With this method the PSF is obtained by analyzing the image of a circular chart taken by the camera to be characterized. The main advantage over the existing methods is the capability to measure PSFs of various shapes not only circular. Single Pixel Camera is one of the imaging systems that could benefit of this method since depending of the light wavelength, the PSF can take either the shape of the aperture or that of Spatial Light Modulator cell. Other advantages of our methods are the capability to correct shear effects of the chart image and to infer the PSF from projections by Inverse Radon Transform. This last feature gives the possibility to also restore the images taken by the camera and not only to characterize the camera. The method is tested on synthetic images of the chart in the case of four different PSF shapes: circular, square, hexagonal and rounded square. The results show a correct estimation of the PSF shape and well restored images obtained by deconvolution with the measured PSF.","PeriodicalId":158890,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Communications (COMM)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132875335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Seeing the advances in technology made during the last decade and how technology is in every part of our everyday lives, the rise of the IoT feels natural. Security and privacy are two extremely important topics in anything technology and communications related. However, the Internet of Things with its high complexity and large number of interconnected components adds to the challenge. Furthermore, this year researchers worldwide are faced with an unprecedented issue: a new European regulation - The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - a law aimed to give back the power over the personal data to the people. It is also a law that sets extremely high standards for privacy in all areas. Many are concerned that the IoT paradigm is at risk, as it seems almost impossible to ensure the level of privacy and security required by the GDPR. This article presents a survey of the most important privacy solutions currently available and analyzes how these solutions can be used in the current scenario.","PeriodicalId":158890,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Communications (COMM)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133164799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a Massive MIMO system that uses orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) and investigates the performances achieved when the transmission is made over a Rayleigh fading channel, with different modulation schemes involved. The performance of the system will be evaluated depending on the number of the antennas at the base station (BS) and the number of active users, the main performance indicator used being the Bit Error Rate (BER).","PeriodicalId":158890,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Communications (COMM)","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114444100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But the lack of implementations that can be used in practice has reduced its impact. This paper introduces a new and original implementation of the Gamma formalism based on set rewriting, that has the potential of reviving it from a practical point of view. The multisets are the basic data structure used by the Gamma formalism, so the quality of any implementation for this formalism depends on the quality of the implementation of the multiset. Set rewriting enables term rewriting on all the terms of a given set in a single rewriting operation, thus executing several rewriting operations in parallel and at the cost of a single one. The use of set rewriting to implement the multiset and the actions of the Gamma formalism seems to be a natural match, as they are both based on non -deterministic, parallel processing. The paper describes the new implementation and presents a proof of concept for the Gamma program for sorting numbers.","PeriodicalId":158890,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Communications (COMM)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123890754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The performance degradation appears because the shorter the utterance, the less reliable the extracted i-vector is, and because the total variability covariance matrix and the underlying PLDA matrices need a significant amount of data to be robustly estimated. Considering the “MIT Mobile Device Speaker Verification Corpus” (MIT-MDSVC) as a representative dataset for robust speaker verification tasks on limited amount of training data, this paper investigates which configuration and which parameters lead to the best performance of an i-vectors/PLDA based speaker verification. The i-vectors/PLDA based system achieved good performance only when the total variability matrix and the underlying PLDA matrices were trained with data belonging to the enrolled speakers. This way of training means that the system should be fully retrained when new enrolled speakers were added. The performance of the system was more sensitive to the amount of training data of the underlying PLDA matrices than to the amount of training data of the total variability matrix. Overall, the Equal Error Rate performance of the i-vectors/PLDA based system was around 1% below the performance of a GMM-UBM system on the chosen dataset. The paper presents at the end some preliminary experiments in which the utterances comprised in the CSTR VCTK corpus were used besides utterances from MIT-MDSVC for training the total variability covariance matrix and the underlying PLDA matrices.","PeriodicalId":158890,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Communications (COMM)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122369666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although NLP schemes show better performance, their complexity is high. Alternatively, hybrid schemes can be used to reduce complexity, however their performance is conditioned by an accurate channel estimation.","PeriodicalId":158890,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Communications (COMM)","volume":"100 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124847250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, a USRP B200 SDR is used to setup extensive measurements of the output transmit power over its covered frequency range and the power variation with frequency along with its dependence on the transmit gain parameter in the USRP hardware driver (UHD) is evaluated. A discussion of the possible causes that lead to variations in the transmit power is also presented.","PeriodicalId":158890,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Communications (COMM)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130509528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
