Since digital video is stored and/or transmitted in coded form, we utilize the motion vector field (MVF) for foreground/background separation and apply an image based contrast model for further performance improvement. The performance of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated by experimental results.","PeriodicalId":154986,"journal":{"name":"2009 Digest of Technical Papers International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128926154","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A subjective Video Quality Metric (VQM) is used with an Evolution Strategy algorithm, which is capable of identifying the best possible quantization parameters for each frame/macroblock to encode the video sequence such that it would maximize the subjective quality of the entire 2D/3D video sequence subjected to the target bit rate. Simulation results show that up to 35% bit rate saving can be achieved with the proposed technique at the same video quality.","PeriodicalId":154986,"journal":{"name":"2009 Digest of Technical Papers International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129213989","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the existing researches employ rule-based fault processing mechanism, but those works depend on the static characteristics of rules for a specific home environment. Therefore, we focus on a fault estimating and learning mechanism that autonomously produces a fault diagnosis rule and predicts an expected fault pattern in the mutually different home environment. For this, the proposed AFM extracts the home network information with a set of training data using the 5W1H (Who, What, When, Where, Why, How) based contexts to autonomously produce a new fault diagnosis rule. The fault pattern with high correlations can then be predicted for the current home network operation pattern.","PeriodicalId":154986,"journal":{"name":"2009 Digest of Technical Papers International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128507828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although diversity techniques are effective scheme to improve reception characteristics under multi-path channels, the geometrically small size of one segment ISDB-T receivers restricts diversity gain under insufficient level. In order to improve this problem, cooperative reception between several receivers using a dedicated communication network is effective. In this paper, an efficient scheme of cooperative reception is proposed.","PeriodicalId":154986,"journal":{"name":"2009 Digest of Technical Papers International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114773535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Motion vector of each pixel is obtained by hierarchical motion estimation which is reducing template block size from 8×8, to 4×4 and to 2×2. With obtained motion vector, filter weight is adjusted adaptively according to the correlation between the related pixels which is determined considering not only pixel similarity to temporal axis but also the neighboring pixel variation in spatial domain.","PeriodicalId":154986,"journal":{"name":"2009 Digest of Technical Papers International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114793805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
