Siwalan coir fiber is quite potential to be used as a substrate in producing catalysts. Acid catalyst is one type of catalyst that as an important role in chemical process. This study aims to study the effect of the optimum mass ratio of carbon-KOH in the process of graphite synthesis based on siwalan charcoal so as to produce graphite with the most optimal characteristics, and optimum calcination temperature as a physical activation process in the synthesis of graphite based on siwalan coir fiber charcoal, and determine the time sulfonation which is optimum in producing acid catalysts There are 2 variables used in this study, temperature and sulfonation time. The method of making carbon is done by calcining to decompose the carbon source so that the composition is made according to what has been varied. After forming carbon-KOH composite, then sulfonation is carried out using sulfuric acid. Limbah merupakan kasus pencemaran lingkungan yang dapat menimbulkan permasalahan lingkungan dan memburuknya kesehatan bagi masyarakat, hal ini diakibatkan oleh limbah cair yang didapat dari berbagai kegiatan industri, terutama pada industri pangan karena menyisakan unsur-unsur yang langsung terbuang. Pemanfaatan berbagai limbah menjadi pupuk organik merupakan salah satu upaya untuk mengatasi masalah pencemaran lingkungan. Air limbah tempe dan buah pepaya merupakan salah satu limbah produksi yang memiliki kandungan organik tinggi juga mengandung unsur hara makro dan mikro yang berpotensi memperbaiki struktur tanah dan membantu proses pertumbuhan tanaman. Sehingga dibuatlah pemanfaatan limbah tersebut dalam bentuk Pupuk Organik Cair yang diaplikasikan pada tanaman Pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.). Peneliti mengangkat judul ini dengan tujuan untuk menguji pengaruh kedua limbah pada konsentrasi PO (0%), P1(10%), P2 (20%), dan P3 (30%) terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman pakcoy. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) kemudian dilanjutkan uji ANOVA, uji LSD/BNT, dan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa POC air limbah tempe dan limbah buah pepaya berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman pakcoy. Dalam pengolahan pascapanen, umbi porang diolah menjadi keripik dan tepung untuk memperpanjang waktu simpannya. Baik umbi maupun tepung porang masih mengandung kalsium oksalat dengan kadar yang cukup tinngi. Kalsium oksalat dapat menyebabkan rasa gatal pada lidah saat dikonsumsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perendaman umbi dan tepung porang dalam larutan sari buah belimbing wuluh. Tepung porang yang direndam dalam larutan sari buah belimbing wuluh mengalami gelatinasi. Konsentrasi larutan sari buah belimbing wuluh mempengaruhi kadar kalsium oksalat pada umbi dan tepung porang. Penurunan kadar kalsium oksalat paling besar pada umbi dan tepung porang terjadi setelah sampel direndam larutan sari buah belimbing wuluh 7% v/v.Kata kunci: porang, kalsium oksalat, belimbing wuluh.ABSTRACTPorang tubers are a plant that widely grown in Indonesia, especially in the Saradan Madiun East Java. After harvesting process, porang tubers are processed into chips and flour to increase storage time. Both tubers and porang flour still contain high levels of calcium oxalate. Calcium oxalate can cause itching on the tongue when consumed. This study aims to determine the effect of soaking tubers and porang flour in Averrhoa bilimbi juice solution. Porang flour soaked in the Averrhoa bilimbi juice solution undergo gelatination. The concentration of Averrhoa bilimbi juice solution affected the calcium oxalate level in porang tuber and flour. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi pembuatan Kombucha dengan variasi bahan dasar (teh hitam, teh hijau dan kopi) dengan jenis gula yang berbeda (gula pasir dan gula stevia); dan uji antibakteri menggunakan metode kertas cakram (difusi agar) terhadap bakteri Gram positif dan Gram negatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ke-6 varian Kombucha tidak berpengaruh atau tidak adanya zona bening (zona hambat) yang terbentuk di sekitar kertas cakram uji pada semua bakteri uji.Kata kunci: Kombucha teh dan kopi, bakteri Gram positif dan bakteri Gram negatif, zona hambat ABSTRACTThe aim of this tudy is to determine the ability of Kombucha to inhibit the growth of Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. The method used in this study included the making of Kombucha with a variety of basic ingredients (black tea, green tea and coffee) with different types of sugar (sugar and stevia sugar); and antibacterial tests using the paper disc (agar diffusion) method against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuan enam ulangan. Perlakuan POC yang digunakan terdiri dari konsentrasi 0%, 10%, 20% dan 40%. Peningkatan pertumbuhan tinggi tanaman, berat massa basah dan kandungan senyawa flavonoid pada konsentrasi optimum 20% pada bayam merah. Pemberian POC pada konsentrasi 40% mengalami penurunan disebabkan karena tingginya kandungan pupuk organik cair.Kata kunci: Pupuk Organik cair, limbah