Abstract

Optimization of structure parameters of a wave guide has been found to be of utmost importance so far as their fabrications are concerned. So a higher(fourth)order compact finite difference method has been used for optical waveguide modeling purpose incorporating modal index concept for the study of refractive index profile for a particular rib wave guide structure. Obtained results for normalized indices and modal indices are compared with other methods to verify the applicability of our scheme. Variations of these indices with wave guide structure parameters help us to identify material dependent optimized parameter values for proper functioning of the wave guides.
