Artificial insemination is a scientific reproductive technology that is popular in the dairy industry. Efficient heat detection management and correct insemination timing are crucial issues that play pivotal roles in reproduction. The timing of insemination must ensure that the fertile life of sperms and eggs are synchronized. There are many reasons for the failure of artificial insemination or natural service. A sample survey of cattle owners shows that large percentage of the owners miss heat period and except some kind of arrangement that intimates them regarding heat period. Challenge is to intimate the concerned persons on time regarding the heat period. This paper focuses on the information needed and how communication technology can be helpful to intimate concerned people about heat period and status of of the cattle. Based on facts of the survey we proposed the information and communication based model to manage heat period, insemination and fertility. We have developed software as a part of the model. This low cost solution can be helpful to improve the fertility of the dairy herd and economy of owners.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126322902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the fast and successful approaches in this field was presented by Viola. Low speed, insensitive to faces with partially missing parts and false detection are open problems of this approach. In this paper, skin mask is used to limit the candidate place and scale for detecting face which makes final algorithm runs 4 times faster. Moreover, training this approach to detect eyes and nose makes possible face detecting only with two eyes or one eye and nose, in addition to decrease false detection rate rather than viola approach. Implementing of this approach shows, the presented algorithm could reduce false negative from 10 percent to 2.4 and reduce false positive from 4.4 percent to 2.4.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130199439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The methods used for detection and isolation of faulty components are gas path analysis (GPA) and extended Kalman filter (EKF). In this paper, the main health parameter degradations namely efficiency and flow capacity of the compressor and turbine sections are estimated and the responsible physical faults such as fouling and erosion are found. Two approaches are tested: The single-operating point and the multi-operating point. Simulation results show good estimations for diagnosis of most of the important degradations in the compressor and turbine sections for the single-point and improved estimations for the multi-point approach.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134421352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the purpose of throwing objects in direct hits into a capturing device, the trajectory has to meet it in a predefined position. Therefore, the corresponding trajectory has to be simulated and appropriately controlled by the required launch angle as well as launch velocity. This paper presents a holistic approach for the modeling of trajectories for cylinder-shaped objects. The calculation of the position and orientation of the cylinder for each point of time during the flight is enabled by this approach. Furthermore, an algorithm for the determination of the launch parameters in order to meet the capturing device in a predefined position as well as angular orientation is presented.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132873858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Efficiency and reliability is crucial in such applications. Hence, accurate modeling and control system designing is necessary. This paper first presents a nonlinear modeling of a single-shaft gas turbine in power generation application. This model is developed by solving differential and algebraic thermo dynamic equations and using turbine's component maps. Using this complex model, a number of linear models is identified around turbine's operating points. Effect of frequency and ambient condition is also considered in the models. Comparing these models, reduced number of linear models is selected to cover turbine's entire operating range. These models are validated using further identification tests and nonlinear model responses.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132929805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A shifting process in digital data is very important to make sure the translated data is shifted correctly into register without missing any data. The design is focusing on the digital phase shifter where it is usually comprised in direct digital synthesizer (DDS) which then utilizes every digitized waveform signals stored in the register. The digitized signals will then shifted according to the designed algorithm so that every data will follows its sequence and shifted as desired. Algorithm of the design is written in VHDL programming Language which then simulated using Modelsim SE 6.3f. The simulated algorithm generates a waveform that shows the data are shifted accordingly by mapping the entire written block diagram. Using XILINX ISE simulator will then synthesized the block diagram of the whole digital phase shifter design utilization. The research undertaken compares the visual effect of applying disorder to an animated sequence as a simple 2D image space post-effect process, with a new 3D world space approach. Much research has been undertaken to establish how we perceive relative space when viewing 2D images. Extracting accurate 3D depth cues from 2D images can be difficult to assimilate, especially when camera position/settings are unknown. In optics, a sense of depth is achieved through the focal length. Converging light appears sharp and ‘in focus’, whilst poorly converging light appears blurry and ‘out of focus’. However, adding blur to an image has its drawbacks. More picture information is destroyed when the pixels of an image are blurred (averaged together), compared to when they are ‘scrambled’. It has been argued that whilst both images lose information, the scrambled image contains more information than the blurred one. Initial results in 2D screenspace identify key areas where local disorder decreases depth perception and creates visual confusion when applied to animated sequences. This paper proposes an alternative approach to control the disorder, which overcomes these problems when applied to the moving image.
