The precision of the shaft movement can be improved by employing a microstepping scheme in the stepper motor controller. Microstepping renders to advantages which include dynamics with high precision, accurate positioning, ripple reduction and attenuation of mechanical resonance. The present paper focuses on the hardware implementation of a high performance FPGA based algorithm developed using Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language (VHDL) for a microstepping scheme of a stepper motor for solar-tracking of photovoltaic panels in SBSP.","PeriodicalId":171993,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 7th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128907167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, it is sensible to provide extra protection for the motion information. The proposed system is implemented based on the existing redundant coding algorithm of H.264/AVC and it provides extra protection only for the motion information. The paper analyzes the effect of proposed error resilience technique on enhancement layer picture quality. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated under both error free and error prone Internet Protocol(IP) packet network environments. The proposed algorithm increases the bandwidth utilization with slight degradation in the primary picture quality at error free conditions, compared to the existing redundant coding method of H.264/AVC standard. Furthermore, the simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing redundant picture coding technique of scalable extension of H.264/AVC standard, under packet loss environments.","PeriodicalId":171993,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 7th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)","volume":"205 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132347227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The digital controller constantly monitors the ship hull potential using reference electrode and gives control signal to the power module so as to impress the correct amount of current on to the surface of ship-hull through the external anodes, thereby protecting the shiphull. This system provides an increased level of protection against corrosion as compared to the traditional methods. The compact power module is designed using a buck regulator IC and the controller uses PIC18F microcontroller which provides control signal to the power module based on the level of corrosion. The system is tested in simulation and experimentally verified.","PeriodicalId":171993,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 7th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131036961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This test ensures that only losses are drawn from the dc supply, while rated power is circulated between the two legs, thus minimising wastage of energy. A proportional-resonant (PR) controller based current control scheme is proposed here for the circulating power test setup in NPC inverter. Simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the controller design at various operating conditions. Results of thermal test on the inverter legs are presented at two different operating conditions.","PeriodicalId":171993,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 7th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129464190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This requires reliable detection of incumbent primary users at sufficiently low SNR. But sensing OFDM signals is particularly challenging as any inherent cyclostationarity is destroyed due to orthogonality of sub-carriers. Induced cyclostationarity can be used to introduce a controlled correlation in the message signal and produce cyclostationary features that can aid spectrum sensing. This paper derives an optimum maximum likelihood test statistic from first principles for detection of a cyclic prefixed OFDM (CP-OFDM) signal with induced cyclostationarity. It adopts a vector matrix model for the CP-OFDM signal in the AWGN scenario and empirically evaluates the detection probability through a Neyman-Pearson test. Simulation results show that a higher probability of detection can be achieved by using the proposed optimum detector for induced cyclostationarity as compared to energy detection and simple cyclic prefix detection. Also the performance scales with number of subcarriers and induced correlation.","PeriodicalId":171993,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 7th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121736509","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The traditional prediction based video coding architectures have high susceptibility for channel errors. Most of these techniques fail to deliver acceptable error recovery at the receiving end at high error rate transmission networks. However, the parity based Wyner-Ziv paradigm exhibits acceptable level of error recovery in highly error prone environments, at the expense of higher processing power. The proposed method attempts to integrate all of the advantages of these two techniques in order to mitigate the disadvantages associated with each and every technique while providing high error robustness to the transmitted bit stream.","PeriodicalId":171993,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 7th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127141818","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
