The algorithm is based on a few statistical wireless channel parameters which are relatively easy to obtain. In this method, the performance of the wireless communication network can be dynamically evaluated via simulation while adjusting base stations' positions in a WYSWYG way. Also, transportation management information, such as the dynamic train speed, the online number of vehicles and the daily operating time, are taken into consideration in calculating the performance of wireless communication network. Further, a numerical multi-object optimization method is described to calculate the optimal network planning under different restrictions. Both the simulations performed in a lab using real wireless communication equipment and the project of Communication Based Train Control lately tested in Beijing metro line 8 have shown the effectiveness of this method.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133499787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The nonlinear dynamic equations of the coupled train-bridge-wind system are established, and solved with the Newmark numerical integration and direct interactive method, a corresponding computer code is written, too. The proposed framework is then applied to a schemed suspension bridge with the main span of 1120 m. The time histories of the bridge responses are simulated, when the train passing through with wind acting on both train and bridge. The results demonstrate that the geometric nonlinearities' effect is obviously. Both train-speed and wind velocity have great influence on the maximum deflection of the bridge.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134393599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Urban rail network has been identified as a complex network. In this paper, three kinds of centrality characteristics of an urban rail network have been analyzed. The degree-based index describes the possible travel activities that travelers can get at a station. The betweenness-based index describes the ability to control the travel activities of a station. The closeness-based index describes the independence or efficiency of a station. Three indices reflect the importance of a station from different viewpoints. Shanghai urban rail network is taken as the object to be analyzed, which consists of 12 lines and 296 stations. The analysis results about the importance of stations and the importance of lines are compared with their operational conditions. It indicates that the closeness centrality is the index most relevant to the operational condition of the line. The centrality characteristics analysis is useful for the urban transit management and operation affairs and is the basic for the network's vulnerability analysis which is important for the safety of urban rail transit system.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131703343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper will incorporate the train movement high-level model into the real-time conflict detection and train scheduling based on the principle of model predictive control (MPC). The proposed model describes the restrictive, synergistic and autonomous train movements with continuous accelerations and decelerations in the discrete time and continuous space. The sufficient modeling accuracy can be achieved if the adjustable parameters are properly configured for the MPC-based control and management of train operations. Consequently, the detection of block-section occupation conflicts considering the virtual junctions and the decision of feasible scheduling strategies possess the considerable confidence level and safety guaranty. The conflict detection and the operation optimization are implemented over the rolling horizon according to the real-time feedback information. The numerical results demonstrate the utility and rationality of the proposed model for the real-time safety justification and the scheduling strategy evaluation.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126384871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It theoretically proves that the CORDIC algorithm simulation based on Matlab which applies to produce 25Hz phase sensitive track circuit signal is feasible. By designing experimental platform based on the ARM processor, we produce two different phases of 25Hz sine wave signals outputting from the experiment which phases differ by 90 degrees. It provides the improvement of CORDIC algorithm by analyzing and comparing the arithmetic speeds of floating-point number and fixed-point number. Combining theoretical analysis and calculation, it shows that the improved CORDIC algorithm can achieve the maximum frequency of output signal. Experimental waveforms and experimental data show that the voltage of 25Hz phase sensitive track circuit based on the CORDIC algorithm has the ability of driving binary two track relay. In the end, this paper proves that the improvement of CORDIC algorithm is feasible to produce 25Hz sine signal.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115164515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, while deterministic and static (or single-shot) systems have reached a wide degree of dissemination, much is still to be done with regard to the online nature of the railway problems; and how to best take into account for uncertainty. We review approaches for four dynamic interrelated problems such as train path rescheduling (called also dispatching, rescheduling, disposition), crew rescheduling, rolling stock rescheduling, and the issue of determining updated passenger connection plans (delay management). Open challenges for the research are outlined.","PeriodicalId":163655,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Rail Transportation Proceedings","volume":"192 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133718446","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