cair tahu, flavonoid.ABSTRACTThis study aims to identify the flavonoid content of red spinach plants by giving POC from tofu liquid waste and milkfish bone powder. The study design used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments of six replications. The POC treatment used consisted of concentrations of 0%, 10%, 20% and 40%. Increased growth in plant height, weight of wet mass and content of flavonoids at optimum concentration of 20% in red spinach. Pemberian antibiotik dalam jangka waktu yang lama dan dilakukan secara tidak rasional dapat menimbulkan masalah baru, yaitu munculnya patogen yang bersifat resisten. Oleh karena itu, pengobatan alternatif dengan menggunakan bahan dan tanaman herbal saat ini banyak digunakan. Bawang putih termasuk dalam familia Liliaceae merupakan tanaman herba parenial yang membentuk umbi lapis. Bawang putih sudah dikenal memiliki potensi medis dan dipercaya dapat berperan sebagai antifungi karena mengandung allicin didalamnya. Sedangkan bawang hitam merupakan bawang putih yang telah dipanaskan pada suhu 65-80ºC dengan kelembaban relatif 70-80% selama 30-40 hari tanpa perlakuan tambahan apapun. Bawang hitam memiliki sifat antibakteri lebih kuat, serta antioksidan dua kali lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan bawang putih biasa karena mengandung S-allycysteine. Peneliti tertarik mengangkat judul penelitian ini dengan tujuan untuk menguji kemampuan ekstrak bawang putih dan bawang hitam pada konsentrasi 25%, 50%, 75%, dan 100% terhadap pertumbuhan Candida albicans. Penelitian ini mengunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dan menggunakan uji lanjut BNT dan didapatkan hasil bahwa bawang hitam terbukti lebih baik menghambat pertumbuhan Candida albicans.Kata kunci : antifungi, ekstrak bawang hitam, ekstrak bawang putih, Candida albicansABSTRACTInfectious diseases have become one of the biggest health problems. Giving antibiotics in the long term and done irrationally can cause new problems, namely the emergence of resistant pathogens. Therefore, alternative treatments using herbal materials and plants are now widely used. Garlic included in the familia Liliaceae is a parenial herbaceous plant that forms tuber bulbs. Garlic is already known to have medical potential and is believed to act as antifungal due to its allicin content. While the black onion is garlic that has been heated at a temperature of 65-80 º C with a relative humidity of 70-80% for 30-40 days without any additional treatment. Black onions have stronger antibacterial properties, as well as antioxidants two times higher than regular garlic as they contain S-allycysteine. Researchers are interested in raising the title of this study with the aim to test the ability of both extracts at concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% on the growth of Candida albicans. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 25 perlakuan dan setiap perlakuan memiliki 6 ulangan sehingga terdapat 150 unit ekperimen. Pada tahap kultur kalus dilakukan dengan menambahkan zat pengatur tumbuh IBA dan BAP ke dalam medium Murashige and Skoog (MS). Hasil uji tersebut menunjukkan bahwa zat pengatur tumbuh IBA dan BAP dengan kombinasi konsentrasi berbeda berpengaruh terhadap waktu induksi kalus, berat segar dan berat kering kalus sirih hitam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan waktu tercepat pembentukan kalus pada IBA 2,0 mg/L dan BAP 2,0 mg/L yaitu 10 hari. Berat segar dan berat kering tertinggi pada IBA 2,0 mg/L dan 2,0 mg/L yaitu 0,8507 gram untuk berat segar dan 0,0769 untuk berat kering. Warna kalus adalah putih kehijauan dengan tekstur kompak dan remah.Kata kunci: Induksi kalus, Piper betle L., Indole Butyric Acid, 6-Benzyl Amino Purine.ABSTRACTThe purpose of this research to determine the effect of the combination concentration of growth regulators IBA (Indole Butyric Acid) and BAP (6-Benzyl Amino Purine) was best for callus induction black betel (Piper betle L.). This research used completely randomized design with 25 treatments and 6 replicates of each treatment, hence there were 150 experimental units. At this stage of callus culture was done by adding the growth regulators IBA and BAP into Murashige and Skoog (MS). The test results showed that plant growth regulators IBA and BAP in combination with different concentrations of influence on callus induction time, fresh weight and dry weight callus Piper betle L. The results showed the fastest time of callus formation at IBA 2,0 mg/L and BAP 2,0 mg/L at 10 days. Fresh weight and dry weight of the highest in the IBA 2,0 mg/L and BAP 2,0 mg/L were 0,8507 grams and 0,0769 grams fresh weight to dry weight. