A mixed questionnaire based on the basic socio-demographic and behavioural patterns such as sex, age, education, marital status, average monthly income, family size etc. and predominant causes of smoking such as addiction/habit, peer pressure, personal/family/occupational stress relief etc. was prepared and presented to the consenting study respondents (n=110) at Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The patterns and causes were selected based on the previous literature review. Also, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was conducted with 11 consenting participants. The resultant data was then analysed using the OpenEpi v3.01 software (CDC, USA).Chi-square tests and logistic regression analysis (OR and 95% CI)were conducted using the software. Preliminary analysis revealed that the overall smoking prevalence in the study sample was 63.63% (n = 70).The two most significant causes of smoking in the study sample were an addiction to smoking (44.29%) and peer pressure (24.29%). Through a review of the findings of this study, it can be ascertained thatthere is a high prevalence of smoking among the construction workers of Savar, Dhaka, and behavioural patterns of smoking are associated with critical socio-demographic factors. Findings suggest the need for control on the easy availability oftobacco and intervention policies such as a ban on tobacco smoking in public places, especially construction sites, imposing of high tax and surcharge on tobacco products etc., aimed at reducing tobacco use among the construction workers of Savar, Dhaka. \u0000Keywords: Savar, tobacco, smoking, patterns, causes, construction workers.

A mixed method of qualitative & Quantitative analysis was utilised to determine the impact of the smartphone. Random sampling was undertaken among 100 school-level students from four selected schools of Raninagar Upazila in Naogaon District for a questionnaire. An FGD was also made with those schools' teachers to analyse the impact on quality education. This study shows that about 65 percent of high school students got a smartphone after the Covid-19 period. Even though smartphones are beneficial for online classes and preparing study materials, adolescents are becoming reliant on them for unneeded communication. Spending extra time on smartphones hampers their way of achieving quality education. As we cannot ignore the necessity of smartphones in the e-learning process, we can allow smartphones to them but with some restrictions. The use of smartphones can be restricted at night, and morning time can be allocated to get the maximum benefit within a shorter period. Also, keeping a smartphone during class time should be strongly prohibited.

Considering the benefits, it is essential in the present context to study if the continuation of virtual meetings in the post-COVID period is required or not. This research tries to explore how effective virtual meetings were during the pandemic period of COVID-19 in government offices in Bangladesh and if their continuation in the future is feasible or not. This study investigates the difficulties in hosting and organizing virtual meetings that various district and Upazila-level government offices in Bangladesh face. The views of government officials posted in 24 districts about the prospects of virtual meetings and challenges are analyzed in this study. Acknowledging the prospects and challenges, it is suggested that the continuation of virtual and, in some cases, hybrid meetings are required in government offices to assure sustainable development and obtain success in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. \u0000

This training aims at the capacity development of the public servants, which in turns contributes to the organisational performance. 60-hour long training in a year for the employees of public sector in different public sector organisations across the country has been undertaken to raise the skills and competencies and modify the attitude of the public servants under the supervision of MOPA. Since its introduction in 2016, the efficacy of 60-hour long Training programme has not been explored yet. Therefore, this study aims at filling in this gap in literature in public sector, focusing on the trainings offered to employees and its influence on their performance in these organisations. How the outcome of the 60-hour training leads to increased organisational performance is yet to be ascertained. Interpretive approach has been adopted in this study. Data have been collected from selected upazilas of two districts (Moulvibazar, Habiganj) and three Ministries, namely, Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health. The findings of the study show that training characteristics consist of before-the-training, during-the-training and after-the-training characteristics. The characteristics of these three stages of training that influence training effectiveness of the 60-hour training in this study comprise: learning readiness of the trainees, pre-training facilitation and activities, environment of training, training method, performance of trainer and style, training contents, training objectives and results. Research findings suggest the strongest important relationships between the characteristics of training such as pre-training, during-the-training and post-training that in turn contribute to the effectiveness of the 60-hour training. \u0000Sixty-hour trainin, Efficacy, before-the-training, \u0000during-the-training and after-the-training characteristic

