To achieve this, it is essential to generate a multichannel for transferring legitimate data that can take information from any of the identified customer sources and merge this into multiple strata and colonize the single prospect. CRM can interact within a company in various ways and the internet does have the ability to create a flow in interactions and transactions. Besides, today the experience element plays a significant function in boosting a company's prospects. Moreover, the internet provides connectedness among customers' touch points. So, it is best to integrate Customer relationship management with the internet first to identify various multi-channels. A multichannel strategy is one that provides abundant customer touch-points and makes the web site more friendly for employees and customers. Multichannel consolidation is deemed as one of the most versatile procedures in CRM strategy enhancement. In this paper we aim at drawing a conceptual framework to illustrate, how to plan for sale and after sale service, recognize the problems; catch customer touch points and deliver the best experience for the customers. Eventually, using multichannel customer management, the company can consolidate the data and assess it more efficiently. Using questionnaires and 5-point liket scale, we assess the data.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"162 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127410993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Decisions related to all these elements should be carefully studied in order for a company to achieve its marketing and corporate objectives. This paper focuses on the promotional instruments and proposes a model that optimally allocates the promotional budget. The model can be used in computerized decision support system to help practitioners. A number of promotional instruments used to reach the public for messages about a product are considered in the model. In spite of the fact that the quantity of the product to be sold is previously forecasted, it is when assuring the image of the brand that the company can sell the forecasted quantity or even more. Otherwise, the company can lose a part of the market share that goes to the competition.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126083992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In case of STB the hardware is aware of which channel it is tuned to and so its possible to show EPG information easily. But in India where, still 93% of total TV viewers are watching TV from Radio Frequency fed cable, it becomes a challenge to provide EPG, this is because the service providers do not telecast a particular channel in a particular frequency. So in such a scenario, it is not possible to provide EPG easily. In this paper authors have proposed a system that facilitates showing EPG information even in case of RF fed TV. This works by recognizing the channel by identifying the logo of the channel. After the channel is identified, the EPG is obtained by looking up the URL of the particular channel. The EPG is obtained from the URL. The EPG is finally rendered on the video of the channel. The system is developed on a DSP platform that can recognize the channel within a delay of 2 seconds after changing the channel. The system works with 100% accuracy for the channels whose channel logos never disappear from the video. The system cannot work when there is no channel logo in the video which sometimes happen in India when advertisements are shown.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131911281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We present the results of an extensive study to understand which applications and protocols are used for video communication over the Internet. We obtained an extensive list of sources of video content around the Internet (e.g., Netflix, Hulu, and You Tube) and used Wire shark to capture packets containing video from these various video sources. We found Adobe Flash to be, by far, the most common application used to deliver video over the Internet. Adobe Flash uses its own proprietary application layer protocol called RTMP. We used the results of this study to develop analytical models for the network protocol overhead added to video that is communicated over the Internet. In addition, we have developed simulation tools that we are making available to the research community.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128302613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The code becomes more and more complex and drifts away from its original design. One of the first steps in maintaining an object-oriented system is to assess its design, repeatedly throughout the system development lifecycle. Early identification of those parts of the system that need to be reviewed, ensures a more stable design of the successive versions, hindering errors propagation. The main objective of this research is to define a conceptual framework concerning object-oriented design (OOD) assessment. The proposed evaluation methodology is based on metrics and uses fuzzy analysis for the interpretation of the obtained measurement results. This work could pave the way for providing a complex evaluation methodology through the four layers of abstraction: a meta-model for OOD assessment, defined in a standard terminology and formalism using algebraic knowledge, a library of OOD metrics definitions, setting the assessment objectives and a method for the assessment results interpretation. Furthermore, the proposed model is general and scalable and allows other properties and interactions to be added.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130835542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the proliferation of communication tech- nology, instead of conventional paper based banking system, sms-banking and m-banking are getting immense popularity. However, regardless of nature of transactions, maintaining security is a major concern in this sector. In this paper, a short message service (SMS) based m-banking protocol under GSM technology is presented. In view of ensuring a high level of security during client authentication and data transmission, in the proposed SMS-banking scheme, a digital watermarking technique is introduced. The proposed scheme, because of wide- spread use of cellular phones, offers an ease of implementation in conjunction with a high level of security.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132860976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Actually, however, topological difference between P2P network and underlying physical network (Internet network) is creating inefficient use of the physical network resources. To this problem, we propose P2P download control methods using router network parameters (e.g., number of router-hops, TCP window size and RTT) that can achieve effective use of router network resources, thus relieve ISP traffic burden and improve the response time of P2P applications. To evaluate proposed methods, network topologies of P2P network and router network were established and simulation was performed. As for network topology, BA model is used for P2P network and modified FKP model is used for router network. Simulation results revealed the effectiveness of the proposed control methods.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115774425","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper redundancy allocation of multi-state series-parallel system is considered which in each of the subsystems at least k-out-of-n components must be working properly since the whole system continues it’s working. The goal is finding the optimum combination which satisfies required reliability of the system with the minimum cost. Thus the number of component in each subsystems and the number of stand-by components must be found. Since this problem is non-convex which is difficult to solve by traditional optimization techniques, Universal Generation Function (UGF) technique and Genetic Algorithm (GA) is employed to solve the problem. Finally a case study is considered to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123968626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The number of accidents on roads has shot up greatly with the increase in vehicle traffic, so has the race to build a safer and much more reliable system for traffic control and management. Traffic management rides on an extremely balanced equation. A change in timing of Traffic lights has adverse effects on traffic. A change applied too early may lead to congestion on other roads and a change too late may wreak havoc, long traffic jams, instance of road rage, accidents etc. The ideal automated traffic signal is yet to be built. This report presents an adaptive traffic control system where the traffic load is continuously measured by sensors connected to a micro controller-based system. The traffic lights of an area are interconnected with a communication network through which traffic load and synchronization information is exchanged. As a result, the duration of each traffic light cycle changes dynamically. This means that the timing of the traffic light changes according to the load, the side with the greatest load is given time wise priority.","PeriodicalId":161746,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fourth UKSim European Symposium on Computer Modeling and Simulation","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122615831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
