Some recent studies have posed the problem of data clustering as a multiobjective optimization problem, where several cluster validity indices are simultaneously optimized to obtain robust clustering solutions. Since no validity index performs equally well in all kinds of images, identifying the best set of validity indices to be optimized simultaneously is therefore an important problem. In this article, we study an interactive genetic algorithm based multiobjective fuzzy clustering technique for satellite im-age clustering problem. The algorithm simultaneously finds the clustering solution as well as evolves the set of validity measures that are to be optimized simultaneously. The method periodically interacts with a human decision maker (DM) and adaptively learns to obtain the optimum set of validity measures along with the final clustering result. The performance of the technique has been demonstrated on an Indian city, Kolkata and compared with that of some other existing clustering techniques.","PeriodicalId":151809,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Electronics Engineering (UPCON)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122843008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So a higher(fourth)order compact finite difference method has been used for optical waveguide modeling purpose incorporating modal index concept for the study of refractive index profile for a particular rib wave guide structure. Obtained results for normalized indices and modal indices are compared with other methods to verify the applicability of our scheme. Both DE and PSO are two powerful meta-heuristic optimization techniques with different special features. These specialities are combined together in hybrid DE-PSO algorithm. The parameters of UPFC based lead-lag controller are optimized by this hybrid DE-PSO algorithm by taking integral time absolute error (ITAE) as the fitness function. A single machine infinite bus power system is considered by applying a small perturbance in prime mover input power and the effect of DE-PSO optimized controller is compared with PSO and DE optimized controllers. The convergence rate, settling time, over and under shoots are compared for all algorithms. Also the eigen values and damping modes of oscillations are observed with all the three optimization techniques and it has been observed that hybrid DE-PSO algorithm is much efficient in damping electromechanical oscillations and thereby enhancing small signal stability as compared to PSO and DE algorithms.","PeriodicalId":151809,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Electronics Engineering (UPCON)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130989004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The output from solar cells requires boost topologies for obtaining an adequate level of voltage. Interleaving techniques in boost topologies lead to a better current sharing and a reduction in current ripple. This paper presents a small signal model for n phase interleaved boost converter (IBC). The transfer functions are derived considering the parasitics of inductors, capacitor and power electronic switch. Such considerations result in accurate mathematical models closely pertaining to a practical IBC. The resulting analysis will ensure development of effective control strategies. The proposed structure consists of three differently oriented split rings separated by FR4 dielectric substrates and air spacers between them. The simulation results show that the designed structure can rotate linearly polarized incident electromagnetic wave by 90° in the frequency band of 9 – 13.2 GHz. Cross-polarized transmission coefficient is observed to be more than 0.8 whereas co-polarized transmission is less than 0.4 for the frequency range. Polarization rotation mechanism has been further explained by analysing individual layers and plotting surface current distribution of the proposed structure. A prototype has also been fabricated and reasonable agreement between simulated and experimental results is observed.","PeriodicalId":151809,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Electronics Engineering (UPCON)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121637136","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The MM structure unit cell consists of concentric circular split rings of same width and different radii and concentric continuous rings of different width and different radii arranged in four different quadrants. The three layered proposed MM absorber design has upper layer comprising of concentric continuous and split rings structured sub-cells separated by bottom laminated copper layer of FR-4 substrate. The proposed MM absorber is insensitive to any polarization state of incident EM waves due to highly symmetrical circular and split ring structures. The scattering parameter and absorption coefficient are obtained for the present MM absorber. The magnetic and electric fields are monitored to realize the behavior of MM structure. The dual broadband MM absorber has absorbance of 99% from 7.785 GHz – 8.475 GHz and absorbance of 98% from 11.835 GHz – 12.81 GHz. The absorption peaks for this MM absorber are obtained as 99.5%, 99.6%, 98.4% and 98.8% at 7.785 GHz, 8.475 GHz, 11.835 GHz and 12.81 GHz frequencies respectively for the normal incidence of EM waves. The high absorbance makes this MM absorber suitable for various microwave applications including airborne and radar signal absorption.","PeriodicalId":151809,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Electronics Engineering (UPCON)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117016153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a supercapacitor based distributed static compensator (DSTATCOM)is presented to mitigate the power quality problems. The compensator (Supercapacitor based DSTATCOM) mainly focused on harmonics mitigation, unbalanced current reduction, power factor correction and reactive power compensation of the power system. The dc-link voltage of the DSTATCOM is regulated by the supercapacitor throughout the compensation process very quickly. Electrical energy from the grid is stored by the supercapacitor during off-peak hours and delivered back to the grid during peak hours for system stability, reliability and power quality improvement. The instantaneous symmetric component theory (ISCT) control strategy is used to generate the gate signals for IGBTs of the voltage source converter (VSC) based DSTATCOM. Also, total harmonic distortion (THD) of the supply current is maintained well below the IEEE standards on the harmonic limit. The proposed system has been simulated in the SimPowerSystem (SPS)/Matlab-Simulink environment to verify its effectiveness over conventional DSTATCOM.","PeriodicalId":151809,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Electronics Engineering (UPCON)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115396977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Websites which needs little or no authentication requires less security while other websites which needs user authentication due to confidential information, requires secure access. Depending on the security requirements, different forms of Captcha are required. In this paper, we propose a novel Captcha scheme which addresses the issues faced by existing Captcha schemes.
