance to water deficiency under drought. The studies were carried out on mixtures with a complex additive based on S-3 superplasticizer. The complex included a plasticizing-air-entraining additive LHD with an air-entraining effect. Studies of the effects of S-3 and LHD additives on the construction and technical properties were carried out on mixtures with different cement flow rates and the same initial mobility. Studies of the rheological parameters of the mixtures were carried out using the mathematical theory of experimental design; measurements of resistivities were performed depending on the flow velocity. {"title":"Geoelectrical Assessment of Aquifer Potentials and its Vulnerability to Contaminant at El - Amin Proposed University Site, Minna, Niger State, Nigeria","authors":"S. It lies in the basement complex region of Northern Nigeria. The survey was carried out with the aim of determine the ground water potentials of the area and evaluate its aquifer protective capacity. The technique employed was the Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) using Schlumberger array. A total of 48 VES points were sounded on grid profiles separated by 100 m apart with VES spacing of 100 m. Three to four layers were observed. The Stratigraphy of subsurface shows: topsoil with resistivity range from 0.4 to 277.89 Ωm, Weathered/Fracture basement layer having resistivity vary between 31.0 and 982.89 Ωm and Fresh basement with resistivity range from 19.1 to 79935.239 Ωm. The Weathered/Fractured layer was considered as aquiferous horizon. The Longitudinal Conductance and resistivity Contour maps were produced. Thirteen VES points were delineated as groundwater potential with resistivity ranging from 45.5 Ωm to 611.77 Ωm, thickness ranging between 3.5 m and 13.07 m and depth ranging from 8.8 m to 24.43 m which represent about 18.75 percent of the area. Countries around the globe have made some arrangement of lockdown in order to slow down their infection. However this lockdown makes some positive effect on air quality and substantial reduction in nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ) air pollution worldwide. That creates an expansion of informal districts. The creation and development of these informal districts are left to their own devices by the authorities, who refuse to condone the illegal occupation of the lands. These letters must resort to individual practices to face the problems of basic infrastructure, sanitation ... However, these unsuitable practices are sometimes likely to provide lasting solutions to the problems posed. They neither ensure an improvement of living conditions, but damage the environment of these neighborhoods. This article, based on the literary review, qualitative and quantitative surveys and interviews, aims to highlight the interactions between the problems induced by the informal districts of Ziguinchor city and their social and environmental consequences. Two consortia namely highly metal tolerant fungi (HMTF) and moderately metal tolerant fungi (MMTF) were used for the bioaugmentation. The experiment was conducted at day 0, 20, 60, and 100. Soil physicochemical parameters (pH, conductivity, redox potentials, and metal concentrations) were found to decline along the duration of the experiment. The maximum metal removal (48%) was achieved in soil treated with HMTF. Both treatments were efficient than the control (P < 0.05). The bioremediation efficiency was significantly influenced by the bioaugmented fungi. Situation in the Himalayan region is no different. This study focuses on the analysis of water quality in the two major cities in the western Himalayas namely Shimla and Kathmandu. Divided in four parts, part II of the paper presents the study context and problem diagnostics. Part III is devoted to key concerns and the way forward. Finally, part IV presents conclusions and the research agenda. It is argued that among the factors that are responsible for this outcome are: primitive water treatment technologies, lack of good sanitary practices, lack of ecosystem focused water governance, and absence of effective water quality monitoring and surveillance. The usefulness of the available monitoring techniques is critically evaluated. Moss and lichens are considered very useful biodindicators especially for large-scale studies of heavy-metal deposition from the atmosphere. National and international organization standardized and shared monitoring protocols. We analysed the recent literature from 2019 to April 2020 and selected some significant case studies that contribute to an improvement of the analytical methods and to a development of new tools. A wide literature reports monitoring of air pollution with moss and lichens, both natural and transplanted. The use of transplanted moss as bioindicator of water pollution is less represented in the available literature. Phytobenthos represents a new frontier in the aquatic ecosystem monitoring and even if a standardized method has not yet been finalized, it represents a potential very useful biomonitor of metals, emergent pollutants and also microplastics in aquatic environment. Waste recycling and the circular economy are among the most important issues in the European Union strategies. Because Romania has yet to meet many requirements of the European Commission’s policies, there have been opened several infringement proceedings against our country for pollution, wood management, and waste management. This paper presents our researches regarding the implementation of an integrated waste management system in one of the most important sites of Romania-Cluj County. The aim of this system is to create the necessary infrastructure so waste management takes place perform in accordance with the legal norms, in conditions of protection for environmental and population health. Due to the current waste management system, these are deteriorated in a constant way.
