The use of this educational tool is designed to complement the teaching and learning. Using technology in teaching to promote learning beyond the classroom. The remote experimentation has been configured as an alternative to promote this learning supplement. Thus helping the new generation of students in theoretical and practical interaction. The 3D virtual worlds stand out as important tool to compose a virtual learning environment. Since the interactions that occur in these environments tend to be more dynamic and attractive.","PeriodicalId":166546,"journal":{"name":"2012 9th International Conference on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132636723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increased Internet bandwidth allowed many of them to be used remotely by distant users. The benefit of using a motorised linear stage in the laboratory test bench is that it represents various industrial applications for precise position control. This paper presents a novel comprehensive flexible motion platform that can be a base for remote experimentations with Brushless DC/Permanent Magnet Synchronous motors and drives, single/multiple axes flexible mechanical systems with friction/backlash uncertainties, inverted pendulums, etc. A LabVIEW software environment has been utilised to gain from the advantages of the virtual instrumentation representation and data acquisition capabilities.","PeriodicalId":166546,"journal":{"name":"2012 9th International Conference on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV)","volume":"IM-35 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121009933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

M2M - as a part of the Internet of Things (IoT) - is, at the present, one of the main drivers behind the growth in mobile subscribers, with all of the world's largest electronic communications operators now having several million M2M subscribers in their mobile networks. The M2M communication model is linked to the interaction between IoT endpoints, which represent - from the point of view of business process and end user applications - service end points that can be easily embedded in emerging service oriented enterprise systems and service delivery platforms. To capitalize on the projected expansion of the M2M market, both regulators and telecommunications operators (as well as service providers) will have to be agile and flexible. The challenge of embedding real world information into networks, services and applications through the convergence of domains like Technologies, Electronic Communications and Intelligence - enabled by context aware technologies, nanoelectronics, sensors and cloud computing - will bring about the development of novel services, innovative products, new interfaces and new applications.","PeriodicalId":166546,"journal":{"name":"2012 9th International Conference on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125320415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typically, Cyber-Physical applications include low profile computing components, such as sensors and actuators that must communicate to carry out complex tasks. They may be found in different applications domains e.g. intelligent buildings, industrial automation or critical infrastructure control. This kind of applications requires certain features such as autonomy, fault tolerance, energy efficiency or solving heterogeneity and configurability issues. However, managing the communication issues in this kind of applications can be relatively complex. In this scenario, middleware technologies can help developers in the design of the next generation of CPS. This work describes the design principles of a type of CPS that requires cooperation. More specifically, it presents a generic family of logical cooperation topologies capable of adapting dynamically to changes in the environment.","PeriodicalId":166546,"journal":{"name":"2012 9th International Conference on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV)","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126928558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approach that we present in the paper is based on a new tool that extends the features of Deeds, the design suite for digital circuits developed in our department. The FPGA extension allows students to compile a project generated with Deeds into an FPGA chip, reducing to a minimum the interaction with the FPGA-specific CAD. The tool is centered around a module that allows the student to associate all the input and output of the Deeds project to the devices and resources of an FPGA development board. A code generator will produce all the VHDL and script files needed by the CAD to compile the project and load it on the board for testing.","PeriodicalId":166546,"journal":{"name":"2012 9th International Conference on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121519414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
