Thirty eight samples, consisting of 10 CFL in each sample were selected for practical test for 15,000 hours operation to determine the lamps' performance. New comparison indices were introduced to rank the CFLs depending on the power system and consumers requirements. A new actual simulation model in PSIM computer simulation program for CFL is used to study the power quality of the power system for different loading of the CFLs. The actual simulation model interacts with the variation of the supply voltage due to voltage drop in the series impedance of the feeders and transformers. Simulation results show that the power quality of the distribution system is affected by a high CFLs loads.","PeriodicalId":162453,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125577665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main scope of the research was design and implementation of the mobile platform, allowing the WSN nodes to autonomously change its location in active way. The designed platform had been integrated with sensor node and provided with a mechanisms allowing for remote control node's position. However we assume the lack of such control in the future. Our goal is to construct a small unit, called RoboMote, equipped with sensors that will move around and communicate in response to environmental changes. The prototype research process considers hardware and software issues including project and implementation phase. The constructed prototype spreads possibilities for developing, implementing and benchmarking solutions dedicated for ad-hoc mobile wireless sensor networks. The article presents the results of the first stage of the research.","PeriodicalId":162453,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126489734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the NCS can be vulnerable to various network attacks when the network used is insecure (e.g., Internet). Thus, secure NCS need to have embedded security mechanism to ensure its security operating requirements, which may sacrifice its performance due to limited system resources. This paper addresses the trade-off between NCS security and its real-time performance and use a secured networked DC motor system for illustration. This paper will present a trade-off model for system dynamic performance and system security. This model can be used to adapt security configurations to provide sufficient protection and satisfy real-time dynamic performance requirements of the NCS simultaneously. The construction of this model includes the development of a set of metrics to quantitatively measure the performance and security levels of NCS and the development of a trade-off objective function incorporating performance and security. A Simulink based test-bed implemented to control the speed of the DC motor is used to illustrate the effectiveness of this model.","PeriodicalId":162453,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126651839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Charge pumps are inductorless DC-DC converters that are small size and high integration. The quality of the charge pump greatly depends on the effectiveness of switches to turn on and off at the designated clock phases. However, to date, no analysis has been carried out on the overall performance of charge pumps based on switch components in practice. This work demonstrates the characteristics of transistors as charge transfer switches and their effects on the performance of a charge pump. Three most common charge pump topologies are evaluated in terms of voltage drop due to on-resistance and charge loss per switch. Simulations are performed in 0.35µm Austriamicrosystems (AMS) technology for Dickson, Voltage Doubler and Makowski charge pump topologies in steady and dynamic states. In addition, the effect of switch parameters for different charge pump topologies are compared and analysed. We demonstrate that the Makowski charge pump is the topology for future green mobile technology.","PeriodicalId":162453,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132358393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of future converters is to increase the AC amplitude to higher levels (up to 300V) in order to decrease the level of currents, while keeping the same transferred power. Voltage source inverters are generally used in order to drive electric motors. Multilevel voltage source inverters, namely cascaded H-bridge, are under investigation in this paper, in their application to electrical vehicles. This paper presents a numerical and experimental analysis of cascaded H-bridge inverters, and focuses on an optimal modulation strategy. The expected benefits of cascaded inverters for electric vehicle are a better management of battery cells, improved output voltage waveforms, spread thermal losses sources and a better operation in fault modes.","PeriodicalId":162453,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"59 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126978730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we compare the performance of HACO algorithm with the modified Genetic Algorithm (GA) for global path planning. The HACO algorithm differs from the Conventional ACO (CACO) algorithm for the path planning in three respects. First, we proposed modified Transition Probability Function (TPF) and Pheromone Update Rule (PUR). Second, we newly introduced the Path Crossover (PC) in the PUR. Finally, we also proposed the first introduction of the heterogeneous ants in the ACO algorithm. The theoretical framework is based on the closed-loop stability testing in the context of coprime factor uncertainty for the controller, and it makes use of the small gain theorem for discrete-time systems. Bounds on the gain of the systems involved in the stability analysis are found from nonparametric models in frequency domain. The majority of shunt active power filter control methods which have been presented require a complex and sophisticated mathematical model, especially for the tuning of the PI controllers. To simplify and improve the shunt active filter control system, fuzzy logic theory is applied. In this paper, by the way of controlling the capacitor voltage of the dc bus a fuzzy logic algorithm is implemented. One such algorithm is also implemented to control the output current of the inverter. The performance of the capacitor voltage fuzzy logic control system was investigated, and the improvement of the dynamic response of the fuzzy controller compared to the conventional PI controller became evident. For the reduction of the grid current THDi index, a fuzzy logic hysteresis current controller is investigated. In order to improve the performance of shunt active filter under non ideal grid voltages, a modified version of the p-q theory is proposed. The simulation results are presented and discussed showing the advantages of fuzzy logic theory in the dc bus voltage control and current control.","PeriodicalId":162453,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics","volume":"200 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133734850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
