This work was conducted to study the antagonistic activity of endophytic bacteria recovered from sweet sorghum against Sclerotium rolfsii, Fusarium solani, Fusarium oxysporum, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides in vitro and evaluate the mechanisms of these fungal inhibitions. We selected 78 endophytic bacteria from the stem and root of sweet sorghum plants. They were tested for antagonist activity by direct confrontation method. Antifungal compound production and lytic enzyme activity were examined to determine their mechanisms in inhibiting fungal pathogens. Antifungal compound production was checked by detecting the presence of NRPS and PKS genes. Lytic enzyme activity of the bacteria was evaluated by their ability to produce cellulase, chitinase, and protease. Selected bacteria were identified using molecular analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene. 14 out of the 78 tested isolates showed antagonistic activity and two were able to inhibit all four tested fungal strains. Four bacteria, designated as ACIL1, ACNM4, ACNM6, and ATNM4, produced natural products via NRPS pathway, but only one bacterial extract, designated as ACNM4, showed fungal inhibition. Ten isolates were able to produce hydrolytic enzymes. Endophytic bacteria identified as Burkholderia were revealed to have potential as a biocontrol agent.","PeriodicalId":16255,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2021-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86294046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This situation is examined under two cases, Case I and II. The bias, MSE and minimum MSE are separately obtained for both cases. We compare the proposed estimators theoretically with the main estimators from the literature, such as Hansen and Hurwitz (1946), ratio, regression and exponential estimators. The conditions for which the proposed estimators are most efficient are obtained. Moreover, different empirical studies are conducted to support the theoretical results for both cases.","PeriodicalId":16255,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2021-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82202675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study was to modify an existing mathematical model of malaria disease by using a CTMC stochastic model. The investigation focused on the transition probability, the basic reproduction number (R0), the outbreak probability, the expected time required to reach a disease-free equilibrium, and the quasi-stationary probability distribution. The population system will experience disease outbreak if R0>1, whereas an outbreak will not occur in the population system if R0≤1. The probability that a mosquito bites an infectious human is denoted as k, while θ is associated with human immunity. Based on the numerical analysis conducted, k and θ have high a contribution to the distribution of malaria disease. This conclusion is based on their impact on the outbreak probability and the expected time required to reach a disease-free equilibrium.","PeriodicalId":16255,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79164707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We show that by any given separable infinite-dimensional Banach space, subspace-ergodic operators can be constructed. We demonstrate that an invertible operator T is subspace-ergodic if and only if T-1 is subspace-ergodic. We prove that the direct sum of two subspace-ergodic operators is subspace-ergodic and if the direct sum of two operators is subspace-ergodic, then each of them is subspace-ergodic. Also, we investigate relations between subspace-ergodic and subspace-mixing operators. For example, we show that if T is subspace-mixing and invertible, then Tn and T-n are subspace-ergodic for n∈ℕ.","PeriodicalId":16255,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73080652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method is based on the second-order MacCormack finite difference scheme and the solution is obtained by correcting first-order schemes. It is shown that the order of convergence is quadratic in the grid spacing for uniform grids when applied to problems with discontinuity. To illustrate some properties of the proposed scheme, numerical results applied to linear as well as non-linear problems are presented.","PeriodicalId":16255,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88247293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Observations with dust storm events were excluded, thus this hypothesis could be used to predict daily Tmax on any day during summers characterized by fair weather. Using mean annual daily temperature range, daily minimum temperature, and the trend of maximum temperature with wind speed, Tmax was forecasted and then compared to those recorded by meteorological instruments. To improve the accuracy of the hypothesis, daily forecast errors, bias, and mean absolute error were analyzed to detect their characteristics through calculating relative frequencies of occurrence. At the end of this analysis, a value of (-0.45ºC) was added to the hypothesis as a bias term.","PeriodicalId":16255,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73745649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rangkuti’s variational iteration method (RVIM) is recalled. This paper makes four contributions. The first one is to provide a successive approximation method (SAM) for solving the considered model. The second one is to show that SAM and RVIM are identical. Thirdly, a modification of RVIM is proposed. Fourthly, it is shown that the modification leads to an improvement of the accuracy of the method. Both RVIM and the improved version are quite accurate for short time periods. However, the improved version is more accurate and is able to provide more realistic explicit solutions to the model.","PeriodicalId":16255,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72935511","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Exploratory Data Analytic (EDA) approach was applied to compare the cosmic ray fluctuations in both countries. The time series plot of the monthly cosmic rays showed relatively flatter counts in Pakistan than in China. The cosmic ray data for the years 1984 to 1993 fell within Solar Cycle 22, which lasted from 1986 to 1996, with its maximum phase in 1989 to 1991. The cosmic radiation varies between the atmospheric regions of Pakistan and China due to modulations in intensity that are accessible accordingly. It can be explained by purely astrophysical phenomena: (1) the source of emission of cosmic radiation may be different, (2) the rate at which emanation takes place depends on bursts of deep space dynamical objects from their sources that may be affected by solar wind and other solar radiations. Therefore, modulations in intensity are not only due to different geophysical locations. This study will help government organizations to predict and forecast cosmic rays values.","PeriodicalId":16255,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82074086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The etiology of RAS is still unclear but it is considered to be multifactorial, including imbalanced nutrition intake and allergic conditions such as atopy. The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences and correlation between the serum level of IL-6, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and cortisol in RAS patients. Our study was cross-sectional and used a consecutive sampling method. There were significant differences of IL-6 and ROS levels in all groups (p = 0.000, p = 0.049 respectively) and a significant correlation between cortisol and ROS in the RAS group without atopy (r = -0.985, p = 0.015). Serum IL-6 and ROS measurement may be used for detecting RAS caused by malnutrition or atopy but not cortisol for patients without psychological stress detected. This is consistent with the results of a very strong correlation with a negative value between cortisol and ROS in RAS without atopy.","PeriodicalId":16255,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78842330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
