Ricordel, Victor Truong","doi":"10.21747/9789898969217/paraa18","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21747/9789898969217/paraa18","url":null,"abstract":"Résumé Suite aux études menées au Canada, les recherches de Joan Netten et Claude Germain ont confirmé que l’approche neurolinguistique (ANL) était une nouvelle approche efficace et motivante pour l’acquisition du français langue étrangère. Effectivement, cette approche conçue en s’appuyant essentiellement sur la théorie neurolinguistique du bilinguisme de Michel Paradis, c’est-à-dire que le savoir explicite ne se transforme pas en compétence implicite puisque ces deux concepts relèvent de deux mémoires distinctes a été mise en place dans des environnements d’apprentissage variés. Ainsi, une étude comparative a permis de démontrer que l’implantation de l’ANL en milieu universitaire chinois en 2010 fonctionne également auprès d’un public adulte avec une culture d’apprentissage très académique. Ceci dit, en ANL la classe devient un lieu d’échanges authentiques, proches de la réalité du groupe afin que surgissent le désir et le plaisir de communiquer. {"title":"The inter-relatedness of emotion, language learning and identity","authors":"V. Tavares","doi":"10.21747/9789898969217/paraa22","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21747/9789898969217/paraa22","url":null,"abstract":"This paper explores the role of emotions and corporeal sensations in the experiences of foreign language learning and identity of one Canadian adult learner of Portuguese. Emotions in second and foreign language learning have become the subject of growing interest since other perspectives other than the cognitive have been included in Second Language Acquisition (SLA) research. Yet, much of the recent literature on the relationship of emotions, foreign language learning, and identity continues to reflect the experiences of English language learners, and has also paid little attention to whether learners develop and include an awareness of and an attention to the contribution of corporeal sensations to their experiences of foreign language learning, and identity enactment in the foreign language. This paper draws on concepts of sociocultural theory and construals-of-the-self to understand the learner’s perceptions of her experiences learning Portuguese, and of her identity-related experiences in this language with a focus on emotions. Findings suggest that the learner’s conceptualisations of her target identity were imagined and constructed also through corporeal sensations that she experienced and regarded as being characteristic of her target language identities. In addition, a connection between past subjective experiences and the learner’s perceptions of foreign language identities was also found. With this understanding, this paper calls for future research to expand on this attention to these emotional aspects that, in addition to linguistic ones, may constitute learners’ aspirations and ideas of target language identities. L’étude a pour but d’observer dans quelle mesure l’écriture collaborative peut avoir un impact sur l’apprentissage et sur la motivation des étudiants. Le logiciel FramaPad a été utilisé avec des étudiants des deux pays, les uns apprenant la langue des autres. L’approche qualitative a été choisie et les données ont été recueillies par un questionnaire que les participants ont rempli. Les données ont ensuite été analysées selon les techniques d’analyse de contenu. Rogers explains that in providing a positive learning environment by being emotionally involved, teachers invite their students to learn better and be more motivated. The empathetic attitude of teachers is one of the conditions that motivates students, but it is not enough (Viau, 2009). Relying on the neuroscientific enaction paradigm (Varela, 1993; 1996), Aden (2017) studies the pedagogical value of drama in language learning and shows how emotions, body and mind all contribute to language acquisition through the emergence of empathy among the participants. Further research on the cognitive development of language learners in higher education shows that drama facilitates the development of linguistic and general competences.
