The use of coarse QP values can lead unstable video quality among macroblocks and frames. In this paper, we propose macroblock layer rate control algorithm with adaptive QP decision and header bits length prediction method. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides an improved video quality and generates the coding bits close to the target bits.","PeriodicalId":154986,"journal":{"name":"2009 Digest of Technical Papers International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126576357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem could occur at a certain situation which an input signal level from an antenna is much lower than one another. To solve the problem, in our diversity system, we introduce a new measure for deciding if a diversity gain is big enough. We have developed a diversity LSI and evaluate the proposed method. The experimental result shows our method improves the performance, in the case when input signal levels are very different.","PeriodicalId":154986,"journal":{"name":"2009 Digest of Technical Papers International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126844090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The AT-DMB system adopts hierarchical 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation to ensure backward-compatibility with the traditional T-DMB systems, which use differential quadrature phase shift keying for subcarrier modulation, and to support higher transmission rate. Due to the hierarchical modulation, the conventional T-DMB signal and the additional signal have different error rate at same signal to noise ratio. The proposed method exploits the reliability difference and weighs the decided symbols according to the reliability of them to improve the accuracy of the channel estimates. Through computer simulations, we verify the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":154986,"journal":{"name":"2009 Digest of Technical Papers International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":"236 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127253578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, existing systems can cause errors according to size and quality of fingerprint images that are read only with a use of minutiae. This paper enhanced security performance by decreasing False Match Rate(FMR) through a fingerprint verification system for which both minutiae and ridge information are used. As a result, we found that ZeroFMR decreased from 29% to 9.9%, which indicates enhanced security performance.","PeriodicalId":154986,"journal":{"name":"2009 Digest of Technical Papers International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133779490","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