The promotion of a pedestrian safety culture has received little attention. This study looked into Bangladeshi pedestrians' present attitudes toward and understanding of safety and related activities. Using an online-based structured questionnaire with 16 items relevant to safety attitude, awareness, and actions, a cross-sectional survey of 320 randomly chosen Bangladeshi citizens was carried out. According to the study, pedestrians' safety attitudes, awareness, and behaviour levels are insufficient. It was revealed that safer pedestrian actions were connected with positive attitudes toward traffic safety. Males, younger respondents and respondents with less education reported engaging in riskier behaviours and having more risky views regarding traffic safety. Additionally, Bangladesh's working-age population (15–59%) is currently bigger than the non-working-age population (>15 and 60+), which has the potential to propel economic growth with a focus on our youth. Although there is a lot of interest in Bangladeshi adolescents, there is relatively little thorough information available about their situation. This research was conducted to offer insightful information about our youngsters. The youth's self-identities and life goals were first observed, together with their level of education and skill readiness, and then their engagement in earning activities. Then, a survey was conducted to determine how free they felt to choose. Their political stance was then examined. From the analysis, it can be said that Bangladeshi youth are still mostly untapped and are not at all prepared to take advantage of the prospects presented by the twenty-first century. This study intends to investigate the circumstances surrounding the availability of quality seeds for rice cultivation and establish policy strategies for quality seed production at the farmer level. The study focused on rice and a significant grain crop, and data were gathered using several survey questionnaires and in-person interviews. The acquired data was gathered and reviewed to write a paper utilizing the quantitative technique. The findings showed that farmers utilize between 70 and 80 percent of their rice seed throughout the research regions. Farmers (20–30%) can acquire rice seeds from NGOs, seed dealers, Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), and other external sources in the most extensive quantities. Hence, in land management services, information is a very important element both for service providers and service recipients. Therefore, information can be used as a means of providing smooth service delivery and concealing proper information, the service recipients can also be pushed in immoral practices on the other hand. Considering the existing situation, the government is always trying to provide services to its citizens smoothly and easily through adopting and introducing different mechanisms and initiatives. The introduction of the citizen-charter in public offices is one of such initiatives. Consequence of which the present study investigated the contribution of citizen charter in accelerating public service delivery in land management in the country. It also explored the perception of service recipients about the citizen charter and factors affecting in implementation of the citizen charter. The study administered qualitative methodology and data have been collected from primary and secondary sources. The study revealed that citizen charter brings a positive impact on public service delivery in land management. Information about different services, their rate of fees and stipulated time-frame is displayed openly on the citizen charter notice board at the land office and also on its website. It has become easier due to the introduction of digitization in land administration. However, the study explored that the educational status of the service recipients is not an impending factor to get services from the land administration offices. Rather, the middleman or vested interest group is found as criminal-agent to make the as usual process of getting service difficult. It is happened due to the complex nature of the land management system and its complicated process of service delivery. Therefore, it is recommended to appoint more IT expert officials with an uninterrupted power supply and high-speed net connection at the ACLs offices for ensure accountability and effective monitoring systems along with more publicity about the citizen charter to create more awareness about it. Moreover, a huge campaign is needed to create awareness about the process of receiving services, fees, and levies for different services, sources of land-related information, etc. Initiatives should also be taken to develop professionalism and cooperative manners among ACL staff. Introduction of feedback—both service providers and service recipients—the system would be an effective mechanism, among many others, at the ACL offices in the country to provide better services and that can be a part citizen charter. \u0000

A total of 37 households were considered as respondents for the study. A specially designed questionnaire was used as a tool for collecting data. The study revealed the rural people's family background, occupation, consumption patterns and average food intake of carbohydrates, protein, oil, fruits and other food items, factors affecting their food selection, and their satisfaction level regarding food under the specific objectives. The interviewees' mean household size was 5.19, whereas most respondents belonged to agricultural households (35.14%). It was found that rice essentially dominated the average daily food intake per person at 422.60 grams making up 52.37% of total food consumption and also constituted the most share of carbohydrate consumption. The respondent also consumes vegetables (185.10g/capita/day) and leafy vegetables (56.67g/capita/day) in moderate amounts but a lesser amount of fruits(35.45g/capita/day). Nutrition and price were the first and second determinants of food choice (16 and 15 of 37 households), and 54.06% of respondents were satisfied with their present food intake. Most households took protein four days a week, with the highest fish consumption (42.05g/capita/day) as of first preference. By conducting more awareness programmes on the importance of balanced food consumption, nutrition, quality food, and homestead gardening by the governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations working in the study area, the present scenario of quality food consumption can be improved.
