It divides the operation process into three conditions, includes starting, cruising and parking, and assigns different weights to the three condition depend on the performance of comfort, energy saving and stopping accuracy, and uses fuzzy control algorithm on the two variables of displacement and velocity, at last gets the comprehensive control value. Then the control system sends the control values which would be used in the next cycle to calculate the actual curve module, so that the system can achieve automatic operation. In this paper, the writer simulated the system, and verified the speed control function of the ATO speed control module, through the analysis of test results that the system has reached the desired control effect.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"164 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120941135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the degree of automatic test generation and test coverage are big challenges in testing. Concerning these problems, two approaches are proposed to test the on-board module of an advanced satellite-based train control system model. The first approach is a model-based test generation technique based on Coloured Petri Nets (CPNs). The test model includes a behavioural module of the on-board subsystem model and two other modules for the application environments of the onboard subsystem model. The behavioural module and modules of application environments form a closed system. The expected output of a test case is extracted from a path of the reachability graph of the test model. Beside the CPN based approach for generating test cases, another model-based test generation technique is applied. This method uses a special Petri net dialect called Safe Place Transition Net with Attributes (SPENAT) to model the intended behaviour of the test object, the on-board subsystem model in this case. No environment of the test object has to be modelled, because of the possible input/output modelling with a SPENAT. Thereby, a SPENAT is an open system and its transitions can be triggered by external events with parameters (external data). The identification of suitable test cases is based on the construction of a (complete) prefix of the SPENAT model and the specified coverage criteria. With CPN based (closed system) and SPENAT based (open system) approaches, the verification of a railway operations control system model, such as the on-board subsystem model in this case, could be done by testing. At last, the results of both approaches are discussed and the advantages as well as disadvantages are illustrated.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128004368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is supported by satellite based localisation systems (GNSS) like GPS which already provide large economical and operational benefits by supporting applications in transport like passenger information, energy saving driving or tracking and tracing. The application of satellite based localisation systems for information purposes is a valuated contribution for a more efficient operation of trains. If satellite based localisation can be used as mean of safe localisation in train control systems, higher benefits according a safer and more reliable operation can be expected. To enable the usage in this application field, the certification of the localisation unit according the valid normative background of railways is necessary. Traditionally, a development of a product in railways starts with requirements which are the base for the product development and the following certification process. For the approval of an application of satellite based localisation for safety relevant purposes in railways, an already existing system like GPS shall be used as localisation device and therefore as important data source and needs therefore to be included into the certification process because of no generic certification of GLASS being already available. This paper can be the base for an approval process enabling the certification of satellite based localisation in railways.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"56 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132531291","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system does not rely on trackside hardware like balises or axle counters but is based solely on onboard sensors. It is composed out of drift-free velocity estimates of an eddy current sensor, a GNSS sensor, and a geodetic and topological track map. The paper develops an algorithm based on a probabilistic modeling that fuses the data of those sensors and determines position estimates robustly. We describe how we can treat ambiguities and stochastic uncertainty adequately and we introduce the concept of virtual balises that replace in software what is implemented by trackside balises in present train protection systems. The technique of onboard train localization is one important contribution to future train protection systems that are based on onboard sensors rather than trackside infrastructure and that are more flexible and less expensive than today's systems without loss of safety.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130121422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The railway track extraction is based on an edge detection using the width of the rolling pads. This edge detection scheme is then used as an input to the RANSAC algorithm to determine the model of the rails. The turnout detection scheme is based on the Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG) and Template Matching (TM). The results show (i) reliable performance for our railway track extraction scheme and (ii) a correction rate of 97.31 percent for the turnout detection scheme using a Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125248529","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A real-time headway control model is proposed to maintain headway regularity at bottlenecks in railway network by adjusting the travel time on each segment for each train. The adjustment of travel time is based on a consensus algorithm. In the proposed consensus algorithm, the control law is obtained by solving Ricatti equation. The minimum running time on segment is also considered. The computation time of the proposed method is analyzed and the analysis result shows that it can satisfy the requirement on real-time. The proposed model is tested and the consensus trend of headways can be observed through simulation. The simulation results also demonstrate that energy consumption canbe reduced by 0.1% at most and the delay time is reduced by 6.5% at least after using the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"8 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114031555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to overcome the disadvantages of fixed installations for positioning along the track, a modular on-board positioning system based on GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is being developed in the German national research project PiLoNav. GNSS receivers provide absolute positioning information, whenever satellite signals are available. The measurement accuracy can be augmented using relative positioning with respect to a reference station, e.g. with RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) algorithms. Additional on-board sensors are integrated into a multi-sensor framework and can be used to increase both accuracy and reliability of the position information. Alternative sensor configurations can be examined within this framework in order to identify a solution for a cost-efficient positioning system which delivers values with high accuracy and reliability. The obtained positioning information will be provided to different applications on-board with the aim to increase the level of automation in different train driving tasks.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123552088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the design of a satellite-based train collision early warning system, satellite navigation is involved to realize precise and reliable train locating with assistance from odometry and on-board inertial sensors. Due to the requirements of map assistance for one-dimensional track location results in the track coordinate, it is important to generate effective electronic track map for the TCEWS (Train Collision Early Warning System) equipments. According to system demands and operation scheme of TCEWS, the requirements and key issues for generating the electronic track map are analyzed in this paper. Based on the raw measurements of railway tracks, the methodologies of track curve reduction and track geometry determination are described with corresponding principles. Based on that, three indices are presented to analyze and evaluate the uncertainty from the map data processing. Results with practical track measurements and field tests in Wuhan-Yichang Railway are analyzed and discussed, which demonstrate the effectiveness and significance of the presented methods for TCEWS implementations.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114959069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The art of designing such a timetable relies on several performance indicators related to individual train paths (running and dwelling), dependencies between train paths (headways, turning, transferring, etc.), and integrated train paths (corridors, networks). These performance indicators include infrastructure occupation, timetable stability, feasibility, robustness, and resilience. The quality of the timetable design process can be evaluated by the manner in which these performance indicators are dealt with. This paper gives an overview of these performance indicators, their importance in the timetable design, and their interrelations, and proposes four timetabling levels that represent how well the timetable performance criteria are taken into account in the timetable design process of a specific railway.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"72 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122565048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
