The research was useful for communities in West African countries that are significantly dependent on the financial gain from agrarian enterprise. The study was focused on the comparative performance evaluation of ethanol and hexane solvents on oil recovery from three different species of coconut (tall, dwarf, and hybrid). The effective extraction power was compared based on the quality and efficiency of oil extracted using an equal volume of the respective solvent. The solvent concentration has more effect on increasing oil extraction yield compared to extraction time and extraction temperature. Dwarf coconut species gave more oil than tall and hybrid coconut species with the organic solvents on the different factors affecting the adsorption process of oil from the coconut’s species in terms of selectivity, reliability, and economics of the process. Also, looking at the result quantitatively and not economically, hybrid coconut species gave a high yield of the oil with hexane solvent, then tall and dwarf coconut species respectively.","PeriodicalId":153802,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering Review","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128391476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research employed a cross-sectional research design method where data were collected randomly in the selected unit of population. The sample size was determined following the sample size determination proposed by Taro Yamane to be 400 mothers between the ages 18-56 years, with a sampling error of 5 percent and the confidence level assumed to be 95%. Data were collected using structured questionnaires with a ratio of 3:2 i.e, 60% to relative urban and 40% to relative rural areas. The study adopts the logistic regression technique. The findings show that maternal occupation and income raise the odds of under-five children contracting malaria, while raise in maternal education of a child, in both conventional and child/health education are less likely to experience malaria. The study recommends that mothers are encouraged to be more committed and/or active in participating in childcare activities to reduce the vulnerability of the children to the malaria parasite.","PeriodicalId":153802,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering Review","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125667576","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The manufacturing sector needs to take better and more consistent responsibility in mitigating this problem. Not only large industries, but also small industries that are widely cultivated such as MSMEs. The application of green management (GM) is an alternative to embrace sustainability. GM can use a variety of techniques that have an impact on reducing waste and environmental pollution. However, MSMEs face obstacles based on management functions, professionalism, and knowledge in implementing GM practices. The purpose of this research is to understand the main drivers for MSME Industry, in implementing Green Management in Banda Aceh City. The perception data of 60 MSME actors taken randomly was used in this study. The ranking of driving factors uses the Fuzzy TOPSIS method which is one of the Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods. This study found that the five main drivers of GM implementation are increasing competitiveness (driver 1), incentives provided by the government (driver 2), law enforcement (driver 3), commitment from top management (driver 4), product distribution (driver 5). Employee awareness/motivation, customer demand, pressure from local community, environmental knowledge/technology, raw material sourcing, cost savings, financial resources, efficiency and pressure from business trade associations.","PeriodicalId":153802,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering Review","volume":"50 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130550674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After 12 months of social distancing measures (partial and total lockdown measures started on March 2020, only to be released on April 2021), the social situation is extremely tense and economic activities are slowing down. In the absence of an inclusive social protection, the disruption of economic activities linked to the government's social distancing measures has left people in need. The response of emergency assistance measures, if it proved to be necessary to maintain social order, does not meet the needs of the population. In a logic of risk and disaster management, it appears that the more the preventive mechanisms cover a large part of the population with high levels of social rights, the less the emergency measures are necessary. However, the simple reproduction of programs developed in other socio-economic contexts cannot appropriately operate over time due to a strong dependence on international aid, a mismatch in employment structures and a mismatch in national policy and the reality. to the existing institutional structures in Madagascar. The covid-19 crisis could be an opportunity for low income and international aid dependent countries like Madagascar, to design, context specific, innovative and integrating social protection.
