In operation, the overall cost per unit of energy produced is similar to the cost for new coal and natural gas installations. However, the stochastic behaviour of wind speeds leads to significant disharmony between wind energy production and electricity demand. Wind generation suffers from an intermittent characteristics due to the own diurnal and seasonal patterns of the wind behaviour. Both reactive power and voltage control are important under varying operating conditions of wind farm. To optimize reactive power flow and to keep voltages in limit, an optimization method is proposed in this paper. The objective proposed is minimization of the voltage deviations of the load buses (Vdesired). The approach considers the reactive power limits of wind generators and co-ordinates the transformer taps. This algorithm has been tested under practically varying conditions simulated on a test system. The results are obtained on a system of 50-bus real life equivalent power network. In this paper a novel control scheme based on generalised instantaneous power theory for SHAPF is proposed. This control scheme is valid for balanced and unbalanced source conditions and is capable of balancing load voltage while mitigating supply current harmonics. The mathematical formulation of proposed control scheme with its applications to SHAPF is presented. The time, C-rate and SOC dependent electric circuit parameters of charge /discharge model are calculated using a polynomial equation. The charging system along with battery model is tested by simulation for a 2kW BCCS system and is able to transfer power in both the direction. DVC consists a power electronic controller, protecting critical loads from disturbances occurring in the supply system and regulating the load voltage against any sag in the supply. The proposed work is confined to balanced sinusoidal systems and unique in not using any transformations to generate the reference voltage. The steady state analysis is considered and the simulation results are presented in MATLAB / SIMULINK. A simple digital feedback control algorithm is formulated using the digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320LF2407. The reference voltage is determined based on the output voltage of suitably designed LEM voltage sensors, leading to simple hardware with reduced computation. Consequently, charging these batteries in a minimum amount of time whilst maintaining efficiency is crucial. The need for fast charging has brought up the method of Pulse Charging. However, present pulse charging methods which involve hard-switching, pose problems due to switching losses in the semiconductor devices. This paper presents a Fast Pulse Charging mechanism for High Capacity Pb-acid and Li-ion Batteries which minimizes switching losses by Soft Switching. The operation of the methodology is centered on the Fully Clamped Quasi-resonant DC Link Converter which strategically generates current pulses to charge the battery in both Constant Current (CC) and Constant Voltage (CV) phases. Switching losses are minimized by exploiting Zero Current Switching (ZCS), and the simulated results show that this can be achieved for higher switching frequencies further reducing the circuit size. Experiments were carried out by the research group for both conventional CC-CV method and for current pulse charging method. In this Paper new methodology has been proposed which uses tabu search algorithm along with joint color texture histogram to track object. Texture featurelike edges and corners are extracted using uniform linear binary pattern, which will help in increasing the robustness of the object to be tracked. After features are extracted battacharyya coefficient is calculated to measure similarity between target's raw feature in the previous frame and raw feature in present frame. This coefficient is used as objective function in tabu search algorithm framework. In tabu search, parameters like length of tabu list and radius of search region are chosen appropriately. The antenna has been designed to radiate at millimetre wave imaging frequency 94 GHz. Two substrates with relative permittivity εr=2.2(Teflon) and εr = 11.7(Silicon) are used for comparison. The bulk micromachining concept has been investigated to reduce the effect of surface waves due to high permittivity substrates. The measured return loss is 38 dB at 94 GHz with a 10 dB bandwidth of 8.5% and maximum gain of 8.6 dB for εr=2.2 substrate. For Micromachined Si substrate 10 dB bandwidth of 12.8% and maximum gain of 7.25 dB have been achieved. The respective E and H plane radiation patterns and the 3-D polar plots have been compared. A pivotal problem of web service composition is how to model input and output data dependencies of candidate web services to form composite web services efficiently. In a sequential web services invocation model, each web service needs to wait till the previous web service provides its output for the web service to be invoked, even if they don't have any inter dependency. Hence they are very poor in resource utilization. Peer to peer network provides certain interesting capabilities such as fault tolerance, high scalability which are not possible in traditional client/server network architecture. JXTA holds tremendous promise for the P2P world. It defines a set of protocols that developers can use to build almost any P2P application. For P2P applications which perform a lot of web service transactions, the use of sequential service invocation architecture may become a limiting factor. This research is made to introduce parallel service invocation model and web service composition model to JXTA. XML tree based notation is introduced to represent a composite web service in JXTA peer environment. In ELD the thermal generating units are to be allocated efficiently to reduce the fuel cost of operation in power system. This paper explains a new optimization technique Efficient Hybrid Simulated Annealing Algorithm (EHSA) for both convex and non convex ELD problem. The mutation operator of Differential evolution is used in particle swarm optimization to improve its performance and it is hybridized with simulated annealing to get EHSA technique. The proposed methodology is implemented for economic dispatch problem by considering the constraints such as generator constraints, transmission loss, ramp rate limits and prohibited operating zones. This method is experimented on a 6 units test system to get an optimized result.
