The aim of this retrospective study was to describe the demographic and clinical profile of children treated following exposure to camphor. Methods: A Retrospective descriptive study of children admitted with camphor poisoning from June 2018 to January 2020. The collected data were entered into a tabulated form, and descriptive statistical methods were used. Results: Of the 60 children studied, Male infants and toddlers were the most common victims of camphor induced illness. Oral route was the most common mode of exposure. The most common presenting symptom was symptomatic seizures of the generalised tonic clonic type (91.8%) followed by vomiting and fever. Most patients had seizure onset within 30 minutes of exposure that lasted for 5 to 10 minutes. 39% of those treated, required only a Benzodiazepines. Conclusion: Camphor causes neurological symptoms in young children and history of camphor exposure needs to be excluded in all cases of seizures. Ironically, most of them have not required long term AEDs on follow up. Neuroimaging done has no added benefit in prognosticating long term outcome in such children.","PeriodicalId":154960,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Angiotherapy","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124979793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike glaucoma in adults, which is notoriously difficult to detect since there are no symptoms, glaucoma in children does present with signs and symptoms which can be detected by paediatricians and even parents, who are usually the first contacts of these children. Methodology: A detailed evaluation under general or local anaesthesia is advisable to establish the diagnosis and plan for management. Medical therapy has a limited role and surgery remains the primary therapeutic modality. While goniotomy or trabeculotomy ab externo is valuable in the management of congenital glaucoma, primary combined trabeculotomy–trabeculectomy offers the best hope of success in advanced cases. Result: The childhood glaucoma research network (CGRN) has provided a new classification system of paediatric glaucoma’s. Careful diagnosis and timely intervention leads to the most promising outcome and gives these children a long morbidity free life. Early diagnosis, prompt therapeutic intervention and proper refractive correction are keys to success. Conclusion: Management of residual vision and visual rehabilitation should be an integral part of the management of children with low vision and lifelong follow-up is a must.","PeriodicalId":154960,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Angiotherapy","volume":"2011 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114869425","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Salivary DNA is a robust marker for diagnostics and the quality of DNA yield obtained from saliva is comparable with blood and urine and can be used for genetic and molecular analysis. DNA and RNA from saliva could be used as genetic biomarkers for oral squamous cell carcinoma and other diseases. Nowadays, noncoding RNAs such as microRNAs (miRNAs), small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs), circular RNA (circRNA), and piwi-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) found in saliva are considered as potential disease markers. The small size and stability of these molecules in various body fluids including saliva makes them advantageous in molecular diagnostics. Furthermore, salivary 8-OHdG can be used as a biomarker of DNA damage to assess disease progression, for example, from oral premalignant disorder to oral cancer. Salivary diagnostics is an emerging field along with the application of genomics aid in the early detection of different diseases. These genomic alphabets of saliva may serve as a timely, cost-effective, non-invasive diagnostic medium. This review aims to discuss the genetic biomarkers of saliva in various diseases.","PeriodicalId":154960,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Angiotherapy","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125851278","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Leptin is also known to promote pro-inflammatory signaling through cytokines and growth factors that may contribute to the progression of atherosclerosis. Hence, in the present study, we investigated the role of leptin in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis by measuring its levels in atherosclerosis subjects and analyzing its correlation to anthropometric variables such as waist to hip ratio, body mass index, and biochemical parameters as lipids and glucose. Leptin levels correlate to serum glucose, triglycerides, waist to hip ratio, body mass index, and blood pressure in atherosclerosis subjects with increased body mass index. Our results show that leptin influences the lipid profile to induce the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.","PeriodicalId":154960,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Angiotherapy","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116340351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dental fear and anxiety (DFA) refer to strong negative emotions related to dental treatment among children. Many studies suggest that the anxiety-provoking stimuli include the view of the needle, odor of various dental materials, and sound generated in the dental office. The present study aims to assess apprehension related to noise in the dental office among children aged 6-15 years. Corah's dental anxiety-based survey questionnaire was circulated amongst the study subjects. The results suggest the sound generated in the dental office leads to apprehension, thus attributing to evasion of dental treatment.","PeriodicalId":154960,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Angiotherapy","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131566603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
