We test to see whether models derived from Twitter data can corroborate industry sales figures and we employ text analysis software developed to assess emotional, cognitive, and structural components of text to analyze the twitter dataset to harvest knowledge about consumer sentiment on different wine varietals. A multi-knowledge based approach is proposed using, Self-Organizing Maps and domain expertise in order to establish view the social network conversation. We show that it is possible to both confirm previously known knowledge and find novel information through the proposed methodology.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"210 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122632812","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Active Learning Method (ALM) is a fuzzy modeling method which exploits Ink Drop Spread (IDS) as its main engine. IDS is a universal fuzzy modeling technique which is very similar to the way human brain processes different phenomena. The ALM system is trained by the data obtained from Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) controller. LQR uses an optimal control approach which under certain conditions guarantees robustness. Instead of an expert’s knowledge, the LQR controller output is used as a priori knowledge to train ALM. The application of ALM method is then investigated in conditions where some states of system like the upper angle of the pendulum and its angular velocity are not available and the proposed system is not observable. The fact of practical non-observablity of this system obliges us to use an open-loop state estimator to estimate the missing states. Instead, a novel state estimator using ALM is introduced which shows practical superiority in estimation.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130457376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The simulation model presented here involves both traditional and electronic procurement forms. The comparison between the two approaches will point out the benefits of e-Procurement in terms of labor costs, length of time and number of employers required. The process representation model can also be used to carry on what-if analysis, in order to detect critical points and simulate alternative scenarios.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129213429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Jobs arrive with mean rate lambda and a general arrival distribution. Upon arrival, a job forks into K tasks. Task k, k = 1, 2, K, is assigned to the kth queuing system, which is a first-in-first-out server with a general service distribution and an infinite capacity queue. A job leaves the HFJ system as soon as all its tasks complete their service. In other words, tasks corresponding to the same job are joined before departing the HFJ system. We use the huge-scale simulation to analyze the tightness and the trend of a mean response time hybrid solution [1] as K grows. The hybrid solution is consistent for huge-scale systems with max absolute offset.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"354 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121625674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The range of applicability of the model has been found, it is based on the accuracy of the measurements of packet delays. We have also derived a formula for the upper limit of the bandwidth. Computer simulations have been performed and the relationship between the measurement error of the available bandwidth and the number of measurements has been found. Experimental verification with the use of the RIPE test box measuring system has shown that this method has advantages over existing measurement techniques. The Path load utility has been chosen as an alternative technique of measurement, and to ensure that reliable result statistics have been withdrawn by the SNMP agent directly from the router.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124332519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