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kandungan logam berat timbal dalam produk kosmetik bedak yang beredar di pasar Pengampon Surabaya. Sampel yang digunakan dipreparasi dengan destruksi basah menggunakan aqua regia. Dari kelima sampel bedak, secara keseluruhan sampel mengandung logam timbal, dan tiga diantara melebihi batas yang telah ditetapkan oleh BPOM RI (20 mg/kg). Sampel dengan kode BD1, BD2 dan BD5 dengan nilai cemaran timbal masing-masing sebesar 27,2746 mg/kg; 21,0297 mg/kg; dan 24,2015 mg/kg.Kata kunci: Logam berat, Timbal, Bedak, Aqua Regia, Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom (SSA)ABSTRACTPowder is one of the many cosmetic preparations and cosmetic standard or commonly owned by women. This study aims to analyze the content of lead heavy metals in powder cosmetic products circulating in Pengampon market Surabaya. The sample used was prepared by wet destruction using aqua regia. From five powder samples, the overall sample contained lead metal, of which three outweighed the limits set by the BPOM RI (20 mg/kg). Obat yang diresepkan seringkali mengkombinasikan antibiotik dengan obat-obat simtomatis dan tidak sedikit yang berupa polifarmasi. Peresepan polifarmasi berpotensi pada kurang efisiennya pengobatan. Peresepan yang kurang efisien akan berakibat pada efektivitas dan keamanan terapi, eksaserbasi atau perpanjangan gejala dan penyakit, serta tingkat keamanan pada pasien, serta peningkatan biaya terapi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi peresepan terapi bronkopneumonia pada anak. Studi observasional secara retrospektif dilakukan pada peresepan bronkopneumonia anak usia 0-14 tahun di Unit Rawat Jalan Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Syarifah Ambami Rato Ebu Bangkalan, Indonesia selama tahun 2016. Evaluasi peresepan mengacu pada WHO prescribing indicator yang terdiri dari 5 poin. Hasil evaluasi pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata jumlah obat yang diresepkan adalah 4,60 item per kunjungan, obat generik diresepkan sebanyak 53,88%, antibiotik sebesar 69,31%, obat injeksi sebesar 0,99%, dan obat dalam Formularium Nasional tahun 2017 sebesar 48,28% dalam satu tahun periode peresepan. Sehingga, terdapat empat indikator yang belum sesuai dengan yang ditentukan WHO. Walaupun pemberian antibiotik sangat disarankan pada terapi bronkopneumonia, peresepan antibiotik masih memerlukan evaluasi lebih lanjut terkait rasionalitasnya. Selain itu, rendahnya peresepan berdasarkan Formularium Nasional tahun 2017 menunjukkan masih relatif rendahnya optimasi penggunaan obat yang cost-effective menurut kebijakan nasional.Kata kunci: Bronkopneumonia, Peresepan, Rawat Jalan.ABSTRACTBronchopneumonia is one of pneumonia manifestations commonly occur in children.The treatments usually combine antibiotics and symptomatic drugs in the form of polypharmacy.Polypharmacy can leads to inefficient treatmentsthat can cause ineffective and unsafe treatment, exacerbation or prolongation of illness, distress, harm to the patient and increasing the cost therapy.The aim of the study was to evaluate the prescribing for bronchopneumonia treatment in children. A retrospective observational study was conducted on prescriptions written for children with bronchopneumonia age 0-14 y.o in outpatient departement of Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Syarifah Ambami Rato Ebu Bangkalan, Indonesia during 2016.WHO prescribing indicators was used to evaluate the prescribing. The result showed that the average number of medicine per encounter was 4.60 items, including medicine prescribed by generic name was 53.88%, antibiotics prescribed was 69.31%, injection prescribed was 0.99%, and medicines prescribed from National Formulary 2017 was 48.28%. Hence, there were four indicators found to be innapproppriate to WHO recomendation. Although antibiotics are highly recommended in bronchopneumonia, the usage of antibiotics still need an assessment related to its rationality. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk determinasi dan analisa proksimat pada daun benalu pada pohon mangga arumanis di ketintang Madya Surabaya. Metode penelitian ini dilakukan secara true experimental. Penelitian ini meliputi determinasi tumbuhan benalu di LIPI Purwodadi dan analisa proksimat meliputi analisa kadar abu (Gravimetri), kadar air (Thermovolumetri), dan kadar karbohidrat total (Iodimetri). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil determinasi adalah tanaman Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq dan Macrosolen tetragonus BI. Hasil analisa proksimat daun benalu Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq diperoleh hasil rata-rata yaitu kadar abu 14,22%; kadar air 7,50%; kadar karbohidrat total 16,20%.Kata kunci: Determinasi, Analisa Proksimat, Benalu Mangga arum manis.ABSTRACTParasite plants are high-level plants classified as parasites. This research aims at determination and proximate analysis of parasite leaves on arum manis mango tree at Ketintang Madya No. 81, Surabaya. This study is true experimental research. It involves the determination of parasitic plants at LIPI Purwodadi and proximate analysis including analysis of ash content (Gravimetry), water content (Thermovolumetry), and total carbohydrate levels (Iodimetry). The result of determination is Macrosolen tetragonus (BI.) Miq and Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq. Meanwhile, the result of proximate analysis is Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq.
